Amazon are doing them for $650 USD (approx. $840 AUD) delivered. I spent about 30 seconds looking so cheaper places may exist.

Remember ours are Australia supplied and delivered and have a full 2 year Australian warranty. If you have any warranty issues you will have to ship them back to the US as local service agents will not touch them.

      • +1

$850 and they don't even offer an international warranty?

        • No they don't. These products are under licence and the warranty is covered only in the country of purchase. Like around 95% of all electronics.

    • So looks like the AU warranty costs $159 (or $858 at RRP). Wow … "Australia tax" …

Found an Australian one here for $89 (but different version)-

Nice, need to replace my Xiaomi Pistons

Massdrop had these recently shipping to Aus for around $800AUD

    • +2

Was very tempted to get them on Massdrop, looks like an even better deal given the price these are selling for.

I guess things like this are a wake up call to local sellers that we can't keep paying the "Australia" tax. Not saying I'm not for supporting local business, however it's same as online entertainment, Australians are happy to pay for services if they are reasonably (and competitively) priced.

Do these work for iphone 5s?

    • They will play on any mobile device. You just need a 3.5mm jack.

  • +2

US 599 at headphone.com. They don't ship here but you could use a forwarding service and come in cheaper.

1000 bucks to listen to a MP3, wtf is wrong with people?

    • +2

People that buy these don't listen to MP3's. They listen to one of the many lossless formats. That's the problem with most people these days. They wan't quantity over quality. They wouldn't have a clue what quality audio sounds like.

      • -6

Only people that are dumb enough to buy stuff like this are the iPeople and the ones who buy Monster cables in HN.

If they are as good as you say, why not stick to RRP?

        • +7

There are many different people out there who require different things.

Some people eat at Maccas, Others eat at Rockpool

Some people eat Spam, others eat Waygu

Some people drive suzuki, others drive Ferrari

Some people drink Jim Beam, others drink Pappy Van Winkle

Some people…….. you get the idea…

There is something for EVERYONE! Just because you may not be able to tell the difference, or just don't care, others do. That goes for almost everything in life.

          @JasonRio:

Better comparsion: Pay $999 for a $50 steak. This is ozbargain, not ozmoneywasters.

There have been blind test done and people can't reliably pick 320K MP3 / M4A over FLAC. I still try and use FLAC when possible. I like having lossless as it will give the best result if you need to transcode. But, Spotify Premium sounds pretty damn good on my Grado's ;-)

At least 12 people have bought them, based on the number of reviews on their site. Not sure what were they smoking.

    • Those reviews are compiled from Amazon and Head-Fi

      • Compiled, is that legalese for stolen?

If my house was worth 10M AUD, my weekday car was a Bentley and my weekend car was a Ferrari, I would have bought one for myself and a few as Xmas gifts for my family members and my friends… :)

    • Can I be your friend?

      • You want to be my friend if I was loaded?…. hmmm, that's no good friendship dude.. But if I was loaded and you've asked me nicely for one Fostex TH600, I might have considered.. ;)

  • wonder if Dr Dre uses these behind closed doors.. as for me the price turns me off.. music is music doesnt matter if its encoded 320kps or if its flac, lossless.. you would have to have serious ocd in music to get these…

    • +1

Music is music? I guess "The Empire strikes back" and "The Phanton Menace" Are both StarWars, so equil?
      heheh ;P

      • yep, music is music… you can play the same song thru some beats, bose, seinheiser and these fostex and its the same song at the end of the day. i know i would prefer listening to a pair of $300 cans than a $1000 pair anyday..

  • Well. 700 AUD rebate from something RRP 1700 AUD is no doubt a very good deal. But this 700 AUD rebate from a pair of headphones RRP 1700 AUD is a very good deal for "high class" people and not for "middle" and "low" class people. It might be 700 AUD rebate, but 1000 AUD for a pair of headphones is probably one of the MOST EXPENSIVE listed on Ozbargain ever.

    • Not really, I've seen HD800 posted, which was more expensive than this. If you think of being an audiophile as a hobby, it's a huge amount of investment for your hobby, but people do that sort of things for their hobbies. I am not saying that $1,000 headphone is something that people should buy, but I've seen people investing more on their hobby. It's not a spur of the moment thing for people to buy these as well.

I for example bought $400 headphone with $200 DAC/AMP combo (roughly speaking), I spent 6 months looking for the best deal, saving up for it etc etc to get that.

  • a grand for headphones, is this real life

    • Thug life ;-)

    • iLife

  • You might need a $10,000 amp to use this headphone! No use plugging this into a cheap $50 Chinese made phone.

I am trying to decipher this word: Piezonshito.

    Piezon shito
    Piez on shit o
    Piezo-n-shito
    Pie zon shito
    Piezons hito

What the bloody hell does it mean? Do I want this shito applied inside the housing?

  • i was just commenting about Massdrops shipping and warranty on another posts.

I bought a fostex th900 a while back from Massdrop and it became faulty. Warranty was a pain. Had to pay for shipping both ways. Took almost 3 months to get it replaced. Was out of pocket almost $100 on shipping charged. The cans cost over $1099 USD Plus $60 usd forwarder shipping + warranty shipping both ways of $100AUD + 3months without it from warranty. On the upside, still have them working flawlessly.
