- They need to advertise the prices with GST included.
- The prices are shown with an asterisk (*), however nowhere on the page does it have a key for it telling you what the condition is.
Ask them if they'd like to provide the service for $76 including GST as advertised, or if they'd rather deal with the ACCC?
Prices shown on an advert must be 'inclusive of GST',
Although on their website it says:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: All pricing is GST Inclusive unless otherwise stated and is only available to approved customers.
Do you have the bill with an itemised list of all the charges? It should also show the charge amount inclusive of the GST.
Compare this value against the amount you paid. If it doesn't match, and they are claiming you have underpaid your bill, you have the right to complain
dodgy AF
Are you sure you have read the invoice correctly?
The website definitely inficatre that all prices include GST.
Glad to hear you have the problem sorted.
So it makes sense to anyone reading your post, (and can't be bothered looking at your revision) I have quoted your question.
Hi guys
I've signed up for 12 months on a NBN plan with Spirit Telecom and so far it's turned out to be a horrible decision. Poor speeds and customer service and difficulty with the billing department.
I received a late payment fee because I paid $76 for the first months usage, when the actual cost was $76 + GST. You can see the plans here, which shows $76 * as the pricing for my plan.
At no point was I clearly made aware that the GST cost was not included in the monthly cost. I may be wrong but looking at the ACCC website (https://www.accc.gov.au/business/pricing/displaying-prices) on topic it clearly states that the cost of GST must be included unless it is for business to business transactions.
Is this a misleading price and is there anything I can do to exit the plan if this is the case?
It appears that Spirit are breaking the law with their pricing. Ask them to cancel the service on the basis that they have not charged you the advertised price. If they refuse, go to the ombudsman. You could also bring the issue to the notice of the ACCC.
