Reviews on this product are terrible. Found here http://www.apple.com/au/shop/reviews/MD506X/A/apple-85w-mags…

Yep replaced mine twice. Ended up getting rid of my macbook brought a pc

Usually you can take them back to Apple and they will replace them as long as they don't look too abused. They have to honour the ACL 2 year warranty and ensure that they don't fail under 'normal' wear and tear within 2 years. I've seen it done many times.

Is it just me or does that price tag remind me of Kmart.

    • +1

I didn't even see the store in the title and assumed it was Kmart.

  • Stock up on these while they're cheap. They connections break very easily, which is weird for an apple product. I'm surprised they havent changed the design despite the numerous negative reviews. i'm on my fourth charger now.

    • Lol, stocking up on power adapters.

  • lol Apple. Those prices are laughable.

  • Does anyone have any experience with the el cheapo non-gen versions that go on fleaBay?
I am also on my second Magsafe unit for my Macbook and it is on its last legs. Sure, the Macbook is about to blow out six candles and I use it nearly every day, and the battery is on the way out as well. But are the genuine ones that much better?

DO NOT DO IT!!!!! I got one they are more trouble than they are worth. I got it through a gadget store in Perth for $60. Went through 2 before gave up and they gave a refund. First went with a loud bang, the second lasted a day!! The cheap ones make the pointer skip all over the place when using the trackpad as well.

That said I ended up taking a risk and bought a genuine one from ebay (95% sure its genuine and hasn't caused any troubles). This has been fine, but only a few dollars less than this deal which if I had the chance is what I would have done.

Yeah bought a compatible one before and they suck!

    • +1

Yeah, not worth it. I got a fake and it blows.

    • from the comments it seems like they might be 'shocking'

The other option is to just buy the cable and solder it in. It's a hassle though if you aren't experienced in pulling stuff apart!

    PC master race reporting in.

  • Great find, thanks! Snagged one at DJs Melbourne CBD (they said it was the last one tho). Pretty sure this is a pricing error…
