Arctic Star Ski Clothing and Accessories. 70% off. Rebel Outlet Store (Auburn, NSW)

60

Went looking for snow clothing for the kids for an upcoming trip to Japan over Christmas. Found some good deals at Rebel Outlet Redyard Auburn, NSW. 70% off Arctic Star branded clothing. 40% off Elude and Rojo. Some examples I picked up were:
- Kids ski jacket $15, normally $50.
- Kids and adult ski pant $15, normally $50.
- Thermal tops and pants. Normally $20 but scanned at $5 instead of $6.

They had lots of stock in many sizes, so it might have been near the beginning of the clearance. Goggles, snow boots, gloves, scarves and beanies were also available.

It mentioned you have to be a loyalty member, but you can join for free at the cash register on th spot or online on your smart phone.

Taking the kids to Japan for a holiday over Christman time? Wish I was part of your family. It's gonna cost you a fair few pennies, but definitely worth it.

Try the Coco Curry. It's delicious!

  • we are too but will probably just hire. i still have ski gear to get rid of that they've grown out of. we r travelling asia for 3 weeks inc thailand so dont want to pack too much. But going to invest in compact foldable down jackets like the north face or macpac. waterproof doens should be good enough fof slopes too.

  • If you're going skiing/boarding in Japan… I wouldn't use this gear. It might be okay for Australia, but this won't cut muster in -12 with windchill bringing it do -20. Do yourself a favour and spend slightly more and get better gear, or rent better gear. You want to have fun, and to have fun, you need to be warm and dry. Neither warmth or dryness will be provided by these products.

    • Fortunately snow gear actually comes with a rating system. Each article of outer will have a water resistance and breathability rating. Things that are 5k/5k are cheap and probably only good for bluebird days. 10k/10k stuff will be good enough for most people in most conditions. 15k/15k stuff is generally getting into the expensive ranges of things. There are higher ratings, but I haven't seen them much outside of serious snow trekking gear.

The average temps for Niseko in January are about -6. For comparison, the average temps for Falls Creek in August are just below 0.

      • I doubt if the Rebel Sport gear even has a rating listed. I would never recommend this gear to anyone wanting to stay warm and dry whilst boarding or skiing.

        • Some random checks on the Rebel website show that it is rated. They seem to range from 5/5 to 10/10 depending on the article of clothing. Better to be informed about the rating system than just ignore the brand altogether.

        • @macrocephalic: Absolutely. But the ratings is for the fabric itself and says nothing of the quality and wind/waterproofness of the zips, seams etc, the build of the item, the R+D put into its design ergonomics for skiers/boarders etc…

My point is, cheap jackets are cheap. If that suits you, go for it! If your even half serious about having a good time whilst staying dry and warm, spend slightly more with a company who know what they're doing.

    • I've worn my arctic star rebel jacket and aldi pants in Australia, Japan (hakuba) and Canada (around BC) with no problems. I just wear good quality merino thermals (smartwool and icebreaker). I think mine are 10/10. Note that overseas getting 'wet' in the snow isn't such a big issue as it's too cold to rain, but the temps and wind chill are much worse. I feel the cold terribly (my snowboard boots are heated) but was plenty warm enough in these shells.

      • I too have used Aldi gear in BC, and just last week was using it in snow and 60km gusts in Falls Creek.
