In other words, I want somethin that can "provide power to charge an upstream computer host and connectivity to downstream USB devices simultaneously."
All to be done through cable connection, i.e. no bluetooth.
USB 3.0, preferably.
And no rooting required.
May be one that is powerful enough to let me watch movies/videos stored on my thumb drive or microSD card?
Is there such a device or a combination of devices?
If not , how do you guys get such a set up done?
I have read quite a few conflicting advice.
For example, on these pages , it says this is possible with Ipad 1.5 years ago and an Android phone

Yet on this page, many threads here state that this cannot be done with Android devices.

Advice?
Thanks a million.
tl:dr
Basically, I want to set up a portable mini desktop computer (i.e. Android tablet or phone) with keyboard and mouse and external drive (i.e. thumb drive or microSD card or DVD drive) while at the same time charge the 8" tablet. Possible?
Can't be done, Android devices use more than a free OS, they use pre-designed ports that don't support all the things a user might want to do. In short, the manufacturers don't think about what they do as much as some others.
Anyone know of an Android/pocket snitch with two ports or something like a lightning connector that does all that?
