would you pls upload a photo of your stand? Got a steering wheel arriving and I find the stands rather expensive
Can do, but how do u upload photos on this site?
Just put it on imgur and link it.
I am also curious as to how you attached it to the work support! Here you are - the roller on the work support frame just pops out. Then Bolted some mdf to the bar. Then just use the table mount clamp on the wheel. I also cut/angle grinded the height adjustment rod so it would go lower.
The base has doormat on it for grip, but underneath it has two parallel pieces of wood for stability. The pedals are bolted to a laptop stand from ikea, which is cut down to fit pedals and in turn bolted to the wood. I used the rest of the laptop stand To bolt to the LHS as a foot rest to add stability to the structure - you can see it angle upwards in the pic.

Its easy if you are handy - only cost me about $40 all up as i had some jarrah floorboards laying around which i used. Its perfect for loungeroom use, and had made forza 5 pretty intense with all the driver assists turned off!

Wow, that's really impressive.@pointless comment:
that's awesome stuff dude. Unfortunately I am not as crafty :(I am waiting to see if anyone wants to get rid of a stand on Gumtree at some point
I did the same with this support frame.
The only problem with this is that it's not very stable.
Heavy FFB and heavy steering can cause the whole mount to move about a fair bit unless it's been bolted down.Try the two wood planks anchored to the frame by double sided tape, with a cross plank at the end closest to you - a 'U' shape - you can just see it from my pic. The footrest, coupled with either braking or accelerating holds it pretty firm for me. I use it on quite a thick rug, which would also help… Maybe try a yoga/gym mat or similar
If someone like me doesn't have a ~450 PS4 accessory pocket, I would suggest looking into the Thrustmaster T100. It is obviously not as good as this one, but at least i has got Force Feedback. I bought mine from Amazon France (it worked out about AUD 160) but the price has raised a bit since, but it would be worth checking other Amazon pages.
Good advice - i reckon that $450 is a joke - i too went for the cheaper model and plan to hold it until the dust settles and the prices drop in 12 months or so
Costs as much as an entire PS4!
that was exactly the way I reasoned its cost as well
as long as it has FFB, it is worth it, otherwise the Dualshock is better
If you're in the market for a wheel, Logitech will be releasing a new one which will be more reasonably priced. Something to weigh in the decision.
Just had a look, RRP of $399 USD so probabaly similar price to Thrustmaster after Australia tax
Apparently the exact same internals as the G27, just with updated buttons and mappings to function with the PS4.
Reviews also suggest the T300 has better FFB response.
dick selling the thrustmaster… hmm
(aren't there rules about this on ozbargain??)Slightly cheaper from Amazon.co.uk with a 2-4 week wait on delivery.

$450 is quite expensive…
haha youre paying this much and missing a clutch and gears
most modern performance cars dont have a clutch peddle so its not really a big deal. WRC & F1 are a couple of examples.
Do they still use gear stick or is it paddles just like on this wheel?
I guess you mean gearbox?
I bought a G27 back in the day because I wanted the 6 speed manual and clutch.. But I found that in the few games where it actually worked, it was pointless as there was no feedback in either the clutch or gearbox so was a very unauthentic experience, not to mention being slower than paddle shifters in churning out laptimes.
In GT6, the shifter can be used without the clutch so it's really pointless.
I'd assume using it on PC sims it'd be more realistic.Probably so. NFS Shift had a decent implementation, but without any resistance in the physical gearbox and no feel in the clutch for the friction point it felt silly.
The one thing I would have liked to try would have been the Forza series with a Fanatec setup… But not for approx $1k with everything!
there also the entry level xbox one wheel for $130

i got this one a few weeks ago and def happy for the price. Bolted it to a $25 work support from bunnings and was off and racing!

Beats paying $200 for a stand
