Simple Tax Returns $20 - Anywhere Tax Mobile App - Assisted Tax Return Service

90

Until 11.59pm 11th September 2015 EST, all simple tax returns are only $20.00

Anywheretax.com.au is a tax app startup that takes the hassle out of your tax return. You can snap photos of your payment summary and receipts, send your information to the Anywhere Tax team through the app, and relax knowing you get your return done for a flat fee. All tax returns are checked by a registered tax agent and communicated to you before lodgement.

The main difference between using the free MyTax software and our app is that your tax return will be checked by a registered tax agent and you will also be contacted by the anywhere tax team to answer your questions before lodgement.

Normally, a simple return is $65, and an advanced return starts from $99.

This app will not suit people who like to do it themselves for free but rather people who would like assistance and advice from an accountant & registered tax agent faster than traditional services.

Until 11.59pm 11th September 2015 EST, all simple tax returns are only $20.00

How to claim

1 - Download the app on this link: https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/id1010626967

2 - Add your details, snap photos of your payment summaries and expense claims

3 - At the Payment screen, select "DEDUCT FROM REFUND" to skip the PayPal screen. IMPORTANT: We will send the refund directly from the ATO to your bank account. Your payment will be made via our payment system that we will link you in the tax estimation email we send you.

Terms and conditions

This deal will expire 11.59pm 11th September 2015 EST

A tax return is considered simple if you are only declaring up to 5 employments, bank interest and up to 10 deductions.

A tax return will be considered complex and will attract standard pricing if you have and declare an ABN, Foreign income or have investment income.

  • Where's your website, ABN, contact details?

Oh, and still not worth $20.

    • It states it on the description :)

Personally, I think this is worth the money. My partner and I usually get our tax returns done for $65 just to make it easier.

      • +1

Thanks Dagmar! For people that do it themselves, it is not worth $20. But for people who like to speak with an accountant rather do DIY then $20 is peanuts :)

Looking forward to help you out and reach out if you have any questions!

My partner and I usually get our tax returns done for $65 just to make it easier.

or you can use MyTax for free…

Hardest part is gathering all your receipts and documentation, which you have to do no matter how you submit it…

        • Hi JV,

This app is not suited for people who like to get their tax done for free as they don't get to speak with an account or tax agent.

This app is for people who usually pay between $65 to $99 but like the convenience of not travelling anywhere or scanning documents!

Regarding the gathering of docs, if you are declaring employments only then most likely our tax agent will already have access to view your payment summaries with the ATO just to make it even easier!

then most likely our tax agent will already have access to view your payment summaries with the ATO just to make it even easier!

The MyTax app already shows you this also… It not something you need to pay extra for.

I'm referring to getting all you receipts and other deductions.

        • @jv: Yes absolutely! But the MyTax app doesn't provide advice on what you can claim back :(

But the MyTax app doesn't provide advice on what you can claim back :(

It sure does… It tells you what you can and can't claim with very useful links to the relevant parts of the ATO website. It's great and very easy to follow.

        • @jv: Awesome! Sounds good. SOunds like you may benefit more from the mytax app :)

        • @Carlos89:

SOunds like you may benefit more from the mytax

          As would most people…

No point wasting $20 when you don't need to…

        • @jv: Definitely agree with you jv, this app doesn't suit everyone as stated in the description :)

QUOTE FROM DESCRIPTION. This app will not suit people who like to do it themselves for free but rather people who would like assistance and advice from an accountant & registered tax agent faster than traditional services.

How is it faster than MyTax ?

        • @jv: MyTax is not a traditional service, it is a new service that uses tech. Traditional services are visiting brick and mortar accountants offices to get your tax done. Our customers love our app because they don't need to travel anywhere or fit into anyone's schedule. They do it based on their own time availability with the added benefit of still having the tax return reviewed before it is lodged.

I like the concept, and price too. But do they first recieve the tax refund, and then sen it to you?

      Hi Chyawala,

      Thanks heaps for your comment!

I'm Carlos, co-founder of this app. For this deal, you will receive the money directly from the ATO. Your money will not pass through our trust accounts.

This will ensure you receive the money as soon as possible :)

      Hi @Strikerzebra,

Ozbargainers not doing simple tax returns themselves? I feel kind of insulted.

  • Can you assist with dealing with tax returns from previous years? i.e. ones that are not accessible through MyTax?

    • +1

      Hi Roadeh,

Yes we can. As long as they are simple tax returns as defined in the description then all you need to do is send an application for each year you wish to claim. You will just need tolet us know the year you are claiming in the comments section of the application.

It will be $20 per year.

      Thanks for your interest :)

  • +1

So does this work for business tax returns?

    • +1

Hi Marchi, the app is designed for simple tax returns but there is a question in the app that asks whether you have an ABN. This will prompt a team member to contact you after you have submitted your application to gather the rest of your information for your business declaration.

Unfortunately, the $20 deal does not apply for business tax returns. They start at $99.

Hi who owns the professional indemnity insurance your company (THE VILLA GROUP PTY LTD) or the tax agent Mr Louis Villanueva?

Also the use of the registered agent symbol seems inappropriate on this page http://www.anywheretax.com.au/about.html as it implies that your company (THE VILLA GROUP PTY LTD) holds the tax agent license.

Also I think ozbargainers would of liked this deal much better https://twitter.com/AnywhereTax/status/638879124572930048 :)

    • Both parties hold the insurance @Ciab :)

The symbol does not imply the company is registered as it explicitly states that the tax agent services are provided in partnership.

Either way, your security, confidentiality and trust is not compromised.

Yes, the free applications were our launch offer :)

Looking forward to help you and reach out if you have any other questions :)

      • +2

        Thanks for the info

Where a registered agent partnership contracts with another entity to provide a tax agent or BAS service, they must use the partnership’s registered agent number in conjunction with the symbol, not the registered agent number of any registered agent partner associated with the partnership.

Quoted from 'Please note: When you display your symbol you must include your registered agent number and type of registration.'

        • Great eye & feedback ciab, Looks like we just need to add the word "individual" before the words!

          Website details:

          Business details
Our services are provided in partnership with "INDIVIDUAL" registered tax agent number: 25208715

          Level 7 / 1 Queens rd,

          Melbourne 3004

          Victoria

          ABN 47 606 184 105

          @Carlos89:

Great eye & feedback ciab, Looks like we just need to add the word "individual" before the words!

So you are in partnership with a "Individual" tax agent, but as per the Tax Agent Board you should have your own partnership registered agent number and not use the "Individual's" registered agent number.

So the use of the registered agent symbol still seems inappropriate on this page http://www.anywheretax.com.au/about.html as it implies that your company (THE VILLA GROUP PTY LTD) holds the tax agent license. See here
Under - Usage - Authorised use of the symbol it talks about the use in partnerships

        • @ciab: Thanks for your information Ciab, looks like you are an expert on the subject. Send us an email to [email protected] and perhaps we can continue this conversation through email or over over the phone :)

I would be more than happy to take your feedback on board and pass it onto our lawyer for review. On the other hand you can also read through our T&C's.

As mentioned we are a startup and feedback is the way we iterate to ensure our customers are looked after.

You can rest assured though that all tax return submissions are looked after by the registered tax agent!

        • @Carlos89: Thanks. But it only took 10-15mins to dig that info up. I just would of thought a team of accountants, a registered tax agent and a tech entrepreneur and your lawyer, would of made sure all your t's were crossed and all your i's were dotted before jumping into a business that deals with a Federal Government Department (ATO) and individual's personal details.

You just need to read up on running a registered agent partnership

        • @ciab: Great stuff Ciab :) We are aware of the partnership tax agent registration and it was explored but it is not something that we require as we are using the services of an individually registered tax agent.

          Have a splendid day :)

  • +1

Are you all qualified accountants? So $20, do you halve your time so that this will be done in under 30 minutes?

    • +1

Hi 2jzzzz, absolutely we are! Your counting on a team of accountants, a registered tax agent and a tech entrepreneur! We don't halve our time at all and we treat all our customers the same whether they are paying $20, $65 or $99.

As you can see, this is a limited offer and expires tomorrow. We are a startup and we are willing to work the hard yards to get the word out on what we are doing!

      We are just passionate!

Looking forward to help you out :)

  • +2

Personally, I would not be comfortable sending my personal details (TFN, dob, bank account details, employment details) to someone online I've never met before no matter how cheap the service was.

    • Thanks Jetli, definitely a realistic concern and we respect that!

      Have a great day :)

      • +1

Just putting it out there, but good luck if you are a genuine/honest service provider.

        • Thanks Jetli, appreciate the blessing :) :)

  • Hi Carlos!

You sound like a very cheerful guy!
    I like that!

I’ve got a few questions that seem reasonable, especially given you’re a new online service.
Indeed your private company was only registered in June this year.

It appears from your website that your firm is in partnership with Mr Louis Villanueva (registered tax agent number: 25208715).

Is he the only tax agent you use?

The commented sections below are from your T&Cs.

By agreeing to our terms and conditions, you also agree to accept the terms of our privacy policy, which are on our website.

Where is your Privacy Policy, as I cannot find it on your website?
My experience is that many organisations seek to exclude themselves from specific protections I might usually enjoy under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), so I’m curious if that is the case here.

You agree that any information provided to us is provided at your own risk.

    This seems rather broad.
It suggests that your partnership takes no responsibility for protecting any of my private information.
    Is this true?

You agree that we are not responsible for any tampering with, or hacks to our system by third parties.

This suggests a lack of confidence in your own systems.
Does that seem a reasonable analysis to you?

You agree that neither we, nor the registered tax agent are responsible for any loss you suffer due to any errors the registered tax agent makes when checking any information you have given us.

I would have thought a professional partnership would take responsibility for their paid professional work, but this term seems to exclude that.
    Is this true?

We will charge you $65 (including GST) for a simple tax return, being a tax return that contains up to:

    ..
    3. total deductions below $[??]; and
    ..

This suggests your website is a little half-baked.
Am I reasonable in being concerned about you dealing with my private financial affairs given your T&Cs have this incomplete entry?

You agree that you are bound by any new terms and conditions immediately, upon these being updated on our website and/or our app.

That does not seem reasonable to me, given I am unlikely to read your T&Cs constantly, and in any case it wouldn’t matter as according to this term I would be bound anyway.
This essentially means I am bound by whatever you say, the moment you say it.
    What do you think?

You authorise the registered tax agent to:

    ..
collect any information from third parties (eg your employer or superannuation fund) that is necessary to lodge your tax return
    ..

So quite apart from the personal information that you would collect directly from me, there may well be a great deal of additional information that you may end up holding that I’m not even aware of.

It is for this reason that I happen to be concerned about the breadth of the exclusions and disclaimers that you have made.

I would welcome your clear and cheerful response to each of these questions.

    BTW, i hate Jetskis!

    • Hi Carlos!

I'm disappointed you have chosen not to respond to my questions, as i can see you were here earlier today responding to others.

This is unfortunate as i generally seek to support new players in any market.

The questions i have asked are designed to assist users of OB to assess the bona fides and suitability of your deal.

My experience is that when an organisation is not prepared to provide clarity in relation to how they use sensitive private information, and the circumstances in which they may release it to others, that there is a serious problem.

I would therefore discourage anyone using this service as there are simply too many 'red flags'.
The unsustainable pricing is another warning signal.

The bottom line is this: if they appear incapable of developing a fairly clear front end to their services (namely their website), they are unlikely to be up to the more complex task of protecting your interests.

      • Hi Steamtrain,

Thank you for your follow up. We are quite flat out with this deal yesterday and today but will follow up with you.

        Thanks.

        • That would be good.

Keep in mind Google searches often pick up OzBargain posts, so I believe it's important to your new business to address issues that are raised here.

  • Hi, I filled out forms with your app tonight. 8.30pm AEST to get the deal. I couldn't find the deduct from refund but found a pay later button. Trust this is correct.

  • +2

Still nothing from my good mate Carlos, and only 87 clicks through to the deal, which would only translate to a few bites if that.

So much for his "we are quite flat out with this deal". Yeah, sure. You didn't know about the publication of the click rate did you?

But the bottom line is this: he said he would follow up, he's had almost a week to do so, and hasn't.
He very obviously doesn't wish to answer the questions, which is telling.

Keep in mind you can't talk to them, unless they choose to call you.

And Carlos, a bit of free advice. Always deal first with the questions that have the potential to do most damage to your business. Ignoring them is not damage-control, it is damage-encouraging.

Your good cheer is very clearly manufactured - who needs it?
