870

iPhone6+ (128gb) $1272 + $35 = $1307*

*Minimum total cost over 1 month is $875 ($15 Mobile Voice Plan x 1 month + $840 iPhone 6 Space Grey 64GB outright purchase + $20 once off SIM fee). This does not include the cost of any non-included plan usage.

These prices still make me sweat, that's a lot of coin for a phone.

    • +7

      Yep, I agree.

I remember when the iPhone3G came out. I got the phone and $30 worth of credit for $30 per month over 24 months from Optus.

  • +4

I wonder what the prices will be in a few weeks when Apple announce the new iphone ?

    • Probably will stay the same tbh, since the new iphone will be a few hundred more than these prices.

      • I doubt it…

Apple will drop their prices on the old model so other stores will need to drop further to make sales…

        • +5

Apple is still selling the iPhone 5S for $829. Don't count on prices for the iPhone 6 dropping when the next model comes out

        • remember newtons apple theory…

        • +1

they will not drop their price until the new one is on the market

        • +7

          @imahapyboy:

they will not drop their price until the new one is on the market

Apple wont, but other retailers will, after it's announced and sales of the old model decline…

        • +5

@jv: JV is usually full of sh.. but in this instance he is correct. Not sure why he is getting down voted.

        • @sprucemoose:

Because he seems to know exactly what apple is going to do before anyone else does.

        • +2

@XeKToReX: Though be fair, wasn't that always the case? I thought Apple reduces the price on their older model when the new model comes out on their store. 5S might've not had drastic change due to the fact that we had a price adjustment to reflect the AUD USD exchange rate.

        • +1

          @AznMitch:

They might decide not to sell the 6 and 6+ anymore. 6s, 6s+ and 5

        • @aldoduco: Hmmm, that's definitely a possibility. I've also heard about the rumuors about the possible 4 inch model (iPhone "6c") as well (There were conflicting rumours on whether it will be released or not). If the 4 inch model gets released and takes on the role of the "c" model, they might phase out the 6 series.

Dunno, though, at least, they might get cheaper from retailers when 6s and 6s+ model comes out (because they become "outdated" ).

        • @jv: If I remember right, Apple dropped the iPhone5S 32GB (launch=$999) price when they released iphone6, but they increased when the A$ dropped its pant..currently it is $899 at the store. Reluctantly, I have to agree with [@jv] here!

        • @AznMitch: All my female friends tell me they won't even get close to that 4 inch model!

        • @skinny: Don't worry, it's got the vibration to make it everything just better (Of course, I am talking about the rumoured Force Touch).

I'd like to point out that Force Touch is rumoured to be only on the plus model (well, I've seen conflicting rumours as well on this), but that ruins the innuendo.

    • +1

This happens every year so why do you wonder?

      • its just a warning to remind people of the upcoming Sep event!

      • +1

A growing % of the population don't wonder. Literally. They don't wonder. They will need to told (by Apple, preferably, but any Billion $ corporation will do) that the price will drop. Even if it has happened a thousand times in the past, they see no correlation. Welcome to the masses. lol

Minimum total cost over 1 month is $875 ($15 Mobile Voice Plan x 1 month + $840 iPhone 6 Gold 64GB outright purchase + $20 once off SIM fee). This does not include the cost of any non-included plan usage.

    • Cancel the plan right away and it will be pro-rated. But yeah, a little more than the asking price.

  • Is the phone locked to iinet? How much to unlock?

    • +1

I was under the impression that no iPhone 6/6+ are locked.

      • They still can be. If they're on a plan.

    • +1

all iphone for australian stock are unlocked, if it is locked. there are no unlocking fee anymore.

    • Internode dont lock any of their phones so I assume iinet is the same.

  • +3

They are charging $288 more for the larger screen phone. Seems like the discount is mainly on the 4.7in version.
It's really only a few weeks until the new ones (Late September), you'd be daft to buy one of these now

  • +3

Yes, but $875 for the phone, (and 10% off with TRS) means my wife gets a brand new, unlocked 64GB iPhone for less than $800.

RRP from Apple is $1,149. So I'm satisfied with the approx 30% discount for the brand new, but (almost) superseded model - it's a great upgrade from her 16GB iPhone 4S.

    • +1

I was thinking the same thing but not sure how can you claim gst for the phone from an invoice stating service fee, sim fee etc.

      • +1

Yeah, I suspect the TRS claim will be $840 for the phone and $20 for the SIM - $860 / 11 = $78.18 back…but if it's just the handset, then the GST refund should be $840 / 11 = $76.36, so in the grand scheme of things…

        • +3

If they can be bothered to calculate that.

Or they may just say this is a phone plan and you'll obviously bring this phone back so it's got nothing to do with the tourist scheme???

      • ask apple store to match the price

        • They have a max 10% discount policy

  • Can I buy it outright without using the service?

    • yes you may…

      • their term says phones only available if you have a plan with them. so OP included minimum 1 month plan in the deal value.

      • Please explain how, I couldn't see that. I could see the option to pay upfront for the phone or a monthly phone payment but not a way to buy phone without service (at that price).

  • +3

I suspect all those who brought the 16gb i6+ for $900 are kicking themselves.

    • Maybe.
I bought a 5S from Harvey Norman special around two years back now I think.
My first smart phone and around the $850 back then for a relatively new 16g model.
Still loads of room left on mine despite heaps of books and music albums.
Surprised to see how high the 16g 5S price still is.
Much as I'd like a 6+, I'm in no rush to open my wallet that wide

    • Who are they?

    • all those who brought the 16gb i6+ for $900

Where did they bring it from?

  • Should you also include the price of the 1 month of $15 for the plan?

    • Minimum cost is Phone + $20 SIM + $15 for the first month…they have $30 & $45 plans if you're actually going to go with them for calls too…

      • So I can pay for this first month and then cancel without penalty?

  • Minimum total cost over 1 month is $875 ($15 Mobile Voice Plan x 1 month + $840 iPhone 6 Space Grey 64GB outright purchase + $20 once off SIM fee). This does not include the cost of any non-included plan usage.

I am sure apple is about announce a slightly better slightly more expensive iphone 6S while companies like samsung and lg widen the technology gap the samsung S6 is already better than the iphone 7 will be…

    • How so..

    • +1

I think he lives in diff world.. Dont mind him. Its either he cant afford it or he just dont know how to use ios device…. Move along….

      • I handle both phones daily as part of my job i like both a lot, i trialed the iphone 6 as a work phone for a while and loved it. But the samsung screen is more vivid double the pixel density and the 16Mp ois camera on the s6 definitely a generation ahead also having 3 times the ram the s6 is smoother. Both phones are works of art but all fanboyism aside the s6 is definatly a generation or two ahead.

        • +1

Specs mean nothing especially with the amount of ram. Ppl who have no idea get exited about high numbers. The fact is the s6 and android devices a like need more ram for the os and apps which utilize high amounts of ram and run inefficiently alike. This is cos the vendor who makes the phone don't develope the OS. Apple on the other hand develop the device and the OS together. Their os runs more efficiently and u don't need 3x the ram taxing ur battery life. iPhone 6 camera with less "specs" trumps s6. This is well documented by the comparison I've seen.

        • @Gavman: I'd actually say the reason why Android devices tend to require more RAM is due to how "generous" they are with the background processes. You limit multitasking ability and that reduces demand on RAM, battery etc etc. If you ask me, Google should limit the background processes more than now, since it does make the OS heavily resource dependent in my opinion, but it has pros and cons.

Let's just say this, if Apple introduced 2GB RAM on iPhone, you'd not be saying that OS doesn't require 2GB RAM. It's well optimised, therefore we don't need improvement on hardware is like a cheap way out. If the OS is that good, better hardware would be even better on it.

        • @Gavman:
Tell that to safari my ipad air refreshing the page every time I switch tabs

        • @Gavman:

          I like it!

        • i agree. I think that will be their approach with the new iPhone. I just don't get when ppl quantify or justify the comparison of one device over another because this one has more ram then that one. It's naive

        • @magnafunk:

Chrome on my iPad does the same. What's the go with that?

        • @GaelicAU: not enough ram

  • So can i get the silver one at this price or is it restricted to the space grey?

And do i cancel the plan after using it for 1 month and don't need to pay any cancellation fees?

  • +1

Placed order this afternoon over the phone. managed get $20 credit for sim fee. no delivery charge, or cc fees. will claim GST at TRS. must say good bargain if anyone wants iphone now.

    • Did you have to sign up for the plan?

      • +1

just pay $15 for first month, then cancel, no cancellation charge. no network lock.
they do credit check even for outright purchase!

        hope this helps.

time to search bargain for accessories. -;)

  • Darn ! I feel foolish now for having bought the 64 Gb Kogan iphone from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/203687

      Sent from my iPhone

  • Anyone tried price match at another store like OW?

    • I'll be interested to know if they price match a plan

  • Have anyone tried to price match these iinet prices at Harvey Norman, GoodGuys, etc?

    • I would love to know too !

  • +1

It's not a plan, if u go to the website, it says $840 out right.

  • cheers OP :)

  • Possible office-works price match??

    • did anyone actually try?

  • +14

I thought I'd give it a try!! Went for the iphone 6 64gb Gold by the way.

Here's a copy of the Receipt, $798 price match from officeworks..

    http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/112981/32541/officework…

Thanks OP, thats a bargain (",)

    • has anybody tried this??? coz this sounds way to good to be real… right??

    • +1

      Good stuff

      • +2

        Cheers, can't complain right.. cheaper than officeworks iPhone 5s 32GB @ $879..

    • well done. good bargain. i should have gone to OW prior ordering from iinet.

    • +3

Thanks Robzta. I tried Alexandria OW and failed. Saw your receipt and tried OW on Pitt St and succeeded. I'm also getting my GST back through TRS so it def a bargain.

      • Congrats! I guess it depends whom you get at end of the day, some guys just don't care and process it..

  • People still buy iphones? lol

    • You have to look at how millions they've sold.

  • It seems as if the 128gb iPhone 6 is not available in store at office works? Will they still price match?

Also it looks like there are some issues with the 128gb version such as being stuck on a boot loop?So it is worth buying now?

    • Just got off the phone to OfficeWorks Online and the sales person said they just got an email saying they were not allowed to match iiNet because their "phones were locked to iiNet" or "they come with iiNet software on them" both of which I believe are wrong :-( Do they have an obligation to match?

      • or … or … or …

        • Or they cannot price match a deal that includes a plan, even one month.

That's what the next salesperson suggested when I rang back.

        • @mrhatken:

Got the same response - no go with the plan even with the the $15 first month and $20 SIM fee included, so trying to match $1163 total for 6+ 64GB.

You could try UniqueMobiles as a price match - same price as iiNet (for 6+ 64GB at least: $1163 delivered).
          http://www.uniquemobiles.com.au/apple-iphone-6-plus-64gb-spa…

      • +1

Just walk into a store and show them the deal on your phone. They aren't going to scrutinise it as much as the on-line contact centre and are less likely to fob you off with dubious reasons. I put robzta's receipt on my phone in case I needed it for persuasion. Turned out I didn't need it.

        • I went to Officeworks Dandenong VIC and they used the 'iiNet software' excuse. Didnt want to look at the receipt.

        • @wau2:

I'd try again, you either got someone that takes their job way to serious or you need to tailor your approach. Don't walk in with the mindset that you aren't going to be successfully walking out with an iphone ;)… It also could be possible that too many people have called the on-line store and they've probably sent out an internal memo ala "ATT: iphone price match and iinet".

        • @wau2:

I bought one and there is no iiNet software. In fact, even if they wanted to, I doubt Apple would allow it.

      • I can confirm there is no lock and no iiNet software.

  • Anyone else had any success in price match?

    • +2

Just signed up to OzBargain to thank the OP and confirm I also got Officeworks to price match in store about 30 minutes ago!

$798 64gig silver. I would post my receipt up like @robzta but I don't know how.

      • which officeworks?

      • +2

        Thanks fella.

Looks like a lot of people are jumping in on this deal.

  • iiNet declined my outright purchase?!! cannt believe. dont know why.

    • Try at officeworks instore ☺

      • Most officeworks in Perth don't stock iPhones and those that do don't have many.

    • iiNet did my outright purchase.

At worst I think you'll have to pay for the sim and one month.
