Hi Everyone,

We are pleased to announce that we are opening up a new store in Carlingford this Saturday.

In order to truly open this store and start we have decided to do an opening special of $5.00 available to everyone and is applicable to all of our combos for our first week (no limits, no exclusions and no sneaky price increase just $5.00)!

We are also interested in running a social experiment to truly find out if the community is truly filled with bargain hunters, so mention the coupon code ozbargain to our cashier and the price will change to $4.97 as an added bonus feel free to pay by cash and it will round down to $4.95.

Unfortunately the only limitation we have is this will only be applicable for the first week (ends after the shopping centre closes on Friday) and just available at Carlingford, NSW.

          Hi Nubzy,

          We use catfish for combo 1. All fish are obtained from local suppliers.

          You can get half salad and half chips just ask the people at the counter and they can organise it for you.

          You are right, we do half chips and half salad in Merrylands. What we have noticed is that a lot of customers are asking for just salad or just chips so to support that further we have designed the combos to showcase the chips or salad. However if you wish to have half chips and half salad please ask and the staff should accomodate that for you.

    I am pretty sure there are shopper docket deals for this franchise, Fish n Chix. 2 for $10 eg. Fish n chips. Seen but never used/tried. Growing up near the beach fish and chip shops aren't too appealing any more. Not the same. So this is the normal deal.

    I've tried the combos many times at the Merrylands shop and it was great. I definitely recommend it for the combo. The shopper docker discount doesn't apply to combo menus.

      Monday 9:00am to 5:30pm
      Tuesday 9:00am to 5:30pm
      Wednesday 9:00am to 5:30pm
      Thursday 9:00am to 9:00pm
      Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm
      Saturday 9:00am to 4:00pm
      Sunday 10:00am to 4:00pm

      However with woolworths around the corner if there is a need to stay open to service more customers it will be up to the manager's discretion.

    Fish N Chix at Eastgardens always have 2 for 1 combo deals on shop a dockets.

    The fish is great, but the packs are not as large as you'd get from a local corner fish N chips shop.

    0.2% discount using OzB exclusive code demeans the community, consider the quality of TA's lewd and lascivious exclusive codes. While the $5 deal may be reasonable I think our good members should refrain from any mention of OzB until a better offer arises.

      I think the main deal was it being $5 which is more than a reasonable bargain to post and that the "0.2%" is just something for them to measure how many ozbargainers come/a joke lol.

        I agree that the primary bargain is quite reasonable. Now I enjoy some ballyhoo as much as the next chap but for a first time post from a rep of a public deal they should try harder for special OzB goodwill, not to mention marketing data/feedback.

          Thanks for your feedback and I can appreciate that the discount isn't substantial unfortunately at $5 we are basically at the limit of what we can do, as mentioned by Clinton the code was more for fun and for those who really wanted to pursue the extra bit of saving (the real bargain hunters) whilst also allowing us to review the data of Ozbargain.

      There is no minimum and I believe we do take most credit cards (I assume that the terminal also accepts paywave as it is new).

          At this point in time we do utilise the masterfood squeeze packets. I know that may not be what you are after, but what I can say is that we will definitely look into the viability of having a home made tartare sauce so we can provide a better experience for our customers.

    I have to admit that Fish & Chix was actually pretty decent the one time I went to at Merrlands mid last year. I'd rate this deal. Thanks rep although Carlingford is a bit of a stretch.

    WOW!!! really nice food. Fresh and quite generous. Great service too. Would definately eat there even at normal price. The no minimun was silly imo - Waited 1hr and 16mins for my order. You'd have ppl ordering 10 combos for take away.

    Lady at the counter had no idea what ozbargain was. Would have chased up except they were drowning as it was.

      Sorry to hear that it took you so long to receive your food unfortunately we had some issues that came up which really slowed us down (which is no excuse). We really didn't expect people to order 10 at a time so we will look into capping the amount so that the staff can try to get to you quickly (maybe 6 - enough for a larger family).

      Lastly I would like to apologise for the staff member that did not accept the ozbargain code, we had advised them of the code but it looks like we will have to reiterate that too them.

      I appreciate you taking the time to give your feedback and we will definitely be looking to implement solutions so that customers can have a more enjoyable experience.

      I think one person per combo should apply for this kind of promotion,not someone grabs 10 combos.If someone wants to grab one more,he has to queue again.

    Just try it, long queue, food good, good size, good customer service, lucky I go early arround 11:30 take a bit of wait, 3 combo take home then go to work, menu as they post only 8 set, good enough for start and try here, no other fish and chip shop in this centre for long time … Keep your good work :)

    Just went and checked. There was no need to say ozbargain cause there was huge poster at the front that all combos was $5. Though when I was about to order, they said I had to wait 40 mins =( because of 'catching up to orders'.

    Went yesterday afternoon. Poor guys were flat out, took about an hour to get my order for 5, but everyone at home was happy.

    In fact, I'd gladly pay $7.95 for the Chicken Burger Combo after the promotional period (was very good!!)

    When you run a promotion like this and you are not prepared for the onslaught the quality of your food suffers. Given what I have bought I do not know if I would want to try your product again. Also most people have a pretty poor standard for their food.

    Went today around lunchtime with parents to try it out (only about a 25 minute wait). Guy at the counter didn't know about the OzBargain code but gave the discount anyway.

    I got the Salt and Pepper Squid w/ Chips and was kinda disappointed with the amount of Squid pieces that were there. Only 5 small pieces were in mine leaving me still hungry, although they did taste quite nice. Wouldn't pay $10.95 for it though.
