Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has had experience with..you guessed it..Aami contents insurance.
I've got a few older things such as gopro, vacuum, camera that were taken but arent being made anymore.
Any clue what they will replace it with? I've got to get quotes for what was taken but unsure which model to get?
Ie- black model of the gopro current? Or will they replace it with the cheapest version they can find?
Any help with your experiences will be appreciated.
Cheers

It's new for old replacement but that's all the details it goes into. I've spoken to them on the phone but they are quite vague. More just curious if people have got back everything they were meant to or if they found they were screwed over a bit
I just made a claim with them a couple of months ago. The replacements were fine but the whole process was a little slow, especially with replacing some carpet. They paid out the cash value for replacement of smaller items like a hair dryer based on some online quotes I gave them from retailers like David Jones. The most expensive item to be replaced was a mattress, they didn't replace it with the exact same brand/model, I had to go to a store for a quote on an equivalent mattress (same specs; memory foam, core pocket springs, etc. but different although still well known brand). Even though the new mattress quoted for was cheaper I was still fine with it because it was brand new and my old mattress wasn't. I didn't even need that mattress any more either so was happy enough to just take the cash amount anyway.
In your case I expect they will replace with whatever the closest equivalent is.
Alright thanks for that donga, they've already been quite slow this far. They said they have to deal with the nsw storms. What can you do though
They told me they were still dealing with the hail storms from November. You can call them up and ask to speak to your claims consultant, this will speed it up by at least 3 weeks as their turnaround time is 13 business days to get a claim started. Just keep doing this otherwise it will drag on for many months.
With things that aren't made anymore you'll either be offered an equivalent version, a store credit, or cash settlement.
Equivalent versions will be same manufacturer and feature set but may not be the same pricing level. For example, your 10MP camera with all the bells and whistles was top of the line 5 years ago but a 10MP camera with the same features is now entry level. You do have the right to get the features matched so push for the best feature matching model you can.
What does your policy document say? Or, if you can't find anything there, why not ring AAMI?
