There's a $50 cashback offer going on Harvey Norman purchases above $300 with Amex card through Amex Connect registration. I have registered my card for Amex Connect benefits today and saved Harvey Norman offer onto it. Do I become eligible to get $50 cashback right away or is there any waiting time after the registration in order to be eligible for $50 cashback on purchases over $300 at say Harvey Norman?
There's no way to confirm if the cashback was applied until we see it on the statement.. right?Please advise. I made a payment at Harvey Norman and they didn't even know abt this offer. I guess since it's a cashback offer and not a discount offer, stores don't have much role to play at the time of payment.
I doubt HN will know about this cashback as it is done by AE. For me as soon as I avail one of the cash backs like the recent 7-11 or McDonald one I immediately got ( 30 sec) an email stating that I have successfully availed the cashback and the credit will be added in 5 working days.
As ozshaz said, you should get an email straight away saying you successfully got a cashback.

Has anyone tried this with giftcards? Did it work? If not, anyway to bypass the giftcard restriction?
No, probably Amex Connect won't even recognize the gift card at the time of registration even if you have got your name registered on the gift card by calling Amex up. This is my guess though.
Has anyone got cash back after purchasing gift cards out there?
Can you purchase the gift card together with a physical product? I am just guessing that AmEx can only see the total bill.
