Are you one of those people who like to hang on to the freshest looking notes and shiniest coins that come your way?
BTW, if you haven't already do vote in the poll on sorting money.

AFAIK that's the highest and probably will stay that way, with e-payment gaining ground.
Really! No 500/1000 bills? I was hoping to see some of those, partly because the region I come from, most countries have upto 1000 bill in local currency.
Well, you learn something everyday.
I've still got a 1 million Turkish lire note from before they lopped off 6 zeros so that I can call myself a millionaire. :)
@greenpossum: heh heh, I hope u heard the stories about Zimbabwe Dollar.
What's with the coin size? Higher value coins are tiny, lower value ones are bigger. Should not it be the other way around?
@bargainaus: Might as well put out a poll on that too. Stay tuned.
I have a few hundred billion Zimbabwean dollars stashed away hehe.
The last time when I went to Vietnam for a holiday. My hotel room cost me 1 million Dong a night. I thought I was getting the penthouse….
Whats AFAIK?
As far as I know, and for all I know, it's as far as is known.
"Are you one of those people who like to hang on to the freshest looking notes and shiniest coins that come your way?"
And then what, beat off on it before putting it back into circulation?
On a lighter note this article calls out the germs in the currency notes !!

Do any of you avoid using notes for this reason ? Few years ago, I was disgusted the ignorant local butcher handled the cash register with his gloves on to hand back the change. Surely, I do not go to that butcher but I see this happening in many of the food outlets.
I personally do not avoid using cash but the newer the better for the wallet bacteria level !!
Still and all. The novelty factor alone these days sees cash as very useful bargain tool. 'Novelty factor' does bring increased wariness from some, especially when paying with multiple fresh notes. There are some imaginings / 'likely counterfeit' looks askance, by / from some people.
I always intersperse new with old if I have them and re-orient notes, in any case. Lined-up surface features on new notes can see them 'stick' together. A higher risk of handing over more money than needed. That's not good…
Inside or outside top pocket, buttoned or unbuttoned, I carry notes there and in an extremely un-flash money clip. I've never been pickpocketed, even overseas. Touch wood/wallet.
You appear to be obsessed with currency at the moment, greenpossum. In the US, they would wrongly, I'm sure, associate your name with a Trump-like love of cash, + , possibly, possum-fur-like hairwear.
Needless to say.. 'That's not good… ' Either!
Actually I'm obsessed with obsession at the moment. Having some of the habits I enumerate in my polls I was curious about other people's quirks. I'll move on to other obsessions in due course. :)
Are you sure?
Obsessively.
@greenpossum: Good. Ok (?), um, but just like new notes, this one does seem be sticking, a bit.
I think this applies more to paper notes. Relatively new paper notes feel so much better than those relatively old ones, at least in my opinion. I tend to be indifferent with plastic ones, i.e. Australian ones.
That's a good point. Some Chinese parents might have been used to keeping new notes around CNY for stuffing ang pows. In fact in Asian countries some people even go to the bank to get fresh ones before CNY.
I think it feels better to receive something that feels new (paper notes tend to deteriorate fairly quickly). Besides, it doesn't cost anything if you just go to bank and get paper notes.
Old, new, shiny or dull, I like to hold on to all the meney that comes my way💰
Are you sure you are on the right site?
The question was what I "like" to do with my money. not what I do
If I get new non creased notes, I'll crinkle them just so no one else gets that new note feeling…
I always keep the new ones as I find the grains of blow stick to the sides of the old ones, and I hate to see wastage
Pay with credit card whenever possible. I don't like having coins (as change from my cash transactions) in my pocket as they will go to waste (unnecessary purchase, etc).
Who uses cash these days? Having said that, I've only seen/touched/smelled 100$ bill max, is there more higher bills in Australia lol!
