  • Is this one the same as http://www.laserco.com.au/NAVC-703FHD-car-crash-camera-full-…

    Is this one good ?

  • LASER company price is $79.95, how come EBay says RRP $99.99?

That's true, I bought one off eBay for $30.

+1 I have two, one mounted in the front and in the rear. Both take pretty good quality videos, even at night.

      • I'm amazed at it's night time performance. Takes better night videos than my LG G2.

      • How do you power them? One of my main concerns is how ugly the cables will look. I'm a car noob, all I know is the 12v ciggy jacks. Can I pull power from somewhere and hard wire it?

This brand doesn't have a really good reputation, from my own personal experience i use to have a Navig8r Crash Camera and it lasted about 6months before the video started turning dark with lines and terrible when on-coming light or the sun when in direct view. then the plastic started to warp and melted, couldn't take out my memory card anymore :/

i would steer away from this brand for all electronic devices not worth it!

  • 200mAh battery? that's not going to be recording on its own for long :\

    • It doesn't have to. Don't know of many which have a huge battery. They usually just have enough battery to turn itself off without shutting itself uncleanly.

      • mine do (DVR-027/207's not made by Laser). they run off nokia bl-5c batteries for up to 3 hours

        • True, but majority of dashcams don't is the thing.
If you check on Foxoffer (which contains quite alot of different dashcams), you will see 90% of them have small batteries.

The usual reason why they don't is that the heat in the car usually screws up the battery quite quickly.
To avoid this, some dashcams even made Super Capacitor versions, which doesn't even require a battery at all to do a clean shutdown.

The only reason why i'd think you'd need a bigger battery or something, is for parking recording.

        • @lplau: hence my original comment that with a measly battery capacity, they shouldn't have bothered at all with a battery if it wasn't really meant for parked recording.

with regards to the battery, my original nokia batteries haven't had a problem with heat. they usually last about 2 summers before i replace them to get longer recording times from a new battery. same with the dashcams; no problems coping with heat even for the rather cheapo build quality. (the windscreen mounts, however, tend to fail after a year or so)

  • If you want a crappy dash cam from an Aussie store, this one is cheaper - Uniden In Car Crash Cam iGo 320 $46.00

    Otherwise go for the G1W-C - https://dashcamtalk.com/g1w/

    • uniden are even worst! holy crap they are crap!

I love watching people squabble over deals like this.

Do a little bit of research and you'll soon work out what's what.

There are quite a few different models available with different chips. I'd be stretched paying $30 posted for this one.
