yeah without the $50 ebay coupon it is a bit meh isnt it

whats with sandisk? are they dumping ssd stock

      • Must be new models about to be released.
        Still this is really cheap.

      • -1

No, it's just a natural slow decline in price as newer and larger drives enter the market. Happens with any piece of technology, but when it comes to SSD drives people carry on like pork chops over a couple dollar price reduction.

        • OK but there seems to have been a flood of SanDisk deals over the past weeks as if stock is being dumped left right and centre. Best to buy up now as the stock market is pooped itself as we speak and the AU$ will most likely go down the dunny.

      • Im pretty sure these are old stock.

Oh hang on, this price is after the 20%. I see.
Well Futu were selling this exact model for $106 a few weeks back so based on that it should be $84.80

    • Does it happen with other participating sellers too? ie: jack up the prices when a discount promotion is on? I haven't kept notice with the price history with others but FUTU Online does seem to do that regularly. (The 4TB WD Red drives were for $255 until y'day on their ebay site but now $275)

Does ebay force the participating sellers to stomach the discount or ebay itself foot the bill?

There is no justification for the price increase IMO.

Yeah JB Hifi and DSE do it all the time. It is an ACCC matter, so nothing will happen.

Not unless we can obtain some media exposure.

These ebay specials and the price changes are definitely a breach of the Australian Consumer Law. Evidence would need to be collected across multiple sellers.

  • Use the $50 coupon from the previous deal to go with this one?

    • lol, give a medal to this guy

i already spent my $50 and i have a pile of sandisk ssds for the zombie apocalypse

      • Don't forget about Eneloop's and mSD cards, lol
With our stock pile, we can run a bunch of PC's and watch movies/media that's on our mSD cards for months ;)

no, can't combine $50 coupon and this code (according to posts in other CVIPTREAT deals)

I got one of these a few weeks ago for a friends laptop, works fine and seems pretty fast. But they aren't really suited to battery powered devices due to not lowering the power usage when idle, mate only runs his lappy on ac so it doesn't matter.

bought one couple weeks ago for $106 plus $50 ebay voucher so this is not a good price. They jacked up for this special and then give you 20% off.

    • Best current price for oz stock. Shh.

    • Plus a whole $2 discount after he dollar dropped!

At least $2.20 in savings lol :P

      Yes best price ATM

  • Was going to grab the 500gb until they jacked up the price for the ebay sale.

  • This I believe is about 3/4 years old. The EVO 850 is this years technology.
Still it's going to be way better than your HDD.

    • 850 Evo is ~$40 more expensive and most wouldn't notice the difference, I bought a "plus" a few weeks ago for $109.

The more important issue is the idle power usage makes this particular SSD unsuitable for laptops.

      • OK. Did it come with software to copy the hard drive?

        • No, but personally I haven't used any included backup software from the hundred or so drives I've bought over the years, mostly used 3rd party if imaging was needed.

Also the Samsungs are a bit of a PITA when you want to secure erase, as you need to physically remove the power cable only for a few seconds, all that being said I still have an 850 pro in my gaming desktop.

        • I find it annoying that drives these days come with crap installed. First thing I do everytime is format and make the clusters bigger.

        • @CH: OK. I was planning on taking it to a shop for them to install, I was thinking an hour tops. $50/$60.
Ebay the part then find cheap labor..

  • First experience with these guys hasn't been a great one. Ordered a 120gb sandisk plus and a 16gb samsung microsd. Both posted with same tracking number. Bag arrives today, SSD is there but no microsd.

Needed both to get my server up and running as have to put boot files on the microsd.

Sent a message so hopefully they rectify this asap. Will keep updated as it progresses.

    • Turns out both were sent separately packaged but at the same time.
      MicroSD arrived a day later.

They replied to an email to let me know they had sent individually as well.
