    • Well, you like everyone else are intitled to your opinion and expectations of what suits YOUR needs and standards. Others may not wish to hear you so unrestrainedly bagging what they're happy to use. So, maybe a bit less spilling of guts all over their prized new possession. Perhaps your making an ocassional positive comment wouldn't go astray either.
BTW, what do you use for a desktop/laptop to get serious work done then? I guess it's not Android is it?

Well you shoudnt have ordered in the first place would have made availble to someone who actually needed one like a mate who just required tje occasional attach detach preso and docs for quick edit on the go with full copy paste and 2 windowa side by side setup.

Windows tablet is different from ARM tablets, in that they take different approach. If you look at how they came to be what they are, ARM tablets came out as almost like an enlarged smartphones, whereas Windows tablets were developed more or less as a PC with different input. If you were expecting an Windows tablet to do things like ARM tablets out there, then I'd say you should've done your research first. Doing something like document editing on an Android tablet, I found, is pretty much like trying to use Windows tablet with only metro apps.

I own both, I use them for different reasons. I do agree that trying to use Windows tablet like an ARM tablet usually ends rather badly, but that logic applies both ways.

I was going to recommend using DuOS if you were that unsatisfied, since I've heard good things about it. No point in recommending that now, I guess.

I've had my Toshiba Windows tablet for nearly a year. Hated it. Put Windows 10 on it and now I love it.

  • Sold my old tablet as i had bought this new tablet, 5 days later i receive a refund and Looks like they are not going to honor the deal. Sucks big time.

got mine delivered 2 hrs ago….cant complain for 112 delivered,,,build quality and screen is good…have inserted 64gb micro sd…but OS still needs some work…not as intuitive as apple iPad

Got mine yesterday - 128GB MicroSD added ($74 courtesy of deal on here!), awaiting delivery of small Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Have updated the BIOS and now installed Windows 10 from the Microsoft site (selecting to delete all personal data/apps) - very impressed with Win 10 and with the device itself. Very good battery life so far and great to have the full power/compatibility of desktop Windows there if you need it, although it looks like the Modern UI apps in the Windows Store are going to start to improve now the installed userbase is going to rocket from Windows 8/8.1 days!

Same here. The win10 seems to be a tablet killer. I don't even touch my MacBook for a few days now. The sweet from this deal is the included MS Office Home/Student, save me from open office.

  • Been having occasional screen flicker on acer iconia w4. Like a quick flash not lasting more than a second. Anybody experience the same? I disabled the auto brightness but did not solve.!

    • W10 update? Driver update? Tried all these yet?

      • Are you on Windows 10? Have you installed the Win 10 Bios 1.16 version?

        • +1

I have just installed windows 10. I updated the bios to 1.16 after upgrading from windows 8.1 to 10

        • Not yet but will very soon.

        • @ian1095: Just for clarity, there are 2 BIOS 1.16, the Win 8.1 (rolled up with driver updates) & Win10 which is about 3MB. It's the latter you should use if you have made the leap to Win10

        • how do i update bios? Is there built in utility that i just run and it updates it? Or have ro download from acer?

        • @ow: download update, right click - run/open
if it says it needs to reboot, let it….all done

        • @rayski57:

@rayski, where do i find this download update app in windows 8.1?? Is this in control panell?

        • @ow: Sorry, I should have been clearer, officially you should be able to use the Acer app that ships installed on the tablet (Acer update?), unofficially I found it to be poor and use acer.com.au/support to get to all the files for the device

        • @rayski57: Yes I installed both, with the 3MB one second. Then when upgrading told it to do a full reset so fairly clean system.

    • Do a recovery/fresh install if there is still issues.

      • I also have issues before to do re3covery/fresh install in Windows 8.1.
I just proceed to update to Windows 10 instead. All good now.

  • @rayski, where do i find this download update app in windows 8.1?? Is this in control panel?

  • Received mine today, but when I turned it on, it goes to the login page (used/returned one?). I don't think that is the way it is setup. Anyone had this experience? How to reinstall the os?

    • It comes with a DVD to do a restore.

Or an even easy option, upgrade to Windows 10 and choose complete wipe. You'll be all set.

      • I couldn't log into the tablet. Then, how can I update?

        • Do a bois start up and reset first? The login for windows are to protect your info in the account but it does not "brick" your computer like ipad or iphone i guess.

      • How MS Office works with Win 10. Does the Office need to be activated in Win 8 or can it be activated in Win 10?

    • Aren't your shrink wrapped? Check if the 360 office is still ok or used?

      • It came in proper packaging and the tablet looks new, but when I turned on, it asks for the user name and password.

  • Thanks PainToad and wtfnodeal. Finally I managed to reinstall windows.
