  • Comes down to $80.42 per month, is that cheap ?

      See here

$75/month with Virgin, $80/month with Optus

Brings Telstra down to a more reasonable level!

  • Do "new customers" include existing customers who apply for a new service/number?

  • Initial knee jerk reaction was wow - that's expensive. But it does include the mobile so as you say, for Telstra it's not bad. Personally, I now use Boost ($40 per month) and buy my handset outright, so for around the same price I get unlimited calls/text with Telstra coverage (if not 4G, but for the most part I don't miss that) more than enough data for my purposes and the ability to buy a new handset every year rather than every two years….

Telstra already offer a "New phone feeling" promotion, that allows the customer after 12 months to swap their existing handset for a fixed fee of $149 to a brand handset on a 24 month contract .. gthere are a few standard requirements for the phone that you are trading in for the new one .. see for more https://goo.gl/QqxsVD

      • Interesting, but it seems you need to hand back the old mobile and it also needs to be in "working order". So if you lose or break your mobile, this deal doesn't apply……

  • I signed up for this deal in store as I needed a phone that day and forgot entirely about the CashRewards bonus.
This is an excellent deal and the $200 bonus credit is applied instantly. (I got a 'bill' to say I was $200 in credit within the first 3 days of signing up).

Also bonus, if you have an ABN (including sole trader) you can sign up for the business version. $100 per month (vs $95 non-business) but comes with priority support and an additional "Data Share" SIM card for use in a tablet or hotspot. Very handy if you're like me and have an S6 Edge that dies in about 12 minutes of screen on time. :P

    • Can anyone confirm if this applies to business sign ups as well ..

      • +1

I can, I signed up with an ABN as stated above ^

  • its really "CHEAP"

And if you don't want the $150 cashback…

      • Woops. didn't really see that haha

  • Not sure if i would be eligible for the $200 credit. Im a year into a 24 month telstra plan on a $95 phone plan for my s5 and i pay $10 a month for the "new phone feeling" which if u want i can get a new phone on a new 24 month plan. Does any1 kniw if i will be eligible for the $200 credit if i go on a new 24 month plan?

  • can anyone pls confirm the $150 cashback will be available if you sign a 24month contract plan?
when i click on shop now link from cashrewards, it takes me to telstra where you see a 2 second splash screen and one of the terms reads "cashback only available on 30 telstra pack"???

this would suck if its the case.

    • Andrew here from Cashrewards, thanks for letting us know about this, its a technical error we are fixing now.

Rest assured the $150 cashback will be available if you follow all the terms and sign up to a 24 moth plan. Any further queries let me know.

      • awesome, thanks for quick reply but how do i know or can i get a confirmation somehow in writing?
i sent an email to cashback rewards already but reply is going to take 1-2days and i am wanting to sign up today.

The spashscreen is very misleading as it disappears in like 2 secs.

        cheers.

        • Just whatever you do, make sure you clear cookies etc if you keep jumping in and out of the telstra site

          @Spackbace:

thanks for the tip: ihave been jumping in and out trying to catch the spashscreen lol

      • Thanks Andrew, i just checked again and it has been fixed now.

        Cheers.

Well the way I see it:

    120/month for 64 or 128gb iphone
30% write off on tax before discount = 40/month
If you claim you use half your phone bill for work (if you're adventurous really that figure could be up to 66% or 75%) then that's 20/month back on tax

Cash rewards + discount is 350/24 months = almost 15/month discount

So 120-35/month = 85/month over 2 years for a new handset + best coverage + ample calls and data

Compare that to the new iphone of equivalent price being 1200. Over 24 months that's 50/month. Now add on either boosts 40/month unlimited, or the recent optus 50/month deal and you are looking at 90/100 per month if you buy outright

This is actually a pretty good deal.

  • Very good deal. I need the 6Gb plan but have just bought an S6 edge so will have to settle for the sim only plan, which is $70 a month. Granted, you're not tied into a 24 month plan but the chances are that I'd stay for that long anyway.

So, for just over $10 a month extra, I'd get a new S6. Why the hell are sim only deals so damn expensive?

    • +1

That's $240 extra. Worth getting it anyway and selling the S6?

      • Yeah, it certainly looks the best way to get 6Gb a month.

Just can't understand why the hell they don't do the $70 casual sim only plan on a contract and make it worthwhile/of value. $70 is bloody stupid for a sim only deal, especially when you can get a new phone for little more.

  • Are their phones network locked? I might go for this deal and get an iPhone 6 and give it to the daughter…..but she's on Vodafone.

    Cheers.

    • Ordered online but stopped in its tracks as they require three forms of ID. Now, will this invalidate the cashback from Cash Rewards?

    • All telstra plan phones should (are) not be locked.
