Been looking at flights to Manchester from Perth for November over for the last couple of months. The prices just jumped over the last day or two from ~$650 to ~$900 one way.
Anyone know why and if they might go back down?

First time hearing about this cunning practice. Is it legal in AU ?
Ignore that BS. Even for the 1 in 1000 people who back that nonsense up with evidence, it is coincidence or they even get the opposite result!
No, I believe this to be true. I was searching flights to Thailand a few years back and suddenly the day I wanted jumped by about $100 whilst the days around it stayed the same. Checking a few hours later and the price had dropped back down again. Don't think clearing your cookies will help much though, probably something server-side.
You know what, I've just confirmed this.
I've been looking at particular flights to Rome on Etihad for the past 3 days through iwantthatflight, which lead me to bestjet which had them for $1,333 return. Today they were nowhere to be found by searching on iwantthatflight, but I did find them on bestjet for $1550~.
So I changed browser to firefox and went to skyscanner, and there they were for $1,333 on bestjet where I promptly booked them.
I was booking hotels in the U.S. on wot if and after looking around (it was a mystery hotel) the price went up. Got my sons iPad and got the lower price. I have done that it at home on the computer then the phone and they definitely know it's you and what you want and take the chance you'll pay the higher price in case it goes up more. (Like a crazy friend of mine said - it's not paranoia if it's actually happening)
It's a new financial quarter so discounts also tend to change. I would have thought $650 one way on Etihad would have been an absolute steal though and $900 is more what I would expect them to be, at least for the east coast but don't imagine they discount that much for travel from the west.
The ~$680 on Qatar is still a great deal and less transit time than with Etihad.

I've had it happen to me too. With jetstar.
Also there were some June offers that expired. Only noticed it when I looked at the fare conditions. Fortunately I booked just before.
The could be a multitude of reasons, but one of the best tricks they have is, they log your computer on their system by way of cookies or something like that. so every time you search, delete your cookies, history, etc. and you might be pleasantly suprised. The airlines do this to play with one of your senses and make you book it in quicker at a more attractive price to them. i.e. they raise the price when they think you are getting closer to booking, as to make you book quicker and to make you think you're getting a good deal.
