Vision direct is an online optical retailer claiming to have the best prices and the biggest range of eyewear in Australia.
(The parent company behind the site is now considered the biggest online optical retailer on Earth!)

They stock 180 different brands and over 80,000 individual products in their catalogue (with 25,000 of them always in stock and available for immediate delivery).

All designer frames are guaranteed to be 100% authentic. No fake Chinese copies here.

They also offer FREE express delivery anywhere in Australia as well as cheap shipping to overseas destinations.

I wrote a detailed review about this retailer as well as one of their competitors which you might want to consider.

You can also face them against each other as both offer a 'Best price guarantee'.

As per the subject, the coupon code is valid for any eyewear except contacts and there is no minimum purchase amount required to qualify.

Fair Disclosure: - we are an affiliate of this merchant and the links in our review are all affiliate links. The link provided here is a direct one as per OzBargain rules.

Despite being an affiliate of this store, I'm not recommending them because they pay us but rather following extensive research we conducted on this company and the people behind it (which is provided in our review) as well as my own personal experience (yep, I bought from them in the past and had a great experience).

I think this is a great example of a global company which, for a change, doing the right thing by its customers as well as the planet as a whole and making us all very proud on the world stage. Its 3 Australian founders really seem like top blokes.

    • agreed, and the OP's post smells of SPAM to me

    • I am familiar with this post. It is one of the items that came across our desk when we were researching the company for our review of it.

I also remember reading through it when I was looking at making my own purchase from them.

Here is what I have to say:

      • There are several issues worth noting about the Whirlpool thread:

      A. There seems a bit of confusion there between two unrelated websites: Vision DIRECT and Vision EXPRESS (which seems to be the dodgy one)

      B. The original poster who started this thread ('crass') later came back with the following comment:

Sorry for abandoning this thread - the site has probably been inundated with Christmas orders, because I received emails and confirmations from Michelle at Vision Direct shortly after posting this thread, and my glasses arrived promptly after in tip-top condition.
By the way, you might want to take the quoted delivery times with a slight grain of salt. They usually take 2-3 days longer than the quote

      • This retailer gets 4 out of possible 5 stars on Product Review (based on almost 1200 reviews) and 9.3 out of a possible 10 on Trust Pilot (based on 2630 reviews). Anyone familiar with these sites would know this is extremely rare for companies to score that high on there.

      • The company has been featured on the ABC's Australia network after winning the 2014 Australia-China Business Awards for "changing the way the industry does business."

      • The company's CEO (and one of the 3 co-founders, all of them Australian) has been invited by Bloomberg (the most prestigious, popular and watched business and finance news service on Earth) to talk about the company's growth and demonstrate their unique and proprietary 'try-at-home' technology.

I will leave you (and the rest of the OzBargain community) to draw their own conclusions :)

      • I'm not going to read through the whole post but it seems like there are mixed reviews, so you are right in letting everyone here come to their own conclusions. I thought I would also mention that "Vision Express" is mentioned a total of 3 times at the beginning of the post 8 years ago. "Vision Direct" is mentioned 483 times.

A few years ago I purchased a cheap pair of sunnies as a friend wanted a particular model that was sold through Vision Direct. I was eventually lead to that thread as it took about 3 months for them to arrive. I can't really comment on the authenticity of the Police sunglasses I bought, however they arrived in a third party case (as well as cloth) but did seem legitimate.

At the end of the day I am willing to spend the same amount of money, or a few extra $$ for the peace of mind that comes with buying sunglasses elsewhere such as through Amazon or other local stores when sales are on.

  • good luck to them making a lot of money, but they made my pair in wrong prescription which I only worked out after many headaches so they offer to do it right if I pay to return them.
