Best Way to Get 5% Coles Gift Cards?

Hi OzB, I'm looking for the best way to get 5% Coles Gift Cards and found these links.

Based on experience which of these would you recommend or avoid?

http://www.thethankyouclub.com.au/ 24.95 per year or 8.95 per 3 months

https://karekard.com.au/ 46 49.95 per year

http://www.ambassadorcard.com.au/ $199 per year

http://affinityallianceco.com.au/ $45 per year

http://www.abcbaby.com.au/ $30 per year

None of these places have any required qualifications that I can see such as being in a union or an association. Any others like this?

Cheers!

  • lol was thinking about the same from last few days, i seems to spend ~1k on coles myers group /month.
That will be real saving, otherwise ing 2% isnt a deal breaker
Would be nice to somehow add ing 2% + 5%

  • looking at http://www.thethankyouclub.com.au/coles-store-gift-cards-5-o…
unless you bank transfer there is 2.5% for using paypal /CC plus mandorty .85 processing fees, would be good to know whats the "courier fee"
Please note: Here at the Thank You Club our policy is to pass the full savings of everything on to our members and we do not make any margin, commission, advertising fees, or profit from any business. For this reason each card or ticket purchased on our site attracts a processing and handling fee of .85c to cover our costs. Payments via paypal/ credit card attract an additional 2.5% fee which is chgarged by PayPal (not us). Members may pay for cards via bank transfer, avoiding the 2.5% credit card/ paypal surcharge.

  • If you're with AGL Energy, there is AGL rewards that offers 5% off Coles gift cards (via Ambassador Card): https://www.aglrewards.com.au/
There is 1% credit card surcharge or bank transfer (no surcharge).

    • +1

That'd be a great deal other than AGL charges too much for power (in SA anyhow) :|

      • AGL rips you off whatever state you're in!

  • +1

It was very good when you could buy them from the entertainment book with no extra fees, but no more…

  • has anyone used the following website:

    https://www.unionshopper.com.au/us-offer/coles-gift-cards/

  • Baby Club has $10 off $200 Coles Supermarket voucher only.

Waiting to hear how the thank you club does it :)

  • Mlc superannuation , crap fund though, not my main fund

    • How does mlc get you % off coles?

Is it really that crap of policy i know nothing about if its any good or not joined them a couple of years back.

  • +1

Avoid Karekard. Do a search on ozbargin for more details. I waited 2 whole months and got nothing. Had to make a claim with paypal. Got my money back in the end which was good. They do not have phone number on their website and take forever to response via email.

    • ^Thanks for the infoz … I was debating whether to try them but now I won't. It's nothing special (for my circumstances) but the 35% off cinema gift certificates was tempting me.

  • Thankyouclub got back to me: you buy in multiples of $100 up to $500 and pay 95% value eg. $100 Coles will cost $95.85 (assuming you pay using bank transfer).

  • So did you end up going with any of the above? And did you end up getting the cards? Also looking at joining one of the above sites, but just wondering which one to go with

    • Not yet but I'm leaning towards thankyouclub at the moment because they responded quickly to queries and they are cheap relatively ;)

I'll probably pay up tomorrow because with the amount I spend at Coles I'll make it back in 3 or 4 shops lol.

  • Actually I'm considering Kare Kard despite the bad feedback here since they have 5% Officeworks gift cards which no one else seems to (maybe Ambassador Card does i didn't check).

Officeworks would be pretty neat … because if you get them to price beat and pay with a gift card that's 10% off. They will hate you :)

So still tossing up between Kare Kard and Thankyou club.

  • Going through Affinity Directory which looks dodgy as *** …

    They have this:

    http://affinitydirectory.com.au/aa-gift-cards/

Which lists the holy grail Coles Myer Group gift cards at 12% of o.0 … these are awesome because they're like Wish cards in that they can be used at all Coles Myer Group properties.

They also supposedly have DSE gift cards at 12% off which is better than getting 110^ face value. And Caltex/Woolworths gift cards at 12% off!

    Decisions, decisions …

Don't gorough affinity, check this thread : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/160199

Cheers for that, save me the hassle and possible ripoff.

For anyone worried about service etc. the only place i could recommend ATM is thankyouclub as they have promptly answered queries twice. One was on a weekend.

Pretty sure Ambassador Card is OK from anecdotal evidence only.

The others … well, your guess and risk is as good as mine.

    • Has anyone bought Coles Myer Gift Cards from Affinity with 12% discount. Will take up the membership @ $99/Year, if they are delivering what they promise..

  • +1

If you have a Presidential Card you can buy Coles egiftcard cards online through their website at 5% discount. Choice of $100, $250 or $500 egc & free delivery by email. We are members as have car insurance with CGU, membership is part of the product.

Here is a list of some gift cards members can purchase at discount

    https://presidentialcard.com.au/home/our_partners

    • Cheers for that, that's a new one for me.

They claim to have a dedicated customer support service as well.

Wow so after perusing that my comments are:

      -no Officeworks :|
-haven't seen 5% Amart, Rebel or The Just Group (10%!) anywhere else
-easily the best for cinema tickets, i don't think there's a cinema chain missing from their list :)

      • Also 7.5% discount on Good Guys gift cards. However $3.00 delivery charge on plastic gift cards reduces saving (not all gift cards have egiftcard option).

    • Unfortunately, when I looked yesterday I think CGU / Presidential Card has dropped the Coles eGift cards - a shame.

  • Still haven't pulled the trigger on one of these yet as I'm researching still.

What I've found is (after a cursory once over which may have missed something) it's often cheaper and easier (pay in installments) to get the rewards program by paying for a service:

For example Presidential Card costs $49 annually but one other way of getting it is by paying $4.75 per month for basic health insurance cover with HBF.

I'm still researching so let's change the focus of this thread to include the cheapest/"best" ways of getting into these reward programs via third party entities such as insurance providers etc.

    • +1

You might want to confirm HBF health insurance customers are eligible for the Card, as BUPA customers are eligible under car insurance policy only (not health insurance).

    • +1

$4.75 per month for basic health insurance???
That is only $57 per year!!! What health insurance do you get for that??? I want that too!!!

    • Really keen to find out how you get private health that cheap - I work in the medical field and don't really have a need for it other than taxes…

  • http://employeebenefits.com.au/employee-benefits.php#brands another one

Haven't looked at it yet but there's another thread here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/114940

which claims you can contact them for individual membership :).

Edit: Oh OK huh … guys, for some reason you can buy 5% Target Cards from The Thank You Club with a free membership only. I have a suspicion that these can be used to buy Coles Myer Group Gift Cards from a thread I read …

  • Contacted Kare Kard a while back and again a few days ago and they got back to me on the latter case.

They informed me that they do not do Officeworks despite having it in the list so take their list with a grain of salt I guess.

  • For those of you who understand how leverage works, you would purchase the eGiftcards from a provider who rewards not just yourself as the purchaser, but also the people who referred you into the system. Entertainment Book, RACV club etc just don't cut the mustard as they only reward your own shopping.

  • Folks with MLC Super, I found that the linked Rewards Program offers 5% discount Coles Myer Gift cards. Ordered my first one few days back and yet to receive..

  • i'm happy to order any amount of coles gift cards for those that want at the 5% discounted value, works for JBhifi too

Just wondering the verdict. What is the best way the buy discounted Coles gift cards?

Thank you club doesn't seem to exist anymore.

AGL are expensive for electricity/gas and charge 1% cc surcharge.

Health funds? NIB or HBA? Not sure if it is worthwhile changing policies.

    Car insurance? CGU..

    Union shopper?

Blatchy Blues? Membership cost and 1% cc surcharge.

Entertainment book doesn't sell them anymore.

What are people using to buy Coles gift cards?

  • just wondering, do coles staff get 5% off staff discount, and for gift cards as well?

ive only heard of woolworths people having staff discounts

    • Yes, they get a 5% discount at all stores in the Coles Group, except for Bunnings.

      Gift cards are excluded, though.

  • Union shopper charge postage and seem to only do direct deposit for physical card.

    • +1

Shipping $4.50 flat rate, PayPal (credit card) handling fee 1%.

On a $500 gift card order, the total came to $484.25 - so a saving of just over 3%…

  • what about via the good guys rewards concierge?

  • Likewise looking for decent options here; Coles/FlyBuy's tie in with Velocity now makes it worth walking the extra 200m to their store (I live in a building with a WW downstairs), but I'm attached to my 5% WW discount gift cards…

  • Hi all. What are the current ways to get Coles group discounts?

    • If you are with AGL, You can get 5% discounted Coles (only) eGiftCards through AGL Rewards.

If you have super with MLC, you can get the same offer through their Rewards portal. These are the two that I am aware of. AGL messed up with their logon method and for some reason I am unable to login for the last few months.

  • Does anyone know how to get discounted gift cards at Target and Officeworks?
