This deal is good but wierd. I don't know what the market is for it. If you have that kinda money your going to want a v6 handstick. It performs so much better than a dc45. Would be better off getting a dc37c and stock v6 for around $800 when they are on special.

    • +2

I agree. Since getting my V6 handstick I don't even use my other vacuum (Miele). The V6 does everything and is so quick and convenient to use. Just grab it and go.

The only annoying thing is it looks like you will never be able to buy the Fluffy roller head separately as an attachment. If you have hard floors it is worth considering buying the Absolute that comes will all attachments.

      • yup. i have a $500 Miele which i loved, but after getting the V6 handstick on special here, i haven't touched the Miele, and find myself vacuuming a lot more now that i have the handstick. i just hope it doesn't break, the portability and lightness of it makes it feel a tad cheap i think.

    • V6 and dc45 have the same suction/air watts, which is 28 aw.
V6 has stronger suction under boost mode, which is 100aw. Where the dc45 can only go up to 65aw.
I use normal 90% of the time. Plus you will only be able to run 6 mins under boost mode.

      • +1

I use max 90% of the time. all the time. Doesn't make any sense not too.

the DC54 is a lot of money to pay for a hunk of plastic and a motor. Dyson have gone down the Apple route of charging a lot more than the competition for what's often a lot less……..and it works.

    • Yeah but just like Apple, it does a better job than it's competitors, of course not perfect but everything has pros and cons.

    • dyson can't be compared to apple. dyson prices are mid range, while apple prices are the top. however, the dc54 does vacuum better than units that twice the price.

      • sorry! I meant to up-vote but missed on the small screen

      • Well they are the most expensive out of the lot of vacuums but they have the technology and performance to back it up though.

** Breaking News - Dyson soon to release the Dyson Pencil **

Now which pencil really sux, Apple?

Just popping by to say I've had the DC54 Animal for a few months now, and it's incredible.

We have dark rugs and a white long haired cat, and before this Dyson, we couldn't find anything to even stir the pet hair from the rug, couches etc. The Dyson sucks it all up from the first go. Bliss!

It comes with a tangle free head attachment, which as the name implies, means that no matter how much hair it's dealing with, the head and brush never clog up. (unlike many others)

Highly recommend the vacuum. The only downside is emptying the canister which fills up scarily fast.

      agree..
we got the DC54 Animal Pro for $640 witht he ebay specials, and its amazing what it picks up.
so much better then our dyson stick.

My $50 Aldi vacuum does the job.. have to clean it out a few times in a sitting but beats paying $1000.

    • +4

I'll guarantee if you run the Dyson over the carpet you just vacuumed with your aldi cleaner, it'll surprise you at the amount of dust it'll
      Pick up

      • +1

Probably.. however this place is a little worn out, might take the carpet out itself!

        • +5

It'll probably suck in your little Aldi vacuum too lol

I've been using Dyson for a number of years now & I can't imagine going back to any other brand.

      • I did similar test when I got my Dyson. Clean the carpet with my old vacuum and then run it over just once with the Dyson and was surprised by the amount of dust the Dyson still manage to pick up.

how many wives do you have to vacuum?

    • +8

I guess you don't have to vacuum each of them, I only do my favourite.

      • +4

Personally, I like to sit on a chair in the corner of the room and watch my wives vacuum each other.

      • Just the ones that have the most cat hair stuck on them

  • Good if you flog off the DC45 on ebay for around $350 odd

  • bought the dc45 from masters earlier this year for 299 plus 3x $15 gift cards.
Bought the dc54 animal pro from eBay last month for $623 after 20% discount and 2.5% cash rewards, woohoo…

This is still a good deal though.

  • in all seriousness, if i am after a really good vacuum, but dont want to pay dysons prices of over $500, what are the cheaper alternatives?

    • Miele, but the bags $$$

    • +2

should have got the V6 handstick with the bonus attachment kit for < $330 a few weeks ago.

i'd highly recommend waiting for another deal on the V6. dont bother with a corded vacuum.

    • +3

Wait for a deal on the V6. Every other month or so someone has a deal going.

    • My cheapo Vac ($70 at JB) is really good. Bagless, cyclonic cleaner. 2000W so its got heaps of grunt

I have a Dyson V6 for the smaller jobs and it is EXCELLENT i have to say. way better than any other handhelds i've ever used

  • Love it just the 6m runtime and needing to have it to get charged for 2h+ is the let down, but everything else is spot on.

    • its 6 minutes on turbo mode, 20 minutes in regular.

  • My Shark Navigator 1st gen never fails me, I have 4 pets inside the house too and always clean as after each vaccumn

  • What are the differences between DC54 Animal Pro & Animal other than their prices?

    • +2

      Tool kit

      • +1

        +1
the differences with Dyson across the same product group are usually to do with the attachments in the box

  • Not a bad deal at all.. but bought DC54 animal few month ago already…

  • They've raised the price on the Animal to $897 now :(

  • +2

Hey everyone As Unco said above the price has been raised but it's $799 in the catalogue which ends today 14th so just take this catalogue in store to get $799 price

  • Would masters price match a multibuy deal?

    • No we won't. It's not a price we are matching, it's a selected stores offer.

  • JB have the DC Animal for $699, tried to get my local GG to price match including the offer but they wouldn't even consider it. They weren't even going to honor the catalogue price at first as the computer price had updated to $897.

  • Dyson is trying to make every household own a dyson.
    Discount and price drops everywhere~

  • Just saying guys, anyone seen the reviews on the DC54… Hardly complimentary.

    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/dyson-dc54.html

2.6 out of 5 stars - hardly thrilling.

    • +1

if you visit dyson's official website…nothings below 4.
      productreview.com is good for complaints…

    • +2

don't pay any attention to the reviews. make up your own mind by trying the dc54 animal pro on carpets with dirt, dust, pet and human hair.

  • Would you guys go with the DC54 Animal Pro + DC45 for $992, or the DC37 + V6 for $995?

    • wait for a 20% on ebay.

the last round was 20% on the dc54 animal pro at $639.20 with $159.80 discount. the dc45 was $298 + $50 voucher.

        It's on!

Bought the DC54 and DC45 for $800 with today's 15% off ebay code (upto $100)

        • Me too, went to pick it up and they were hesitant to give the bonus saying that it didn't apply to eBay orders.
Showed them their T&C's which state eBay orders are allowed and after 20 mins of them asking managers and then calling TGG customer support line, they finally handed it over.

        • Yeah I am a little concerned about the DC45 since TGG says on their site to add it to cart but we are buying from eBay.

          http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/dyson-bonus

        • @unco:

mine went through with no trouble.

because ebay has done the math at check out when i have added the two items… so yea…

the invoice (from TGG) showed the price before discount.
