Something like this one. Not too crazy, something I can leave in the car that would be better than my phone. Never looked into buying one before so not sure what the 'standard' go-to's are at the moment. Thanks for any help.
Looking for a decent GPS for car, any recommendations?

I personally prefer to use my phone. $$$ can be used for other stuff….
You can install Sygic or HERE.

I find the Garmin units to be very good. My family have three Garmins, all different models. The latest unit has much better spoken navigation that includes roadside features - "Turn left at the traffic lights" instead of "Turn left in 300 metres" - and voice control, where you can just speak the address to it. All this with a 5" screen for just $125 from JB HiFi.
The main opposition, Navman and Tom-Tom, also sell plenty of units, so they must have something going for them as well. I've never owned a Tom-Tom, and it's been years since I've owned a Navman.
Whatever you do, DO NOT buy a unit unless it comes with lifetime maps.
There's a few great apps for mobile if you considered it, you could use the $100+ on a dashcam instead.
Whats wrong with the FREE apps for phones and tablets?
