There was a safety concern with this 900w model.. was it fixed? How does the nutribullet compare to the ninja iq? Missed the groupbuy for 150 :(

    • I'm curious about this also.

Here is one such report advising of safety concerns. No update since September 2014.

      http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2014/07/nutribullet-…

    • I love my Nutribullet. But I have the 600w model…

      Use it daily…

      • +1

Do you feel the cyclonic action!!

        • I find it exciting to watch…

    • +1

Ninja IQ is 1000w. The IQ part is basically two pre programmed blending cycles, and a timer display. Apart from that, they're pretty darn similar. I bought the Ninja IQ and really like it.

  • I've used both Love my Ninja IQ as blending options are pre-set. For me I feel the Nutribullet not having on switch is a major flaw… the rubber cog seems to wear after a lot of use.

Only down side on the Ninja is its very loud but really packs a punch.

Don't believe the hype and buy something cheaper.

    • Haha entertaining short skit - thanks for the post :)

This is a show on the ABC called the checkout, they did an episode recently with the nutribullet in it. Well worth the watch :)
http://iview.abc.net.au/programs/checkout/LE1402H013S00 Watch the whole show it's quirky, informative and funny :)

      • +8

I find your comments very misleading. You imply that there's some evidence of The Checkout misleading. In fact there's a company suing and the ABC denying. And the company is not suing based on the substance of the segment - that the science supporting the health claims of A2 is shonky - but "factual inaccuracies included the number of studies quoted by the ABC as comparing A1 and A2 milk, misattributing quotes, and incorrect pricing information".

        • +5

          @jv:
and he pointed out that they made no attempt at debunking the core facts regarding a2 but petty crap like "oohh pricing is wrong, and we had an extra 2 or 3 bullshit studies that were rigged in our favor"…

go on.. buy as seen on tv crap. Shocking that in this day and age you can't spot a obvious deceptive companies selling overpriced blenders and milk. Go ahead, blend away.

I sadly bought one years ago and even on sale, I still feel ripped off. Piece of crap can't even break up ice. But, I am wiser now. as seen on tv stuff is crap.

        • +1

Mine was $30 at Big W and does the same job as my friends $200 nutribullet.

        • @jv:

I notice how you left "The a2 Milk Company claims" off the beginning of your quote. Changes the context, don't you think? Trying to mislead again…

      • +6

bla.. a2 got pissed for getting called out….

        • -6

they'd need more than that to sue…

        • +5

          @jv:
PLEASE. a bullshit lawsuit?? NOO!! never happens!! at all!! everyone that sues has a ton of evidence and is always right.

        • +1

          @jv:

Unlike a criminal case, there's no minimum standard of evidence to launch a civil case. Plenty of companies do it even with no hope of success. Look what's happening here - A2 may very well lose this case but people like you are already spreading on social media that A2 are right and the ABC have mislead. Job done, no need to proceed with the case now.

      • +1

I think it's an awesome and informative show.. you're nitpicking over one company suing the show because it puts them in a bad light.. Do you own a nutribullet by any chance?

  • +2

Given this site is about savings we bought a few of the el cheao versions from the el cheap shops our brand us cook well and for the 20 bucks it works a treat make shakes and blend in it every day and when it conks out I will use the other one in garage ..only issue I had was the little knobs on the plastic cup you use to blend broke but u get a few if them but can't see why it's an eighth of the product composted to the one mentioned here

    • Spot on. I have used both and can tell no discernible difference in the ones that are 6x+ the price.

  • i dont know why this one is so expensive. i have a similar blender, nearly 10years old. the technology is certainly not new.

    • +8

but this one reveals super nutrients that are hidden to the naked eye?

  • +1

IMO anything that they need to advertise on those crappy TV shopping shows should stay there.

    • THIS…. and yet its still amazing how people buy as seeon on tv crap.

  • "Mother-of-one 'suffers horrific burns when NutriBullet kitchen smoothie blender explodes in her face"

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3151930/Mother-one-s…

This is recent news. Don't know which model is this, but pretty scary

  • Yeah I think they're pretty overrated to be honest.
I bought one a little under a year ago for about $120 or something … and I don't think that was even on sale? (might be the 600w one).
Leaves bits of ice or fruit wedged under the blades a lot and have to open it up and jiggle them around and go again … kinda disappointing considering that was one of it's selling points that it can just blitz everything away with the press of a button.

  • if I'm gonna spend $169 so much on a "bullet" size blender…might as well spend double the money to get the Omniblend which is larger, more versatile & durable..

    • +7

might as well spend double the money

      Well that escalated quickly.

  • +1

I got this. The way I see it, it has to break 6.6 times for it to be better value to get the nutribullet price.

Here's my take on this. Like most people I use these single serving blenders every day.
    I've bought 4 of these in the past 2 years for myself and family. 2 x 600W and 2 x 900W.

    • One of the 600W started burning inside the electrics after 3 months of use
    • They easily leak, even if you fill to the maximum level in the cup
    • The blades stopped turning for me in 2 of the ones I bought. It just got stuck either from rust or what not. If you search the internet there's also plenty of incidences where people found rust on their blades hence in their drink

In my opinion, the Nutri Ninja (http://www.ninjakitchen.com/nutri-ninja/) is the way to go.
1000W. No leaks. Much better build quality.

    • Don't you think 1000W is idiotic?

      • Not when it comes to going through ice and frozen fruits/veges. Not sure if the Ninja can do frozen stuff but the 2238W Optimum 9400 blender I have makes me appreciate the power.

        • +2

Kambrook Blitz2Go 300W has no problems with ice and frozen fruit.

        • @Max Power:
I remember checking that model out - many reviews I read at http://www.productreview.com.au/p/kambrook-blitz2go.html talked about overheating, motors dying, struggling with frozen goods and some caution about not blending for more than 30 seconds. It's only after at least a minute do I get the smoothness I like, and that's from a blender with possibly the largest blades on the market running at 44000 rpm.

        • @Max Power: also been using george foreman mix and go for frozen fruit without any issues

  • -2

    Can this thing do nespresso's?

  • +3

Seems like a lot of people are paying a lot of money for pointlessly overpowered blenders with the religious-like belief hope that there's some health benefit derived from the name containing the meaningless letter sequence NUTRI and er … more watts.

Oh yeah and they seem to break a hell of a lot.

    • Watt?

      • +3

        Seriously, joule be disappointed.

  • Do yourself a favour and buy this instead https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-1400w-vitablast-blender/

  • The baby version is often really cheap I have noticed, seen it as low as 100 instore. Same thing, just in poo brown colour

    • Doesn't matter what colour it is going in, it always comes out that colour anyway.

  • +1

15% off RRP is a bargain??? Who do they think they are, Apple?

  • I'm guessing, like all other products, that start as exclusively available via infomercials, in a year or two, Nutribullets will probably be selling for $30 at discount stores.

    • +1

You mean like the original magic bullet that was on infomercials back in 2003 and the other incarnations that have been in Big W/Kmart/Target since 2007?

  • We had the Nutribullet and it is magic….during the first few months.

After the initial honeymoon period, it started to develop leaks around the seals and oils started to leak into the main compartment and give us additional favours to our nutrijuice.

  • -3

As per the reports defective do not buy. Shame on them. I don't care how cheap it is if it's s lemon it can't b a bargain.

    • +2

Invalid reason to neg a deal.

I'm looking at your comment history and see that you never have anything positive to contribute, you are just a grumpy sad man.

      • -3

I tend only to post when the blind sheep are mindlessly following idiots. No point just clicking + like a goof ball ur if that's ur idea of s happy life ignorance is bliss the. I guess.

As for ur comments history I couldn't give a stuff or waste my time trolling them. U must have too much time.

        • +2

You urgently need to seek help.

        • -3

          @c0balt:

Ull realise I'm trying to help the masses that need it. Ur being counterproductive. When the lunatics run the asylum it's hard being the only sane person and voice of reason.

      • -1

Looks like ive been over powered by the lunatics. Pile on everyone.

        • Stacks on!!! ;)

  • I have heard from reliable sources that the Nutri Ninja is a far better product (power, design, blades).

    • Yes.. trying to find a deal..

  • Might be OK but I'm wondering - "will it blend?"

  • Gotta say, I purchased the original nutribullet when it first come out and I've had a lot of problems with the quality of the mixing container and having the little prongs which insert into the base of the nutribullet snapping off. The quality of the plastic ain't great on them. My 2c
