    It beats me why people pay for softwares to slowdown their PC.

    • +3

      each to there own, been using it for years haven't had a problem

      • -2

        The multitude of toolbars, messages, popups and ineffective virus detection 'isn't a problem'?

        • +7

          dont install the toolbars, dont get pop ups, virus detection works fine, think norton would be out of business if it was that shit of a product, but as said each to there own

          @RogueWolf:

          OK, here's the truth, as a techie….

          Norton is for the simpletons. It is ineffective at best, damaging at worst. It's known as bloatware, and people who knows their way around PC's will never install, buy or recommend.

          Unfortunately this means that you are in a lower tier of PC users. I guess you may not care, but your opinion on this 'product' is actually not useful at all.

          Sorry.

          @Neo: Stop perpetuating myths.

        • @joeflacco:
          Myth confirmed.

        • @Neo: guess im a simpleton such is life

          @RogueWolf:

          Don't feel bad, you probably have a girlfriend.

        • +4

          @Neo: If you don't like Norton what is your recommendation? You are throwing the word "techie" around there; what is your job? Just wondering 'cause I'm a Senior Network Architect and, a while ago, I was in a room with two other colleagues (probably 60 years experience between us) and we had some twerp trying to tell us what he was doing. When we tried to explain why his solution wouldn't work he burst out with ("I suppose 5 years in the industry means nothing to you guys"). We had to put ourselves on mute until we finished laughing.

        • @try2bhelpful: Not OP, but I personally prefer webroot, its far more lightweight than norton or windows defender

        • @try2bhelpful:

          For the best I would go Kaspersky, for everyone else Windows inbuilt scanner is fine.
          I worked for a few years in the dirt fixing home PC's… much more practical use than network architect tbh

          @Neo: You can be as honest as you like; nice you know what my job actually involves. That is what I am now. I grew up through the ranks. I've done all sorts of stuff including building PCs and servers; as required.

        • @Neo: >Windows inbuilt scanner is fine

          wow.

        • @joeflacco:

          Oh please, it is more than acceptable now.

        • +1

          @Neo: Actually, every independent test I've seen has shown that Norton has a light footprint and is as good as they come in detecting malware. They have turned it around.

          Windows Defender has been shown to be complete and utter garbage.

          You're living in 2011.

      • Correct each to their own, but don't think AV software in perfect. They expose attack vectors like any software.

      was about to post the cashback but terms condition says "purchased from participating Australian and New Zealand retail stores between May 14, 2015 and June 30, 2015 inclusive" but on the link you attached says "Purchase Norton 360 Multi-Device Version 1.x or 2.x1 for 3 Devices or 5 Devices retail box from a participating Australian or New Zealand retail store2 between April 1, 2015 and September 30, 2015 inclusive" differant dates, possible they havent updated the terms, worth a shot I guess

      • +2

        That was "Doubled $20 Rebate Offer"

        So you get $40 Cash back between May 14, 2015 – June 30, 2015. and $20 only other period

  • Wait for the deal when they actually pay you (rather than you pay them) after cashback.
