  • I see the ~$360 Asus 4Gb/32Gb Asus zenphone 2's that Kogan had two days ago are now ~$409…

    Just saying…

    • +4

That's because there was a 10% off tech sale at the time, bringing it down to 359. There was also a $50 voucher on offer.
That sale is now replaced by this 20% off ebay sale, making it $327.

  • Just note, compared to the last 20% G4 deal, it does not come with Quadbeats headphones or leather back.

    • Why doesn't it come with Quadbeat headphones?

      • Not sure why. But as shown on the ebay listing:

        What's in the box

        LG G4 4G LTE
        USB Cable
        Charger
        Australia/New Zealand Compliant Adapter

        • They probably just haven't included it in the list. It should come with it.

        • +2

          @TheOneWhoKnocks:

Probably better to email and ask than to assume.

          @mashimus:
          Thank you for contacting Kogan.com.

I can confirm that the LG G$ we comes with stock earphones and does not come with the QuadBeat earphones.

Kindly check what's in the box for more details of what items would come with the LG G4: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/lg-g4-4g-lte-32gb-grey/

The LG QuadBeat earphones are being sold separately.

If there is anything more we can do for you or if we could improve your experience, please feel free to let us know.

        • @jiakz:

          What are stock earphones?

        • Picked up my phone from the newsagent (alternate dropoff point for Toll Priority).

          Package include:
          - Kogan charger in a seperate box
          - LG Hong Kong charger
          - Quadbeat 3 earphones
          - LG G4 phone with clear screen protector stickers, side stickers and back stickers still on.
          - USB cable
          - Manual in a red box
          - The plastic back cover had some circuitry for NFC. No wireless charging circuitry. I've double checked pictures with Google.
          - The battery's packaging has it's sticker seal broken but it's genuine LG (from what I've seen on YouTube) and works fine.

The phone is huge compared to my S2 but it's so slim that I don't feel that it's huge. Holding the S2 now feels too small.

EDIT: I bought the white plastic model.

        • @Manh:

They could be from a different batch this time. Apparently the G4s sold in the UK included the quad beats but the ones sold in the US didn't.

        • @simhanada:
I bought it 6 days ago on Sunday while the 10% off sale was on with the bonus $50 voucher.

        • @Manh:

          • LG G4 phone with clear screen protector stickers, side stickers and back stickers still on.

So there's a useable screen protector already applied? When Samsung does it, there's logos on it making it not useable. And once I've peeled it off, I can't put my own on without dust getting underneath it.

        • @lostn:

Yep, I'm using it as a screen protector right now. Maybe next year I'll upgrade it to a glass protector.

        • @lostn:

I wouldnt use it long term. My mates G4 got scratched and it went through the default protector on to the glass.

        • @mashimus My assumption was correct. Hmm

        • @TheOneWhoKnocks: Did you knock one out cause you were so proud of yourself? ;)

        • @mashimus: No. That's your job. ;) ✊

Seriously though, I guess saying 'my assumption was correct' was unnecessary but there's no need to go to that assumption (how ironic).

  • +2

The phone was around $680 last night. Now $754.

    • +4

Again, there was a 10% off sale last night which expired. It has been replaced by this 20% off offer.

  • +1

Yeah I thought this would be closer to $550 by now. I think this phone will get cheaper anyhow.

    • Of course it'll get cheaper but by the time it would get down to this price from a grey import market price of $699 will by months away. Maybe even up to when the new iPhone comes out later in the year.

      • Yeah but I think this phone is going to drop in value faster than other flagship phones typically do.

        • It'll only drop as fast as it's closest competitor which is the S6.

  • now I regret buying G3 for $391 a month ago….

    • +4

mate $391 is good price for a G3 and one of the top value phones under the $400 mark. you could always spend more such as this $600 G4 or even more maybe $800 for something else

G4 has better camera and thats pretty much it

you can get this G4 now and ebay the G3 later (one month old as new unlocked!!!)

      • +1

thanks for making me feel good about my decision …it was G4 price drop($800 to $588), which made me feel i should have waited bit more.
I do love my G3 so I will pass this one.

        • Rumors of a G5 coming out at the end of the year!

        • +1

@Manh: I'm going to wait for the G5 … to go sale… the ozb way

        • @Manh: It's G4 PRO, not G5. Will have Snapdragon 820.

    • +3

I think G3 at that price is better value too. Not worth $200 extra just for a slightly better camera. I had a look at some camera comparisons between G3 and G4 and you can only see the difference if you really zoom in to the picture heaps, which most people will never do.

      • You get more than a slightly better camera with the G4.

I think the note 4 for around $540 (claiming back gst) from the good guys been the best phone deal.

        • +1

Note 4 is a great phone, except that it's too big for most people. G3 was a stretch for me and I can't see myself using anything bigger.

        • @billy_bob:

Sizewise I thought they were pretty similar, the Note is slightly taller. I personally would prefer a 5 inch screen over these 5.5+ one's too though.

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xW3j76JxMDU

The s808 doesn't seem like much of an upgrade to the s805. Certainly a better upgrade over the 801.

The common complaint with the G3 was it's laggy UI and poor battery life. That's the problem with these QHD devices, I don't think the s801 was powerful enough for to push the extra pixels of the screen. Personally I think it's well worth a couple of hundred bucks for a better SoC, better screen, better camera etc. Some people are happy with 3-4 hours SOT and don't really notice the laggy UI or they use custom ROM, each to their own.

        • @Ronnnie:
          Note 4: 153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5 mm, 176 grams
          LG G3: 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9 mm, 149 grams
So the extra height and width doesn't sound like much on paper, but it FEELS much bigger in the hand…….

        • @billy_bob:
Well that your subjective opinion. I've compared both and it surprised me how close they were in size. I always thought the Note 4 was way bigger. If you are going to struggle with the size of the Note 4, I don't think the G3/G4 is any better. That's my opinion.

        • @Ronnnie:

I can't speak for anyone else, but if a custom rom meant losing the knock code and camera app from LG, I wouldn't go there.

  • +1

Really want this but at the same time want the 815T version and a leather back

  • Does this version work with all Autralian LTE bands?

    • yes but optus have a 2300 band which offers 4g+(?) but you'll get 4g on optus nonetheless

After having many issues with my LG Nexus 5, I will never buy a LG phone ever again.

    • I wont buy another cheap nexus phone after having had the nexus 5 but if you look at reviews on the g3 vs the nexus 5 the g3 sounded like a much better product. I think the nexus 5 was just too cheap, too good to be true.
I refuse to pay to be a beta tester.

      • Not really a beta product. The Nexus 5 was a platform for vanilla Android to operate on and at the same time be super affordable. It never was intended to be a high end phone and compete with the likes of the G3, S5, Z2 etc…

    • +1

What problems did you have with the N5? It's the best phone I've ever owned. I love mine.

      • -1

gps always dropping out, plastic cracked around the button areas, app crashes, random restarts, doesn't pick up all wifi channels.. i got mine from mobileciti in parramatta, was advertised as australian stock, when logging a support call, they get you to go to evertech, who then have to repair the phone, however the phone wasn't actually australian stock, so when you get to evertech, they tell you they cant repair it because its actually NZ stock.. never bothered sending it for warranty, i just sold it off.. piece of crap..

        • No such thing as Australian stock Nexus devices… they're all sold by Google Singapore if you buy from playstore.

All stock is imported stock. Even NZ's stock is imported.

        • when I got it from mobile citi parramatta, they said it was australian stock..

Just pulled the trigger on the G4. I hope the camera is good as the IPhone.

    • I've got the G4 and I'd say the G4's camera is better under all conditions than the iPhone. The iPhone pumps out better sound to your headphones though. I've never found an Android phone with good sound out of the box. You need to get a third party sound equalizer app. The G4 is not rooted yet either.

  • Should i pick this phone instead of the Samsung Galaxy S6?

    • That's what I did. Getting tired of Samsung. The difference between flag ship phones is so narrow, not worth paying extra for it.

    • That's what I wanted to ask too. There are pros and cons for each. The major pros being removable battery and expandable memory for G4, also cheaper. But I don't like the look of its UI. It looks very cyanogen and cheap. S6 looks sleeker.

      • This is such a tough pick when they only have a $30 price difference.

        • What size do you prefer? 5.1 or 5.5 phablet?

For me I like capacitive touch buttons. I don't like on screen buttons.

        • @lostn: My current phone is the nexus 4. I think both sizes are suitable for me.

        • @farnkie: Nexus 4 is like an iPhone 6 size, and the LG G4 is a 6+ size. There's quite a noticeable difference when looked at from side to side.

I've heard the s808 is only marginally faster than last year's s805, so maybe the S6 is a bigger leap. The weaker s808 was chosen in place of the s810 that M9 and earlier phones used because of overheating issues. It's technically a downgrade from earlier phones.

If you need expandable storage, get the G4, otherwise I think the S6 edges it out.

Another consideration is that S6 requires nano sim and G4 micro sim. Mine is a microsim which I cut from a mini sim. I don't want to put it through a nano cutter (which I don't own) so I'd have to pay my provider $20 for a new sim. Not happy.

  • Does anyone have an idea how quick Kogan tends to be with deliveries from HK?

    • +2

My G4 took 4 days but I missed the delivery so now I have to reshedule the redelivery for Monday :(

      They use Toll Priority.

      • +1

thanks Manh. Thinking of getting one but I'm overseas in a few weeks. :)

      • +1

With Dick smiths, they drop it off at the nearest newsagent for missed deliveries.

        • I was hoping they'd do that automatically as well, but with Toll Priority, you have have to use the missed delivery card and tell them what you want to do via the printed website. And if you do it after 7pm (which happened to me in this case) you'll miss tomorrows redelivery.

So my Thursday's missed delivery was compounded with missing Friday's delivery window. I could've been playing with my new phone by now and throughout the weekend :(

  • Announcement today that the LG G4 in the UK will skip 5.1.1 and go straight to Android M. Good news!

I bit the bullet and ordered one :)

  • The one with the leather case, which is about $30 more, is still available. I'm just having trouble with PayPal!

  • Are eBay purchases still covered under Kogan warranty?

And do the leather options come with a spare plastic back?

  • Just wondering if your phones showing shipped as i placed order friday and still not shipped.

  • I've had an email this evening confirming my order, saying it has been processed and will ship soon.

  • Still not shipped

    • I got an email that it was shipped yesterday the 5th and I got it that afternoon checked the tracking it had actually left Hong Kong on the 3rd

  • Got my one on thursday in perth. Also come with headphones

  • Been 10 days now and it still has not shipped… Ordered on the 29/6.

    • That's odd… Try contacting them about the issue.

    • Finally got it. Came with a spare back and Quadbeat 3.
