Professional chefs might be highly-strung types, prone to passionate arguments – but when it comes to Global knives, chefs everywhere can agree that these knives are the best around.

Global knives are renowned for their superior quality, their sharper-than-sharp cutting edges, perfect weighting, and their instantly recognisable design. Global draws its manufacturing inspiration from ancient Japanese swordsmiths, who perfected the art of sword-making to produce strong, sharp blades for the samurai, while also taking ingenuity from German and Italian fields of technology and design.

In short, if you invest in a Global knife, you’ll carry it with you, from one kitchen to another, for a lifetime.

Today, following both their nation’s time-honoured traditions and innovative nature, Global continue to produce knives of the finest quality. And, just like the swords of the samurai past, each Global knife lends distinction to the chef who uses it – amateur or professional.

Ikasu Seven Piece Chef’s Knife Set features:
Made in Japan from the finest quality stainless steel.
Lightweight and comfortable to hold.
Ice-tempered and hardened, the blade holds a razor-sharp edge longer than any other steel and resists rust, stains and corrosion.
Each knife is carefully weighted to ensure perfect balance in the hand and maximum cutting efficiency.
Seamless construction is hygienic, eliminating risk of food or dirt becoming trapped anywhere on the knife.

Care & Cleaning:
Periodic sharpening is recommended to maintain the ultra-sharp edge of the blade.
Use only with wooden cutting boards.
Hand wash recommended.

8cm Pairing Knife.
11cm Utility Knife.
13cm Cook’s Knife.

Bought these during the last offer. Absolutely the best set of knives I have ever used. They are really easy to handle and sharp. Have tried many other brands before and these are the best hands down (for the price).

    • +3

Could you please list the brands you have tried?
Just for the record of what to avoid :P

  • Received the email that says "Be one of the first to shop with this exclusive 24 hour early access code." for my account so looks like some people get the chance to purchase a little early. Thanks OP!

I think it's a good price for what are above average knives - HOWEVER, "…chefs everywhere can agree these are the best knives around." ..?

Whilst that lovely word 'best' is very subjective & thus open to massive personal interpretation - these very good knives are just that but not world beaters.

Also if my somewhat limited experience is anything to go by you'll very rarely find cooking industry professionals using Globals. Generally they'll either use much cheaper but still very good Victorinox or have something considerably more expensive than the Globals.

It's also worth being aware that these have a harder blade than most Wusthof, Victorinox etc which can be a good thing BUT if you're not respectful of your knives they are much more prone to chipping than the softer German steel - just something to be aware of as I've seen a LOT of folks stuff these up through bad cutting habits etc.

Haha and before you neg me to oblivion as I've said this is a GOOD DEAL on GOOD knives but lets not go overboard on what they actually are. :-)

      +1 for Victorinox.
If you are looking for value performers, Victorinox are unbelievably good for their price.
Also have a Global G2 (20cm chefs) on me now but haven't had a chance to use it yet.

Why do ozbargainers spend so much on knife I'm curious? I meant I still use the knife from asian grocery store like $20 bucks (like those used in chinese restaurant's kitchen). Still going strong after 8 years, just gotta sharpen it every now and then..Pretty much use it to cut and chop anything..

Worse thing is these branded knife listed can't even chop stuff..Or is it more look than anything ?

    • you are like asking why do people spend so much on luxurious cars and luxurious items, answer is: because we can and we want the best quality?
my fiance has a set at home I vouch for their quality and ease of use. it's lightweight and quality is definitely worth it.
you get what you pay for.

      • I do chop my rip fairly often, what you guys for that then? These fancy knife don't do that though ..

        • +7

What the hell did you just say?

        • @legiong: LOL I mean chop the RIBS lol

        • +1

@Droid11: Knives are for slicing, cutting, paring etc. Cleavers are for chopping.

        • @ltwo: Is that what you call a cleaver? I use it to cut pretty much everything to be honest lol….I must have a nice knife skills eh ;P

        • @ltwo:
With the greatest of respect thats generally true in regards to traditional Western cutting implements however Asian cleavers are significantly more diverse and it's exceedingly common to have a 'cleaver' type implement that will be designed for exclusively for cutting, slicing - exactly as a Western style knife is.

I have several myself as their popularity within the Western consumer market has dramatically increased over the past decade or so.

So much so a very common mistake made with them is to assume they are a Western 'chopping' cleaver - and thus get used on bones, frozen items etc - which is disasterous for them as their blade profile and primary cutting bevel is completely different and this damages this.

FWIW I find something between both world's the best fit and tend to use my Nakiri more coften than any other knife. :-)

  • can someone tell me how does the cashrewards work?

    • +3

Register at cashrewards.com. Then go through their link to a merchant site before you add items to your cart.
Then cashrewards.com give your account credit in your account based on the percentage of the cashrewards and the total amount you paid for.

You can then bank transfer that amount into your checking/savings account.

      • Hi Gunny, how long does it take for the rewards to be credited back into our account? ive made the purchase just now but im refreshing my cashrewards account, still $0 balalnce

        • Takes a few hours or couple of days for the transactionto appear in your account. Then a few days/months until it actually credited to your account (so you can withdraw into your bank account). Min withdrawal value is $5. Hope that helps

        • @Micoa: Thanks Micoa. Just an update for everyone. i did get an email from cashrewards a day after my purchase in case of anyone wondering.

          Thank you

thanks, I've updated the post and mentioned Melbourne/Brisbane and Perth shipping fees

Good price and the knives aren't too bad. I bought these at full price and my only gripes are that the handles are a bit small and they rust very easily (dry them immediately).

  • are they really way better than the ones sold in, say kmart, bigw?(its a genuine question)

    • Hard to give a general answer but yes.

Is kinda like saying is a Mercedes a better car than a Kia or is a DeWalt drill better than an Ozito. For some folks they won't be BUT the quality is considerably superior though the ACTUAL end benefit depends on the user knowing how to get the BEST from this - as misuse will still result in poor results but at a more expensive end cost. :-)

  • bought 1, bargain

  • Is the redemption code still working for others? CVIPTREAT doesnt seem to work for me.

  • Hey is the CVIPTREAT not working for anyone else?

  • Try CTREAT20 instead

  • can't be delivered?

The ebay item has changed to pick up only and I don't have any local stores. Might call them to see what the go is.

    • Yeah, quantity available seems to be 0.

      • Called the store, they chased it up for me. Seems to be working fine now and I have bought my set.

        • Excellent, thanks! got it here too.

        • Working now, thanks. Bought a set.

  • Awesome, bought a set. Thanks OP.

  • Anyone able to use their $50 voucher from the click and collect promotion?

    • Think you can only use one voucher code per transaction, you won't be able to combine both :(

  • Im tossing up between getting this block or just a single chef knife which i think will have more use in the kitchen and half the price. Can anyone honestly say they've used all the knives in this block to make it a worthwhile purchase?

    • I bought the 30 year anniversary three knife set on special for around $150 from Victoria's Basement. I use them all every day. I recommend you get the shapener too.

  • Expired - was waiting for my new credit card to arrive, but sold out now :(
