100 Pack of 16x TDK Gold DVD+R Discs for $20 @ Kmart

690

Essentially, this is the spindle of DVD+Rs in question: http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Dat…

and they're (most probably) currently on clearance at your local Kmart if they're still in stock. I can confirm they were on clearance at the Kmart at Robina Town Centre on the Gold Coast (1 pack left) and also here in Townsville (was 1 pack left, now none).

The marked price was $33 at both stores but if you take it to a price scanner, it came up as $20 (as highlighted on my receipt).

This is a very much 'try-and-see' deal as the discs in question are on clearance. Good luck.

Update: Just cracked open the pack to check what sort of media it is (for those concerned regarding quality/manufacturer/etc) from DVD Identifier:

Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD+R:CMC MAG-M01-000]
Disc & Book Type : [DVD+R] - [DVD+R]
Manufacturer Name : [CMC Magnetics Corp.]
Manufacturer ID : [CMC MAG]
Media Type ID : [M01]
Product Revision : [Not Specified]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,295,104 Sectors = 4.70 GB (4.38 GiB)]
Recording Speeds : [1x-2.4x , 4x , 6x-8x , 6x-16x]

From what I've just read, not the best, but for the money, it's seemingly not bad.

  • Thanks for posting a great deal!

Those squash balls are worthy of their own post :P

    • I'll create a post in the morning — I think they're more store-specific though but 3 squash balls for a dollar isn't bad all the same.

What about this "Swirl White" thing?….. bargain also? :)

        • Those are clearance white/red wine glasses. They're definitely just this store — got lucky and found them in the soiled and returned section. Not a bad deal for 2 ex-display white wine glasses for $1.01 and then 4 red wine glasses for $2.01.

Can always try hunting around your local kmart :)

  • Nice deal.
Squash balls, 2 Bargains in 1 post - LOL.

+1 for deal and great write up with the tech specs!!

Unfortunately I'm still going through the 50 pack i bought for $25!!!! :(

  • Big thanks for the tech specs.

  • And proving that you DON'T need a scanner to show a receipt. I wish more people would be more forthcoming with receipts when asked so we can all share in the savings.

    Thanks for the post.

Just a note to be careful with DVD+R's as some +R's dont work in some DVD players…

    Just a heads up… :)

    • +1

It can go the other way too — I've seen some DVD players/recorders that will only accept DVD+R's. Granted they were probably the cheapest of the cheap, but still.

  • Great deal

  • Officeworks has the same for $17. Just bought, a few days ago

    • Got any more details? They've got it as $54.95 on their website (see above).

    • Ooooop, sorry, my bad. The one I bought from Officeworks was $17 for a spindle of 50.

      Apologies for the confusion

+ve for the price and if I could another +ve for taking the time to look up and post the specs. Well done.

    • agreed

  • If you don't find any left at Kmart, I saw 50 count stacks of DVD-Rs at Harvey Norman for $9.95. Just saw them today. Some unknown brand I assume also CMC made. If you get them could you report on the media type?

I've still heaps from the last 20c DVD deal so won't need any for a while.

yea they are cmc, i tried to post it but it failed

  • Kmart in Chatswood Chase has 1 left this afternoon.

There is a clearance tag that says $40 for DVD-R 100.

    DVD-R 100 scanned for $33
    DVD+R 100 scanned for $20

Officeworks have Sony 16X DVD-R Spindle Inkjet Pk/100 for $14.23.
    http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/b2c/display/(layout=5.1-5_1_67_132_70_114_5_8_133_115&uiarea=3&carea=46EFBF43694C00F302000000AC193D36&citem=46EFBF43694C00F302000000AC193D3647B69065E3184103E1008000AC193D35)/.do?rf=y
I can pick them up from my local Officeworks for a $4.95 fee (this is new to their website) making the total $19.18 per pack.

That link didn't work for me, but try this one:

      http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Dat…

That's really cheap, 14.23c if you can find it for that price on the shelf. Unfortunately when I chose the Pickup option, it still wanted to charge me a $4.95 handling fee. :(

None left, unfortunately. Went through the checkout process only to get:

"Sorry - we were unable to continue, please check the following messages:
      * Product SO100DMR47 cannot be back ordered"

They're nice media, so that'd be a great bargain if anyone did get one at the price.

      • Getting the same error. I suppose that it means the product isn't available at the pick-up store?

        • Probably not. Although, my experience last week with Officeworks had their own staff speaking poorly of their own stock system with quantities/locations and the like, so these might still be around somewhere.

I'm off to Officeworks tomorrow for a router so I might see if they've got stock floating around..you never know.

This is a very good deal, but not as good as the 10pks of Shintaro DVD+R's i bought from Harris Tech for $2. Same price, yes, but these ones came with individual full sized jewel cases. So i've got enough for now.

Regarding DVD+R not working with some DVD players, is that even after you've created a finalised DVD video onto them? Aren't they just DVD video then? I thought the only restrictions was for burning them on computer or DVD recorder, no actually playback of authored DVD…?

I found that Officeworks has a Sony spindle of 100 for $14.23:

  • Sorry but these discs are really bad.
I picked up a 50 pack of TDK Gold's a while back and 1/2 of them failed during the burning process.
I used 8x burning speed and ImgBurn (the best burner) yet they still failed.
