Can anyone suggest a good compact USB card reader for this too? (had many of those $1 ones die on me)
if you don't need an SD card reader (which many desktops/Laptop come with as a standard these days) ie. you just need the microsd to full size sd card adapter then I believe this comes with the adapter and works pretty good. you just need to insert the microsd to the full sized sd card adapter which then inserts into your computer's sd card slot.

Actually it had the shipping charge added to the discounted price all the way to PayPal. $16 something total.

I am keen to get this to replace the 4GB card on my Canon S95 compact. If I use the MicroSD + MicroSD->Sd card adaptor and use that in the camera, is this generally ok or am I looking for troubles.

Potential problems as your camera might not support SDHC cards, if it does then it should work. A quick look around would suggest that it does so for $7.50 it's worth a try.
