Not too sure what you need to do to claim this, as usually you have print off the Borders thing..

mod - nice editing. I'm moving the image lower in the text so it doesn't take up space on the new deals page

  • would full priced refer to rrp or the normal price border sells at?

    • I assume it would be off BRP (Border's Recommended Pricing)

  • Even though Borders can sometimes seem expensive at times, their 30-40% off deals are still unbeatable.

    • Just goes to show how large their mark-up is.
For those who want really cheap books all the time - check out www.bookdepository.co.uk.
Most of the time cheaper than amazon or any local bookstores (even after the 40% off borders full-price).

    • It's a great deal to take a walk around and check out, wouldn't say it's 'unbeatable', though. Book Dep is still more often than not, in my experience (and especially with strong dollar atm), >40% cheaper than Borders non-discounted prices.

  • Borders prices have became really competitive lately, especially in their online stores. Just an example, "The Breaking Dawn" by Stephenie Meyer is going now (at the current time when this post is published) for $20.20 (bookdepository.co.uk) and $19.02 (bookdepository.com), but it's only $16.97 in Borders online store, which also comes with free delivery!

you can use www.booko.com.au to compare a book between border's online store, book depo, the amazons, etc.
Includes shipping fees and does the currency conversion for you.

      • wow - really nice tip - thanks

A book I've been looking for "Happiness Handbook" by Tim Sharp - average price is in the mid $20 range:
        - Borders - $50.95 !!! (at least the shipping is free)
        - Emporium Books - $21.70 - with free shipping

Are Borders prices really that insane?

        • Not sure about emporium books but all australian book stores are significantly dearer due to parallel import restrictions, plus we don't pay GST on stuff purchased overseas.

  • So does anyone know how we can claim this?
Like the OP says, there's no print out page with a barcode as per usual.
I've got a few gift vouchers from xmas that need spending

    • I gather it's just standard and storewide not needing a voucher this time round. They do do that occasionally, though not so often that it isn't a little disconcerting when there is no physical voucher…

  • wow this is a great offer. I was looking around to buy a book which borders has for $57. Add 2 maybe $2 little kiddies books and get a full 40% off. I mean i hope my theory works. Or is there a restriction on what kind of books can one buy

  • Has anyone succesfully claimed it yet?

Went in this afternoon but there were no signs anywhere about the deal.
Looked at a few books but was pi$$ed off the prices are well above Australian RRP so I came home and used Book Depository instead.

    • Bought a book this evening, no coupons required. Told cashier about the 25%, which he was aware of. Gave me the discount without further questions.

  • heading to Bondi today to have a look. Gotta say, I miss the borders in pittstreet mall. I hope it returns once them buildings are done renovating

    • so there are no borders anywhere else in the city?

  • +1

Popped by Borders last night. It's a storewide offer, so you don't need a coupon/voucher. There are A4-sized posters around, but they weren't displayed plainly in sight (print-out is exactly the same as OP's image). I had to look around for it for a bit. They were stuck to the sides of the book shelves.

    • i think they're trying to keep things on the low….. so not every average joes and janes will pop in and buy

  • I wish Argus and Robertson (brick and mortar stores) would have something like that.
I know which 3 books I would buy.

    • borders is also a brick and mortar store, they've got stores all over the place

  • The problem with these massive discounts is that customers will know that the merchants can potentially discount everything by 40% and still make a profit, which will makes customers think they got massively ripped off when they go next time buying something without discounts.
