  • Is this available in QLD? I doubt it !?

    • +1

It should be nationwide, but I'm not too sure sorry! We'll find out tomorrow :)

    • Yes. Same price but without the drink.

    • +5

      I swear…every kfc topic

  • It should be working here in QLD

    That thumbnail tho

  • +1

is this a deal, or just a marketing ad disguised as a deal?

    • +5

Are a lot of deals not marketing? Sell something cheap to get people in the door and hopefully they'll buy something more expensive?

      • +1

Except ozbargainers don't fall for that, so were able to tell what the real deals are.

        • Er … yeah right. If you think buying something that you otherwise would not have is not falling for something.

Something meaning marketing. Not that marketing works on you right … like everyone else.

          lel.

        • Not sure what you're talking about. I'll buy something if its cheap and an actual deal when compared to other retailers and based on ozbargain researching, but I'm not going to continue buying from that place and pay RRP for other products. What do you think is the point of this website?

        • +2

          @Orpheus:

I think what he is getting at is that most of us would normally drive straight past there, continue home, and make ourselves something from our cupboard that probably cost less than a dollar in total. But now, driving past, you're more likely to stop in, grab this 'deal', and think to yourself what a bargain!
He's spot on… I'm on this page, like others, looking at the 'deal' thinking I might grab one today if I'm going past! (Although I still think HJ Stunner deals are better value!)

        • @Snoop: Except I don't cook and often get take out. And I'm really curious to know what kind of meal can you make at home that will cost under $1 that is comparable to this deal?

        • @Orpheus: OzCheapskates?

        • @Orpheus:
A couple of sandwiches and some cordial would cost well under a dollar.
Is it comparable? Well of course it is… it's food, it'll fill you up, and depending what you use could be more nutritional.
Is it the same and have all the bells and whistles? No,but neither does a Hyundai Excel. But that didn't stop 100,000s from buying one to get around just the same as you would in a BMW.

  • So this is a lunch deal, given that it ends at 4pm? And it starts tomorrow?

  • +2

Lunch for the next 3 weeks is sorted. Well, unless the tenders are rubbish.

    • When they are fresh they are good. They are very oily though.

      • tried, the coating is indeed the secret one but, the size is about the same as those old tender ones.

At the store I brought from, I suspect the pieces are not fresh, but frozen, when I visit the store in the open day, I only see the chicken pieces are fresh.

I wonder if that will stay on or it is another limited time one.

Too salty compare to the chicken pieces

but.. if you like the coating, it is allright

        • The tenders are made from fresh chicken.

  • this is great, just need to find more kfc locations…

  • how long for?

  • This is great, one cheat meal for the week! Thanks OP

    • +1

gets one cheat meal, chooses chicken tenders… live a little

      • I'm female. I don't need to eat that much, a snackbox can fill me up. Lol

  • How can you fill in the Guest Experience Survey - online or paper?

    • +1

online - the website is mentioned on the back of your KFC receipt.

      • +1

"… on the back of your KFC receipt."

Or on the back of someone else's receipt, that you happen to find on a table when you rock up to the joint. And don't forget, re the 'free drink and chips' that you get for doing the survey, you can choose an orange juice for the drink; it doesn't have to be the povo mini-can of soft drink.

        • do you have to do the survey or can you put any 5 numbers in

        • +1

          @kima:
Sometimes they type the number in to check that it's legit. On the up side, you can do the survey in a couple of minutes/on the spot, if you have your smart phone on you.

        • +3

@kima: It's not any 5 numbers. They have to add up to a 6 or 9 (e.g.: 25053 or 34425). Figured this out when an attendant was trying to add up the numbers in his head but was using his outside voice :)

caged chicken that has been pumped with growth hormones

Please stop spreading blind ignorance. Growth hormones are not used in Australian poultry.
      Meat chickens are not caged.
And they did not change the name to KFC for legal reasons.

I'm sure you can find some genuine reasons to criticise KFC, but those are BS.

      • -8
      • -2

Oh sorry they are organic chickens kept in the finest of conditions fed with finest of ingredients. How long have you worked for KFC for?

        • Ask Inghams/Steggles or whoever supplies the chickens how they are kept…

        • You said they were caged and fed hormones which is incorrect.

Resorting to a sensationalist tabloid publication doesn't change the facts on the ground. You remind me of Sea Shepard activists who go around repeating Sea Sheperd to people even though Sea Shepard's mission, according to Paul watson, is to tell lies in a confident, media savvy manner. In other words you just don't care about reality as much as repeating lies made up by activist entities.

Now if you said the chickens are kept in a shed with almost no room to move because of other birds - that is correct.

        • +1

          I didn't know I was living in the UK…
          … I still don't quite understand what's wrong with 35-day chickens…

        • +1

@Deridas: Supporting the same company that uses these methods. If your's OK with this then all good:)

    • +3

There's always at least one… (shakes head)

    • +4

Wait a minute… KFC comes from chicken?

    • +2

      You got schooled slut.

Guarantee you are a hypocrite. Do you have any idea the cruelness a lot of humans go through for our way of life. Bet you don't mind upvoting those tv or mobile phone deals.

      • -1

If anyone got schooled it was the chicken:) I bet you are wrong, I don't own a mobile phone and don't watch TV. Any other assumptions or is that it?

        • +1

What about the device you're posting from?

        • -1

          @AGoodName: What about it?

        • +1

@bargainslut: Same thing as the phones and TV's, they're made in factories like Foxconn. Full of cruelty.

        • -1

@AGoodName: Well this is not good. What should we do to make things better?

        • +1

@bargainslut: Support companies that don't use that kind of labour, but good luck finding one. Even if you did there's still the problem of how they make the individual components and where they source the materials. Might as well just not buy anything ;)

        • +1

@AGoodName: I'm weeding my way through company practices and have to say massive changes have been made in my household. All food and clothes are now bought from ethical sustainable sources. Supporting local groups like OZharvest helps cut down on wastage and get the produce out of the bin and into hungry bellies. With a little thought and care we can all make a difference!

        • +2

@bargainslut: If you want to make a big difference you will have to forgo living in society and live out in the bush somewhere, no technology, live off the land, make your own clothes.

        • +3

          @bargainslut:
Lets just say …. I don't believe you. Good day Sir/Mam.

        • @gokhanh: It certainly would make a big difference. Having said that it's easily possible to have a positive impact whilst being integrated in society.

        • -1

@gokhanh: oh yes, because everything is pure black and white. what are you, 12?

        • @bargainslut: Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does. - William James

          good work

        • @pg88: Cheers bud.

        • @Orpheus: Ahh the typical "what are you, 12" rebuttal, how can I respond to such a convincing argument.

        • -1

@gokhanh: Usually younger children see the world in simple black and white and 'good' and 'bad'.

        • @Orpheus: Usually simple-minded people don't understand sarcasm.

      • I've noticed how property sections are getting smaller and smaller as the price of land gets higher and higher. I wonder if soon it won't only be the chickens who are forced to live in cramped conditions. Thank God their lives are short is all I can say.

  • +3

Well cover me in vegetable oil and wheel me down to the local trough this is a steal!

  • +1

Great deal, just wish I could get it !

I tried four stores in the last few days looking for this deal and NONE had it on.

Participating stores doesn't seem to be very many at all this time around…

    • +1

is there a listing of stores?

    • +4

      Doesn't start until tomorrow!

      • +1

I read about the deal on lifehackeralmost a week ago and went in search of it… They should have stated it hadn't actually started yet !!

  • +1

Are the tenders about crispy strip size?

    • +8

      they are penis size

      • +5

        that's very small then! :(

        • +3

How many come in a box?

        • +4

@daveted: someone needs to have 'the talk' with you my friend .)

        • +5

          ">that's very small then! :("

Oh, I took that to mean they were absolutely massive. I suppose it depends on your… erm… personal perspective.

      • african or chinese?

    • They are smaller as they don't have the extra batter that went on the crispy strips.

  • -5

I'm honestly not sure why this KFC deal always gets posted, it's not a bargain - it's just a promotional meal thats priced accordingly to the market (bargains are cheaper than market no?). It's definitely $5 worth of food and its not enough food for lunch (especially a full day at work 8:30am - 5/6pm ish), and I find my self spending extra up to $10 anyway.

    • +1

I tend to agree in general, but admin won't do much if a deal gets a lot of upvotes… If you don't want to see KFC deals either block them or don't vote, you don't have to vote, and your neg vote is halfway to being revoked…

    • What do you mean exactly by 'this KFC deal always gets posted' ?

Considering this specific deal has never even existed before this week ?

      • +1

I think what he means is KFC always has a short run 'budget $5 value box' every few months.

  • YES CANT WAIT!

  • What time of day do these go on sale?

    • ive been when the store opens for some on the last deals and they wouldn't do it until 11 or 11:30. stores usually don't open until 10

  • Kentucky fried cruelty.

    • Well.. that has turned me off chicken.

      • Same here bud.

        • Where exactly did you think food comes from?

        • @Darron65: That's a very broad question.

    • Happens everywhere where there is animal slaughter.

At least they are looked after. I didn't see anything in that article that showed cruelty. The only thing mentioned was a statement saying they died of dehydration but doesn't state where.

I spoke to an Ingham chicken farmer and he told me 6 weeks is the average lifespan. Then its 2 weeks to clean the room IIRC.

I will still eat chicken :)

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

Just got the email from KFC. They state clearly that Queenslanders do not get the drink, and end the statement calling me a friend. Just for that simple insult against me, I will NOT be partaking of the lunch deal! :(

  • +2

$6 in Brisbane including normal can drink

  • Just had this for lunch. There's enough chicken in there just to fill the gaps in your teeth. Basically no where enough to feel full :'(

  • Tendies are the new nuggets.

It's the rolling tobacco of chicken.

    • two nuggets joined together if your lucky in size

  • I just had it for lunch. I forgot how small the cans are. Lucky I wasn't so hungry as the chicken pieces are pretty small.

  • Had it today, pretty good.
