Starting tomorrow, Dick Smith are taking 10% off Apple Mac (excludes iPad and built to order machines. Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.). Details are on the front page of "Last Minute Dad's Day Deals" catalogue. If you were lucky enough to take advantage of the additional 10% top-up on Gift Cards from Coles, then this is almost as good as previous offers (although nowhere near as good as the 15% off OzBargain exclusive on 10/7/2015).
If you know of any more ways to increase this saving, please add comments below.(Apologies for the low quality picture, I didn't have access to decent camera. Be kind, this is my first post).

Good guys have 256gb model for $1619
i asked at a store once. They didn't know why but said they could order them in and a lot of stores had them.
My guess is they aren't listed online so that they don't have to honour any online specials?thanks, ill ask a store soon then. good guys is useless to me because i don't have $1700 worth of gift cards with them.
The 12" MacBook (or "MacBook One" as it has just one port) is a strange fish for inventory, even Apple Stores didn't have many.
The best explanation I've heard is that Apple was keeping inventory very constrained as the product is likely to have a short lifespan, with a Rev 2 model based on the recently released and more efficient Skylake-U chip coming sooner rather than later.
So, unlike a typical MacBook/Pro, it may not see out 1 year before a revision.
It's a cute machine to be sure, but unless you really have the need for one right now, I'd wait for Rev 2.
will have a need for one in about <2 months, so it's a big deal for me. i can't go light packing with the 13" retina model i currently have. i really need to shave off the 500grams.
if it's released at their new event soon, then sure, otherwise i need to buy soon.
i know initially it wasn't available easily, but i think it's caught up now. jb hifi stock them, and i don't think there's much of, if any wait at apple stores now.
I suspect it's because Dick Smith handles the electronics online orders from David Jones, and there's not enough 12" MBs to go around. If you go on the David Jones site, you'll find the 12" Retina MacBooks listed there — they usually go out of stock pretty quickly whenever there's a sale.
BTW just a word of warning that ordering stuff online from David Jones can be a pain in the arse. It took me over 3 weeks to get my MacBook after ordering it because they kept stuffing up my credit details during their CC verification check. Took 4 phone calls to finally resolve it.
Does anyone know if we can combine this with Woolworths staff discount?
No you cannot.
Can't seem to find an online version of this catalogue anywhere.
I tried to find link through DSE and Lasoo, but had no luck, which is why I uploaded the photo. Hopefully catalogue will be online tomorrow.
You can get an extra 10% off (total 20% off) when purchasing dick smith gift cards from coles, was supposed to end on the 1st but I bought a bunch yesterday as they still honoured the deal, good luck!
When you say "still honoured" does that mean it required manual intervention from a staff member and you had to convince them to do it for you?
I just asked at the checkout and she said sure, i'll apply it.
sounds fishy. i don't know of any coles checkout operator that can do an extra 10% off an already automated (i know because i've bought them, it's automated) 10% off from their catalogue.
Agreed, I asked at some in WA yesterday and they said they wouldn't know how to do it
I just got the discount in WA so I think it's nationwide. I asked in Coles yesterday and they said they didn't think it would work but decided to try a $50 card and check the balance and sure enough it worked so I bought $2k worth and just got a new rMBP.
Page 12 of the Hearldsun (3 sep 2015) coles advert states that the Dick Smith 10% bonus is extended until 06/09/2015 whilst stock lasts.
The catalogue is now on the Dick Smith Website (catalogues.dicksmith.com.au). As I am seriously thinking about purchasing a MacBook Pro. Can anyone advise at what point the 10% discount applies online, is that at the end after you have signed in to your account? I looked at the list of All Models and it appears that only some have had the 10% off applied. Am I better off going into a store? If you missed out on Coles additional 10% Gift Card offer, then if you are a member of Motoring Association (e.g. RAA) then you can purchase 5% discount on Woolworths Gift Cards that work at Dick Smith online.
I didn't think that wish gift cards still worked at Dick Smiths?
Also, a better way to get wish gift cards is through cash rewards, free to join and you instantly get 5% of wish egift cards that are emailed to you as a pdf.
I got fed up trying to buy wish cards from RAA as they were always 'sold out'.I was able to use up the remains of a few Woolworths Gift Cards to purchase a 2TB Toshiba Portable Hard Drive back in April. Worked fine. I tried to use Groupon BigW eVoucher (prior to the leak of personal information) and it wasn't accepted. I'm lucky with regards to RAA Wish Cards, as all recent visits they have been available.
Thanks, do they sell 15" Macbook Pro's at all in their stores? Never see them online anymore.
Does the 10% discount apply to Mac accessories such as an Apple Magic Trackpad?
I'm assuming only a Mac computer is discounted, but "Apple Mac" is sort of an umbrella term and things like a MagSafe power adapter and Apple USB SuperDrive are all on the same page, so the ad wording is a bit ambiguous.
Officeworks did a price beat for iMac 5k 3.5 GHz.I paid $2735.14 for which Dicksmith price is $2879.10
Can anyone provide a screenshot of the 10% off Coles discount dicksmith gift cards, I can't seem to find the newspaper at any newsagents and a Coles have agreed to honour the deal if I can present any proof.
Dick smith and bj hifi will give 10% off apple stuff all year if you just ask.
Hornsby DSE have no Apple products in stock for months now… others I've been to in the Sydney CBD seem to be winding back/reducing. They must be getting out/reducing inventory. Perhaps the behemoth (WW) is incapable of retailing without scale, just like Coles ran Harris Technology up to full-speed (into a brick wall). What are they thinking up there?
yeah i'm guessing dick is going to rid of most apple products altogether soon. which is why i jumped, as i'd have 1700 of vouchers effectively worthless cos i certainly wouldn't buy anything else there.
low margins, easier to rip people off with cheap shoddy blenders.
anyone know why they don't sell/stock 12" macbooks? there's even an ad for it on their site but it goes nowhere..
