Went to Big W today on a whim. Headset Adapter advertised at $20, which was still a bargain, but scanned at $3. This was the last one at Ballarat store. Register Dude was as shocked as I was.

Good price but how on earth could $20 be a bargain for an adapter?
RRP is $40 I believe, and this allows you to put any headphones in and listen to game music, aswell as chat
Yeah, I understand. But didn't ms just bring out a new controller with this built in because owners felt burned at having to pay out to use a headset?
That might be why these units are going cheaper; because they are becoming redundant. Spending $35 for the adapter is still preferable, for some, over spending ~$70 for a new controller with the port.
@Lodan: actually yeah in big ws case. I think price will go up soon, as it seems they're becoming hard to buy.

I agree with this. Why spend a whole $70-80 extra when the controller came with it is perfectly fine, so I'll spend $35 on the adapter instead.
Because they're $35 every where else and $40+ on ebay.

really makes you think of the margins they put on these things when they can get away with selling it for this price
I actually doubt the margins are that high for Big W and I'm am very sure that this was sold at a loss, the margins are probably high for Microsoft though.
Yeah, was part of the Big W $3 sale. Wouldn't be many left, so definitely snap them up if you see one.
