  • Thanks!

They appear to be ~$200 on staticice for similar models

  • +1

Way more than my new media server needed… Purchased anyway.

    Cheers mate!

  • Didn't need to but good ram for the price. Thanks OP.

  • Hmmm, I've heard things about how you should always grab same pair of the RAM if you want to put two RAMs in… If I have 1 8GB DDR3 RAM already, would I be better off getting 16GB kit or just buying 1 8GB DDR3 RAM?

    • +1

Depends what you have now but they also have the single sticks on sale too for 39.99us http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006YG9C2Q/

      • Thanks. :) I probably will grab single stick.

    • +2

The sticks will be reduced to the speed of the slowest one of the lot, as far as I know, there hasn't been anything worth worrying about using different brands.
If you want 16GB, might as well buy a separate 8GB, it should be cheaper…. but if you want a spare stick or for some reasons want 24GB…. well….. go ahead and buy the pair.

      • Thanks. :I don't think my motherboard has more than 2 slots for RAM so :'( I might just grab 1 8GB RAM.

    • Matched pair is always better.

Gets rid of all headaches and potential bugs. You might get lucky, but at this price is is definitely worth it, if you haven't purchased already.

  • newb question - are these suitable for nucs? or need sodimms?

    • +1

      Won't work in Nucs

    • +1

      Yep, need sodimms

      • +1

I think low voltage ones too. I'd check for specific compatibility on the type you want.

  • +2

Hey Bentan77, will this go great with my $199 netbook?

Trolling? But no you will need Sodimm Ram for Laptops and Netbooks.

    • lol…classic… =)

  • another newb question - is the amazon free shipping only for shipping in US or to Aus as well? thanks!

    • Only for US.

      • they sometimes have coupons + overseas promos

        • Yeah, but what s/he's referring to is probably the "free shipping" on the Amazon pages (i.e. the one for the US customers).
The last one we had was like with AMEX last year, wasn't it?

  • Picked up 32 gb of this for 10 bucks more a few weeks back. Awesome ram.

    • +1

      where

      • amazon 10 bucks more then this would be if you bought 32 gb obviously.

        • So in total, $20 more ???

  • How would the warranty work for this? Any pointers/experience appreciated.
Also - did anyone use ING to pay for this, how much are we looking at? Sorry for the newbee Questions..

    • Question was not that bad - was it?
Well - ordered anyway, will experience it first hand :)
      Thanks for the deal!

      • +1

Warranty with Amazon would be covered on their website.

Most would pay with a 28 degrees card or similar to minimise currency conversion fees. Also Amazon will tell you how much they will charge if you use their conversion to AUD.

How's that? P.s. Enjoy the Ram.

        • +1

          Much better than a neg… :)
          Thanks.

  • I haven't purchased on Amazon via Amex before, is the currency conversion fee going to be really bad?

    • not really bad, but in general, your Amex (or any bank) is probably going to be better.

check your Amex conversion rate, then compare with amazon, for a definitive answer.

    • fyi it came to $121.18 using Amex

Why the sudden slew of Amazon RAM bargains? There have been about 6 in the past month.

Personally, I recommend 16GB of RAM for people that do a lot of multitasking. Browsers that open a separate process for each tab (eg Chrome) chew up enormous amounts of RAM. My VPN client consumes an egregious 300 MB of RAM. People in general don't know how to code optimized programs anymore, just bloatware. Some examples of tight coding are to be found on these freeware site: http://www.nirsoft.net/ The programs don't have glitzy interfaces but are small and work well.

    • I feel like 16GB is the new 8GB (when 4GB was like the majority, 8GB to me, felt like plenty).

  • This looks to now be $79.99 USD

    • The price in title includes shipping and handling ($79.99 + $5.44 = $85.43).

  • Might be sold out? Getting message:
