designed for illegitimate use, so download it illegitimately for free!!

That said, I don't agree with pirating even if the software is primarily written for less than honorable intent!!

      • illegal things often are

Is it illegal to remove DRM from something you already paid for?

        • I'd assume its illegal but never enforced. Could be wrong

I'd assume it is legal if you paid for and download the file.

What do they care what you do with it if you aren't going to give it away or sell it to others…

          you'd think so..(www.ibtimes.com)

That's in the UK, in Australia you can

You can copy your legitimately acquired music, for example a purchased CD or music legitimately downloaded from the internet, if:

The copy is for your private and domestic use only; and
The copy is for playing on a different device.

        • @jv: I was just giving an example of where companies do care what you do with it. But I guess it's just against the terms of the company, maybe not illegal.

          like Kindle terms of use:

In addition, you may not bypass, modify, defeat, or circumvent security features that protect the Kindle Content.

Once you pay for it, it's yours, not theirs… So unless what you do with it is illegal, they can go jump…

          @jv: no.

        • @jv: no, you own a license for the content on whatever medium it happens to be

          Not for me.

They have to agree to my terms and conditions. It's clearly stated on my website (in fine print).

If they accept my payment and allow me to download the content, the file belongs to me once it's on my hard disk.

  • So if it's drm protected should you really convert it???
