That's about what I paid for them from the outlet 18 months ago. They're nice enough monitors, only TN panels but they're not awful ones that require you to sit just right to see the colours properly.

For the price, you can't go wrong really.

  • How do you add to cart?

    • +2

You click the "Got A Question? Chat Now" button and conduct the transaction via live chat.

      • Or you give them a call and you get your own personal account manager! :)

  • No HDMI?

    • No, but everything else

    • +1

Correct. No HDMI. VGA is fine for most people :)
That may be why it's so damn cheap!! A few people on Amazon said the build quality of the stand was average, but gave it a high score anyway.

Thanks OP - that was a great find.

A note about these screens, don't use the USB hub if you want these screens after the OS going to sleep as it generally doesn't wake, we learnt that the hard way in 10,000+ deployment with a small team (less than 10) having to go back around to every computer to remove the hub cable.

So much cardboard packaging, must get chief to jump in the cart to squash it down.

    • Dell screens don't sleep if they're connected to USB? That might explain the ones I have at home..

      • What I mean is if the computer tower goes to sleep, the USB ports/hub on the screen are unable to wake the computer via Keyboard or Mouse, instead K+M need to be plugged into the tower direct which makes the ports pretty much useless (unless you are using it for something that doesn't need to wake the computer such as a portable hard drive) cause the hub is apparently reliant on an OS driver which can't respond when the OS is not running ie sleeping much like their keyboards with the card readers which causes you to restart the whole computer.

It is possible that you have the driver fix that they suggested to us that makes forces the OS never to sleep which is stupid, having the computer run just for the sake of someone using the keyboard or mouse to wake the computer up instead of tapping the power key on the tower (wasting power which is a big no no in this organisation, however sleeping is ok cause the staff can't wait for a full boot time due to their job being time critical).

    • I think you've confused this with the P2214H - the E line doesn't have USB ports.

  • Are these good for gaming? Can I play Witcher 3 on max settings on these without any flicker or lag?

    • +1

Good? No. Playable? Yes. Lag? Should be fine for Witcher 3 type of games.

  • Stock is still available.

    • I actually contacted a sales rep a few hours before this was posted. I just got a reply saying it's sold out. Strange. Maybe I got a lazy rep.

      • Yup I got a lazy rep. I contacted them again after posting above, and just got an email from another rep saying one is now reserved for me.

  • What are your thoughts comparing
    AS NEW Dell 22 Monitor E2214H for $ 121
    REFURBISHED Dell P2214H 21.5" Monitor for $ 145
Just the usual home office stuff - not a gamer

    • The main advantages of P2214H that I can see are:
      - P2214H has better IPS panel with better viewing angles (E2214H is a cheaper TN panel).
      - more connectivity options including DVI-D, VGA, DisplayPort and a 3-port USB 2.0 Hub (vs DVI-D & VGA).
      - better stand including height-adjustable, pivot, tilt & swivel (vs tilt only).

All Outlet products carry a 1 Year warranty, so if you don't mind taking the obvious risks with refurbished, then the P2214H is good value at $145.

      • Thanks. I prettymuch get what As New means - I'm a littlevagueon Refurbished. Does that mean it's been in use in an officefor two or three years?

        • Generally, refurbished includes faulty products that have been returned, repaired then re-sold as refurbished. It may also include used products that have been returned.

As to age of refurbished products, Dell doesn't specify this, but I'd guess that they'd be less than 12 months old.

You can read the FAQs here:

@1bug: Also, some Dell monitors allow you to enter service mode where you can see how many hours the monitor has done.

  • Price for P2214H is now $165. Support are unhelpful if you ask them for yesterdays price.

    • $161, but now its As New (rather than refurb)

      • Still a good price then? what's the difference between as new and refurb?

        • New = 0 hours, no scratches, marks, etc.
Refurb = x hours, may or may not have scratches, marks, etc.

If you're lucky you can get a refurb that's just like new.

  • "As New" = ?

    • I received my "as new" monitor today. The monitor itself was new, sealed in the box, but the box had a small tear in it.

      • Well done!
I just ended a chat session (expecting to place an order) and they will get back to me within 24hrs(!) I wouldve thought a real time stock inventory wouldnt be out of the question in 2015…
        When did you order?

        • +1

They're a bit of a mess. I first ordered on Wednesday the 29th at around 3.30pm through their chat. The rep said he'll check availability and email me back.

I didn't receive any replies so on Thursday I emailed at 5pm asking about it. The rep replied at 7pm saying it is no longer available.

I had a look at the site and there was still stock available - less than there was yesterday.

I then contacted another rep on Thursday at 7.50pm. He said the admin who can check availability has left work, so he'll check it for me the next day. On Friday, I received an email at 1pm saying the monitor is reserved for me and to send my phone number so he can give me a call for payment and delivery info.

I received the emailed invoice via email yesterday, and the monitor turned up today.

        • @eug: Well I think you did well
Quite frankly, Im finding this engagement model (contact Dell, put up your hand, they'll get back to you at some point to advise whether of not they DO have any of the x units they're advertising) as archaic - and a sad joke.
They emailed this morning saying that they dont have any stock of the DFO I nominated and would I like to choose something else? I checked online and there were still four. So he's going to check again. It feels too much like a lottery. And yes, just checking again now (2h later) they're gone. 2015? Indeed…
