Access More Netflix Movies and Shows + BBC iPlayer and Hulu Plus - $15 for 12 Months @ uFlix

1280
oeck

Edit: sorry everyone, didn't realise ozbargain expires the deal the day after it is set. We will keep the deal running through until Monday night (tonight).

Hi everyone,

This offer is for a 12 month subscription to uFlix for $15.

uFlix is a service that allows you to expand your Netflix content library using technology known as smartDNS. It also allows you to unblock Hulu and BBC iPlayer.

By masking your location and making you appear in a different country (region), Netflix will display different content depending on where you tell it you are. This is simply done by a click on your uFlix control panel.

How do I use my coupon?
Once you sign up for free, go to "subscription" in your control panel and type in "Oeck" in the coupon box and click save.

Deal Information:
After much discussion we have decided to run one last deal for uFlix. Later this year we are going to be changing the company name and expanding services we provide (Free VPN's, Paid VPN's, more channels, more devices, apps). OzBargain is a great community and we will run this deal one last time for the people who missed it last time. All uFlix customers will have free account upgrades with the release of uFlix v2 (which will change its name to Oeck).

Please note, you will only have until the 14th to make the payment. This deal can not be stacked on top of the two week free trial we offer.

I will be here to answer any questions you guys have and I look forward to speaking to all of you.

Thanks.

        • @uFlix: True. A pain to switch but guess you cant have your cake and eat it too :-)

        • @britta:

The apps will make this a lot easier. You can just save the region selection page as a bookmark and access it that way for now :)

          Thanks.

  • My only internet connection is via a 4g hotspot. I think that means I can not use Uflix. Is that correct?

    • Hi Supernanny,

Yes, unfortunately you can not use it on uFlix. Oeck will support 3G/4G, but I would hold off on purchasing.

      Thanks.

  • Seems extremely unstable for me using the trial. Sometimes all my devices connected have DNS issues. My router only has one option for DNS Server not a primary and secondary which may be the issue if the primary DNS fails. Going to test out Getflix and see if I have the same issue.

    • Hi R3XNebular,

It may be IPv6 causing issues. Try switching IPv6 off in your router and see if it helps.

      Thanks.

      • Is this a common issue? Might just bridge my Telstra modem to a seperate router that allows me to have a primary and secondary DNS. Will do it tomorrow since this deal will last til Monday.

        • Hi R3XNebular,

Yes. ISP's have started rolling out IPv6 and it is causing issues from time to time. If you can disable IPv6, I believe this will fix the problem.

Please also don't forget that you can submit a support ticket, and it will be looked into more thoroughly than on here.

          Thanks.

  • Does all network traffic route through this or does that not apply to a DNS vs a proxy?

    • Hi carlitos,

No, only small amounts of traffic route through this. It is only traffic from Netflix, Hulu and BBC iPlayer that tries to find your location.

      Thanks.

  • sorry to cut through the chatter. is this essentially a paid vpn service for $15 per yr with servers hosted in AU?

    • Hi avexdevil,

No. uFlix is more of a lite proxy service which only proxy's a small amount of traffic to hide your location from the supported channels.

      Thanks.

  • What zip code do people use for Hulu?

    • Try your own zip code with the number 1 at the end of it. Or try 90210 :)

      Thanks.

      • Hulu does not accept non-US paypal account, so I give up. Is this the same for Netflix US?

        • You should use a credit card directly with hulu.

Please switch our service to "Turn Off" in your uFlix panel if you are about to sign up to Netflix. If you sign up and you have a region set, it will bill you in the regions currency. Once you set up an account, you can then turn the service back on.

          Thanks.

  • Had uflix for a while now. Pretty good service. Their servers went down a few times so i had to change my dns back to default to get back on the web.

    9/10 would recommend.

    • Yea had that issue. That worries me. My partner wouldn't have a clue on how to change the DNS. If the DNS goes down without me at home she won't be able to access the internet. The DNS is flakey.

      • You should always set up two DNS servers. Should one go down, it will pick up our other DNS server.
We are however changing ISP's for our Sydney server when Oeck is launched to Softlayer, so it should be more stable.

        Thanks.

        • Agreed, I think I will be purchasing your service tomorrow. Just got to find my old router. Telstra router only allows one DNS.

        • @R3XNebular:

          Awesome! Welcome to uFlix.

          Thanks.

  • This looks appealing to me, but I recently got 6months free from freedome VPN (on which does not work for PS3)…

    • Hi televisi,

uFlix is not a VPN. If you need a service for simply unblocking Netflix, Hulu and BBC iPlayer and want the fastest speed to the stream, uFlix is more suited to you. However, a VPN is much better for online security.

      Thanks.

  • Hi rep, my download speed is only around 5mbps.
To access Netflix Australia it is fine and I can what HD movies etc.
Question, last time I tried a DNS free trial for another company I could get all the extra Netflix content but at the price of quality.
Is this going to be the same with your service? Even movies that were available on the AU site were downgraded to a lesser quality. I don't want to sign up if this is the case.

    David.

    • +1

      Hi David,

That is due to the load on your ISP's network. The connection is direct between you and the streaming service. When you watch Australian Netflix you are downloading from Australian servers so your connection is fast. If you are watching Netflix USA for example, it needs to download from offshore servers, so it will be slower.

You can test this by checking your quality from USA Netflix during peak and off-peak times, and you will notice a quality difference.

Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about this, as it is a physical limitation of Australian infrastructure.

      Unfortunately there is only two ways to fix this problem for you;

      1. Get your internet service with another ISP (possibly Cable).
      2. When elections come up, vote for a party who will support FTTP NBN and not the crap Turnbull is pushing.

      Thanks.

  • Hi Rep,

This deal can not be stacked on top of the two week free trial we offer.

I would like to trial this today and see how it works for me.

If I take the free trial does that prevent me getting this price?

Or does it just mean my 12 months would start tomorrow and not 14 days later?
    Ta.

      Hi foonman,

You will be able to Trial it until tomorrow. On Sunday at 11:59PM we are going to remove the feature of the coupon, so it will not work past that time. So you can play around with the service today and test it out, and if you are happy with it, make sure you make your transaction by tomorrow at 11:59PM to get the $15 price.

      Thanks.

      • Cheers thanks for the quick reply

  • Picture quality is worse on US Netflix. Anyone else notices that? I'm on Optus Cable.

    • Hi nfr,

This is normal. When viewing Netflix from another region, you will be downloading your stream from offshore servers. Depending on how busy your ISP's network is, it will get slower. Off-peak will have better quality to peak times.

Also, try let it play for a few minutes and see if that helps.

      Thanks.

  • Is this post still open for comments & answers from Store Rep ?????????

    • It is until tonight :)

What can I help you with?

  • As a very basic PC user, pen & ink , calculators not invented, this was the norm in my school days .So normal English in reply would be much appreciated , not too much confusing IT language.
If I take out a 12 month UFlix subscription in the above $15 deal, will that allow me to download data from Netflix to Save & Access the Files to a External Hard Drive & be able to watch at my own convenience ? .
Do you join Netflx first or UFlix ? Australian or US Netflix ? How complicated is this system to set up & operate , including External Hard Drive
Saturdays post on this site WD , External 2TB External Hard Drive $80+, Is this a suitable buy regarding price & reliability to commence a movie library using the UFlix system ?
Hope I havn't missed the boat & there are still some IT experts or Store Rep willing to advise me on this situation.
Thanking you who ever is there .

    • If I take out a 12 month UFlix subscription in the above $15 deal, will that allow me to download data from Netflix to Save & Access the Files to a External Hard Drive & be able to watch at my own convenience ? .

No…Netflix (either when used in conjunction with Uflix or not) is a streaming service only, so there are no downloads.

Do you join Netflx first or UFlix ? Australian or US Netflix ? How complicated is this system to set up & operate

You join Netflix first (it is a global account…when people refer to AU or US, it is the libraries of movies and TV shows available to that region they are referring to, not the actual account)…

…then if you want to access other libraries in other parts of the world, you buy a Uflix subscription, which "tricks" Netflix into thinking you are located in another country (eg: US), meaning you can access their library too.

      • Thank you Kirt ——— The Jigsaw Puzzle is starting to fit to-gether

        • No probs.

Might be best to just start with the free Netflix trial.

Then if it works well, get the Uflix trial too, and then you can decide what you need.

    • Hi,

Kirt pretty much explained it perfectly. Our service will run on your wd.

      Thanks.

  • I use OpenDNS in my router.
Would I have to lose this to use uFlix with our Netflix on our PS3 and Xbox 360s ?

    Thanks

    • Hi,

You can set our DNS on your individual devices and it can work that way.

      Thanks.

      • Thank you.

Will this have any impact on PS3 gaming ?

        • Hi,

          Nope. It will remain unaffected.

          Thanks.

  • Hi Store Rep, Thanks for reply , but I'm confused .Basic IT Knowledge , but trying & willing to learn .
Will your service allow me to watch Netflix Data on my PC & also allow that data to be transferred to a external Hard Drive , so I can watch at my leisure when ever it suits , also create a Library for future use ?
As I understand from Kirts reply , this is not possible .
    Thanking you

    • Hi,

Sorry, this is not possible. Our service only hides your location.

      Thanks.

    • Netflix is a streaming service, you cannot download anything from it to watch at a later time and netflix currently have no plans to implement this. Uflix just gives you access to the netflix movies and shows in a different country

  • What's wrong with the Sydney server? I see red on network status.

    • Hi nfr,

It should be up again. BIND went down temporarily but is now up and running.

      Thanks.

  • im slowly migrating from Netflix to Popcorn time.

  • oh…no! missed it!
