I must say it's certainly a lot faster (I've got a relatively good router and can stream 1080p video through my phone with no delay or frame skipping). However, it uses a bit of CPU power to achieve this sort of compression.
Does this comment from a previous deal still apply?
Affirmative
To access your computer from across the Internet, subscribe to Anywhere Access Pack via In-App Purchase.
Wow what a useless app then. Sticking to Teamviewer seems like the better and free option.
Love Teamviewer.
Normally $3.79
From that link, does that mean this isn't normally $9.99?
Just check the prices here. $3.79 AUD was the last price before it went free.
I can't seem to find it on Google Play, it must be targeted towards those eyetelephone thingymagigies.
It's subscription based on Playstore for the paid version. Free version only allows access over WiFi.
I guess for free why not (although don't buy the IAP) but personally I found this inferior in speed to Teamviewer (which is free for personal use) using 3G or 4G cellular networks.
There are also better solutions if you want a media streaming app.
But we still have to pay the monthly subscription right?
Don't forget Cashback offer 5.5% of $0.00.
Thanks, saved an extra $0!
Chrome Remote Desktop is a free alternative for PC, Mac and Linux. Teamviewer also very good for personal use with PC, Mac and Linux but neither of these is very good for audio/video streaming. Parallels on Mac is another alternative and functions very well although can be a little confusing.
All solutions have their strengths and weaknesses.
Being an OzBargainer, i dont pay for remote access, but use a combination of Chrome Remote Desktop, ProxMox, TeamViewer, Linux, VNC, TurnKey and servers such as nginx, owncloud and Plex. Very handy getting through corporate firewalls, and with the added benefit of switching on and off a computer remotely via WoL.
Anyone know if its worth giving Splashtop 2 a go? If you have to pay for this, LogMeIn looks like its also worth considering.
Splashtop 2 is great, i played Civ 5 etc.. / any turn based game with no issues using android tablet hooked up to tv via hdmi over slow net connections ADSL 2+ both ends (10 and 14 download and 1 upload). Tried LogMeIn and it wasn't capable of doing this. All depends on what you want to use it for :)
Thanks, gave it a go, and it does perform well, audio was a little faint on iPhone, but had continuous play.
Wonder if this would work under remotely via an OpenVPN server.
Brilliant, I have been using the free Android version for a while to stream videos to my Android phone whilst afk.
They didn't offer the same free version on iOS unfortunately.
Now I can take either phone with me :)
I have always used Teamviewer in the past, be it PC to PC or iPhone to PC.
I might try this one now that its free.
Just googled Splashtop and Teamviewer and it appears Splashtop has a slight edge ….
