  • Great Deal! KFC Midland also has 24 nuggets for $10.

  • fight to KFC

  • +17

72 grams of fat and about 4700 kj

Not that anyone thought this was health food, just putting it for reference

    • Is KFC one healthier?

      • +8

        Nope

        • Are you sure about that? The KFC nuggets we had recently were a lot thinner (less meat) than the McDonalds nuggets.

That is to say, I'm pretty certain they'd have very different per nugget kilojoules (KFC ones would probably be almost half the calories, and a greater fried batter to chicken ratio).

Both pretty terrible for you though

        • +7

          @competecarrot:
          KFC 24 nuggets - 6211KJ
          McDonalds 24 nuggets - 4640KJ

        • Very surprising. Probably comes down to the fried batter in my view (if the numbers above are accurate)

        • @rapoot6:

Holy crap, that's a pretty big difference!

Oh well, thanks KFC… but getting my nuggets from Macca's!

        • +5

The energy number for the 24 KFC nuggets includes 4 sauces though, the Maccas total is just the nuggets, so if you subtract the sauces it is:

          KFC: 5400kj
          McD: 4640kj

          The breakdown of nutrients is:

          24 McNuggets: carbs:protein:fat- 54g:63g:72g
          24 KFCuggets: carbs:protein:fat- 84g:74g:74g

So KFC has more energy simply due to bigger nuggets. But importantly also has more meat than batter as opposed to Maccas who have more batter than meat. It's a double whammy in favor of KFC.

        • Sorry I made some mixups, firstly a mistake in the nutrition for KFC nuggets, Correction: KFCuggets carbs:protein:fat- 74g:84g:74g

I also wrongly said Maccas nuggets have more batter than meat. Correction: Both KFC and Maccas have similar ratio of batter.

Conclusion: KFC nuggets are bigger than Maccas, it is a single (not double) whammy in favor of KFC :)

        • @TRANCE:

I appreciate the analysis Trance, thanks mate :).

So in conclusion there's not much difference between them and just go with your gut (quite literally) :).

Back to KFC I go then!

      • +4

Don't think anyone's eating either nuggets for the nutritional value

    • +2

      carbs:protein:fat

      54g:63g:72g
      1116cal

Not bad for a protein fix or bulking if your only current option is fast food.

      • But the fat content is ridiculous, that is not good for bulking so much as getting fat. A good ratio of carb:protein:fat is approx 50:30:20

      • nice replacement for

        daily fat consumption

        and 2 scoops of protein

        loll

    • How many grams of actual chicken per nugget?

      • How many actual nuggets per chicken?

        • +3

well, if it's a boy chicken, it's pretty obvious

  • +3

ohhh I like competition too bad KFC nuggets taste much nicer, just like how their $1 Frozen Cokes taste like water compared to Hungry Jack's $1 Frozen Coke

    • +6

Frozen water is healthier compared to frozen coke though.

      • +4

If I wanted water I would get an Ice Cold water for $1 from Hungry Jacks

        • +2

Ain't small water and ice free?

        • @chinezejew: only establishments that serve alcohol are obliged to offer free drinking water

        • +1

For the record, I have never been refused for a small cup of ice water.

          Back in the day:
          2x 30c cones + Topping (50c) + Oreos + cup of ice water = $1.60?

    • +5

Hungry Jacks also gives you free salad, free sauce, a shake and win app, regular vouchers and $1 water bottles.
      Macca's…. doesn't ;)

      • how do you get a free salad from HJ? would love to find out, if there is a way. thank you

        • +5

They let you add salad stuff for free onto burgers (ie. Lettuce, tomato, etc)

        • +7

Any burger you want, tell them you want "heavy ***"
***tomato, lettuce, pickle, jalapeƱo, beetroot, onion, etc.. You can also ask to have any burger in a wrap instead of the bun, and sometimes I ask for an egg and bacon muffin with the salad on the side!
Washing it down with a free shake and win large OJ

        • +7

I didn't know about having burgers in a wrap! I think the menu just expanded considerably.

        • @ozy: not every store is free. Some stores will charge you for extras.

        • @Orpheus: I believe you, but not in my experience to date.

        • @Orpheus: they are not supposed to unless it is a promo item that is significantly cheaper

      • +2

Hungry Jacks nuggets taste like crap. Stick with Maccas or KFC if you actually care about your taste buds.

        • Stick with Maccas or KFC if you actually care about your taste buds.

I feel sorry for your taste buds

        • +2

          I agree with mdippa..

Bite into a HJs nugget and all the slushy grease/oil comes out of the chicken

  • +7

I give it a +1 for price matching but imo Kfc nuggets are a million times better

    • +1

If only they are as cripsy as McD's

  • +5

We all like a bit healthy competition

    • Health competition

      • Cealth Hompetition

        • +9

          Stealth Trampopetition?

  • +2

I am curious. Are the nuggets in KFC any healthier than Maccas?

    • +42

Is Kim Kardashian any less trampy than Paris Hilton?

      • +2

Only one of those is a "go large" though.

        • +1

          Don't hate on Kim :(

      • +2

It's like comparing 2 lots of turd:)

    • +11

Are the nuggets in KFC any healthier than Maccas?

      That sentence is obesely wrong!

    • +5

      KFC 24 nuggets - 6211KJ
      McDonalds 24 nuggets - 4640KJ

      • +18

So kfc could market theirs as giving you more energy

        • McDonald's nuggets are more crunchy and tasty while KFc's are very soft and old.

        • +1

So kfc could market theirs as giving you more energy

I can see the campaign now……

          Try KFC's new energy-rich Nutri-Nuggets(TM) - "More Fat So You're Not Flat"

      • +2

so surely the McDonald's ones deserve a Heart Foundation "Tick" of approval

    • No.

    • That's like asking if I have a name

      • Well, do ya punk?

  • anyone know when this offer will finish?

    • 'This promotion is only available in Victoria and Tasmania. Starts Monday. Limited time.'

My time machine is in for repairs this weekend; I'll get back to you on Monday.

      • Any update about when this offer will finish?

  • Funny how they advertise this just as this video came out a few days ago about Mcdonald's Chicken McNuggets

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=153&v=-UWcQLtpAKU

  • +7

I wonder what flavoring maccas use opposed to KFC 11 secret herbicides and pesticides

    • +1

      hehe, It's a secret!

    • +8

You sound like jv. I'm pretty sure it is a bargain as their 24 nuggets normally cost a lot more

      • But perhaps, like a deal from Costco has "membership required " this deal should have "free cardiovascular disease" added to it.

    • +20

You could try this other great feature called a mental filter. It's requires briefly scanning the title for a nanosecond before your eyes saccade to the next title immediately below.

    • -6

agree as OzB is becoming just an amplifier for the fast food industry's advertising

      • But this is an actual deal. I think if you order a 20 pack and 6 pack (closest you can get to 24), it will already cost over $20.

    • @cazalla

Under the McDonald's listing you will see a hide button, click on that and then 'Hide deals from store McDonald's'

You can do the same for any any other store. Just open any deal from that store and following the same process.

You can also go to my account > settings > edit > deals to hide certain categories or manage your banned users/stores etc.

  • +3

No love for the other states? :(

    • Only vic and tas :(

    • +4

Tasmania always gets left out… We'll give them this one this time around lol ;)

  • +7

    The KFC ones taste better

    • But maccas one are .. Well.. Same shit.
But as long as they are cheap, I ain't complaining ;)

  • Think this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/206057 is still valid in NSW til 7th Sept

I got it last night at Carlingford.

  • Damn, if only they also had this in NSW… McNuggets FTW.

When I was in America in 2013, 20 McNuggets for ~6 USD was normal :)

    • That's why they so fat !!

  • +12

Ok don't shoot me but I think maccas nuggets have nicer texture and taste. Everytime I eat kfc nuggets it tastes like it's been in the microwave

    • Defs agree lol, i've even had soggy kfc nuggets that were sliced in half :S

  • These are great for those drunk nights out.

  • +1

KFC Nuggets taste better. Since they're both fast food, I don't care about calorie intake.

  • +1

If they're good enough for Usain Bolt…

    • +5

      that's an interesting segway…

      • +4

You knocked me over with that one!

  • +1

I prefer maccas nuggets over KFC :)

  • +2

How many sauces come free with these nuggets?

If fresh, i rekn KFC nicer.
But for standard operating quality, mcDs pulls nicer once out of their warmer.
KFCs mix old and new, cold and hot ones.
    Not very nice at times.

If you can wait for fresh, KFC nuggets with spicy sauce (they are more thrifty with sauces)

2x larger whopper stunner then kfc nuggets. Feeds 2 generously with dessert for $21ish

    • +3

If mcnuggets arent fresh they taste like carboard. But i still eat them -_-

  • +6

Maccas sweet n sour > kfc sweet n sour

  • +3

And a diet coke with that please :p

  • +5

My store starts this promotion next week.

This week alone 1400 nuggets went "missing" at my store. Which means they are not accounted for in waste and not sold. This adds up to about $260. So each nugget is approx worth 7c.

Considering a "bag" of nuggets holds 26, and one bag takes up half a vat. My store has 6 vats in total for kitchen. If 12 people order this deal at the same time, all vats will be full and no other chicken can be cooked.

    I still prefer KFC nuggets.

    • $260/1400 = 18.5c but it still shows the crazy mark up that we have on Nuggets in Australia!

      • What a naive thing to say. You know those nuggets don't come out of thin air, right?

        • -1

You're right, they're chemically stripped from chicken carcasses that would normally go to waste…

        • @woolfenstein: Yep. And that's not a free process either.

    • +1

      This needs an inquest!

If there are about 26 in a bag, and presumably about 6 bags per box, that means about 8 boxes went missing. That's not a little problem!

Do you suspect employee theft, or something else to describe this loss?

      • +1

We get around 30/40 bags to a box.

A lot of people I know will eat a nugget or two on shift. Sometimes it's just putting an extra nugget in the box.

        • if some dude behind the counter at KFC winks and says 'pssttt… I put an extra nugget in the box for ya'
I wouldnt know whether to smile back or scream. Or I'd reply back saying 'cant I just have spit in my burger' ?

        • @nuno: I think that's a given, but you might get an extra nugget as well

    • +1

Interesting comments, thank you. I just wondered if they used chicken breast when it only cost 7 cents?

      • No. Chemically stripped/softened and ground down chicken carcasses. This is what nuggets are made of.
