  Liveship Traders (Hobb) and Demon Cycle (Brett) are good grounded adult epic fantasy too. 3 books for $10 is about a third of the kindle price.

  Some very good books here. Apart from Douglas Adams, there's the Rama series by Arthur C. Clarke, and the Shadow series by Orson Scott Card.
