Hi Donga _ Haven't seen you on the site for quite a while.
Have entered for this comp. - Thanks for posting. Hubby & I are going on the Pacific Eden in Nov. when they have the ceremony of the 5 P&O ships in Sydney harbour with all the pomp & ceremony. Couldn't really afford it but had to be part of it ! Bread & Jam for dinner for a while afterwards ?
To win for the Aria would be fantastic - fingers crossed.
By the way - flying with Alpha Flight Guru last year went without a hitch - service everywhere was wonderful - money well spent for a fraction of the retail cost.

    • Good luck. Glad to hear everything went well with Alpha. I was a bit sceptical about them at first but a couple of people have said they have had good experiences. What sort of prices did you get for your flights?

Can't remember the exact figures now - but was apx. $5500 ea. This included part business & part first class flights. From Perth to Bangkok ( stopover in hotel 3 days ) Bangkok to Barcelona ( stopover in hotel 3 days )Boarded Regal Princess for 12 nights ( great )Back to Barcelona with no further hotel stay & on to Venice for 3 nights ( expensive ) then Frankfurt for 3 nights ( beautiful city & lovely people ) on the way home to Perth. Two of the flights were on the A380 Airbus - one flight was business class & the other was first class. No complaints. Obviously we paid for our hotel stopovers & the cruise. The long haul flights were the ones on the A380 - business one way & first class on the way back. Funnily, we prefer business to first class as we're more down to earth people- no-one in first class acknowledged a fellow passenger - no eye contact or smile. Surely when on a long haul flight it is normal to converse with the people you are travelling with? The crew were good though.
In January we had to unfortunately fly back to England @ short notice as Hubbys sister was terminally ill ( only diagnosed for a couple of weeks) so contacted A.F.G. again to explain the situation. Fevos ( one of the managers ) arranged everything within 24 hours & off we went, again with no problems - again flying part first class & part business class. This time we did say " Don't worry about the first class part"- but he said he could do it for the same price, so we did, on the A380 again. This time though, being peak season for people travelling to see family over the festive season ( although that wasn't our reason) the prices were higher Apx. $6000 each. Because of the situation we didn't try to negotiate & so pleased as we may not have been able to get a flight in economy @ that time + we were able to be with her as she passed away.
Sorry about the doom & gloom on that bit, but just wanted to say how good we have found the service through A.F.G. & would thoroughly recommend them. One funny bit was in Heathrow before boarding when trying to check in through the boarding pass gates. A very officious lady demanded to us in a loud voice " Passports & boarding passes !! " I just produced them & looked at her - her attitude changed immediately to a smile & she escorted us to the first class boarding ( maybe sometimes it gives us passengers pleasure to be treated as humans & not sheep). No doubt she went back to her usual demeanor with the rest of the economy passengers.

        • Sounds like a good trip and good prices on the airfares.
