Around same time last year they had same deal and I preordered the Canon 24mm STM.
Weirdly enough the price was with the discount…even though it only processes on pickup (which was almost half a year later)
Any bargains?
It's a fair enough comment. 10% off isn't a deal itself. A list of the items cheaper than anywhere else would be good.
Thinking about getting the canon 70D but must wait for the ebay 20% sale this friday.
Do you know who would sell camera gear from the sellers on 20% off list? Kogan?
Good Guys and Dick Smith.
There is also a Good Guys $200 store credit deal running now and depends on how much you spend, the store credit can be a better deal than the ebay one.
Yes, Kogan and Good Guys
40-150 pro 2.8 for $1,391 is a pretty good price
http://www.digidirect.com.au/camera_lenses/olympus/micro_fou…
am planning to buy a general zoom lens for myself as an upgade for the kitlens.. is sigma 17-50mm F2.8 OS any good? or should i get a 50mm 1.8stm (however i do have 40mm pancake lens)
Sigma 17-50
Depends on what you want to do. I personally prefer the 40mm pancake over the 50mm, but either way, I wouldn't buy a 40mm and a 50mm for a beginner. Not sure if the sigma 17-50 is an 'upgrade' from your kit lens. Maybe save for what you really want to get into (Landscape, Portrait or Sports/Wildlife)
Sigma is a good walk around lens.. bit heavy but will solve your purpose of a general zoom lens.. of the 5 lenses I have, this stays on my camera 95% of the time..
Have you looked at the sigma 24-105mm
waayyy tooo heavy for me to carry
I've got a Sigma 17-70 - f/2.8-4
I love it
Same, its an awesome lens.
Unfortunately mine has a little squeak in it and can hunt for focus for a long time, I want to replace it with the same thing but just can't bring myself to with it working 90% of the time!
yep love my sigma 17-50 f2.8!
as for the 50mm stm.. it's Discount Cameras has it for $142.97 delivered (compared to digiDirect's $152 + $9.90 delivery). can vouch for these guys, delivery is very fast and they only sell aussie stock (i got my sigma 17-50 f2.8 from them for $343!)
Try sigma 18-35 f1.8
Fuji X-T1 $970 (after $200 cashback and 10%) temptation…
Go for it. You won't regret it.
Great little camera..grab it and the 35mm f1.4…Great combo
Now showing only $950!

Olympus E-M5 mk1 + 12-40mm for $1033. The 25mm for under 400 is also the cheapest I've seen lately.
FYI last time I ordered from their 10% sale I waited 6 months for my package to arrive.
That sucks. Last year I ordered a lens from them that was out of stock (which I knew), and it took 2-3 weeks to get there but I got the 10% off price so was happy
Was it a Sony? Same here… But generally very happy with digidirect.
Yeah.. I got the Sony18-105g.. took 2 months
For those who bought the Olympus OM-D E-M5 body only on sale the other week, you can get a really good lens from DigiDIRECT. The Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO Lens - Black. Was $861 now $775 - I think it's the cheapest by far.
http://www.digidirect.com.au/camera_lenses/olympus/micro_fou…
You can get the E-M5 AND the Pro Lens for $1033, making the body $258! Could sell the body for $350-$400 easy
http://www.digidirect.com.au/slr_cameras/olympus/olympus_om-…
I have seen the lens for around $800 but $25 is still $25 cheaper
Including the eBay and Paypal fees, you'll probably only be able to get $300 for the body. Plus price will drop even more when others try to off load the body on eBay. Might not be worth the trouble.
BEST DEAL CAMERA BAG

Bought 5 coz Leica
You need to pair those five with five of these.
http://www.digidirect.com.au/camera_lenses/leica/leica_nocti…
I've got one but hardly use it.
Got the same one in KL for $8 last month…
Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM Camera Lens for $3,599 - outstanding price for this lens.
http://www.digidirect.com.au/camera_lenses/canon/wide_angle_…
I always prefer 16-35 f/2.8L II. Meager minimum focal length difference, yet pay off at the faster speed - for half the price. Totally understand if you promote that lens just purely due to the discount rate.
I already have the 16-35L II. It's a great lens - very versatile and you can use relatively "cheap" filters.
Seems like an OK price for the Canon 5D MkIII local stock. $2963. http://www.digidirect.com.au/slr_cameras/canon/canon_eos_5d_…
too bad not travelling overseas anytime soon.
Nikon D7200 with 18-140 for 1487 is any good?
Cheapest I've seen the D7200 is $999. I'm pretty sure if I went into that store I could knock off another $50. I would rather get the body and purchase a different lens depending on what you like to shoot.
It's for body only.. I looking for body plus 18-140 mm lense as well. Any suggestion mate ?
well i am planning to buy a the sigma 17-50mm f2.8 so i would suggest buying the body and adding that.
any release why you want the 18-140?
Looking for a zoom lense
Two products being cheaper elsewhere does not warrant a negative vote.
So do I have to go through their price list and prove it?
It is so typical of digidirect. Rather than spending time to give customer a good price, just send its troops out to nag the hell out of criticism.
I will not be surprise if OP and admin lock me out from replying to this thread again, like the A7R discount thread.
I am simply pointing and make people aware of their sneaky strategy.
A few people above have pointed out bargains they've found/items interested in. Why not demonstrate lower prices for Australian stock of those items?
Just like any of the X% of at any store, there's likely to be bargains and things that can still be found cheaper elsewhere.
I am simply pointing and make people aware of their sneaky strategy.
But all you pointed out was two items. Like I said - does not warrant a negative vote. Normally deals won't get to 40 votes if there aren't ANY bargains to be had.
Please tell me your logic is a joke and may as well not do it.
You do realise it's the same situation with any other retail store out there when they have a sale. Most items are worth buying when on sale. There are some that are not. It always depends on what people want and need.
E.g Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 DI VC USD Lens (canon mount) is $943 @digidirect. compared to it's old price around $999+ or $1.1k at most retail stores even on sale. Cheapest on the market that I can find.
syswong has some sort of issue with Digidirect, and writes negative comments about them when possible here and on Whirlpool. I wouldn't take the rantings too seriously, but the links to items cheaper elsewhere might benefit someone wanting to buy those products.
Why wouldn't he? Digidirect usually jack their prices up conveniently whenever there's a sale.
Any evidence of that? I was monitoring a couple of items of interest to me, and all are now 10% cheaper than they were before the sale.
There are some deals to be had for sure while other items are cheaper elsewhere. Just need to do your homework (and ozbargain is helping with the homework).
Nikon lenses are good value with their cashbacks in there as well…
What do you guys recommend out of the follow:
sigma 17-50mm f2.8
tamron 17-50mm f2.8
sigma 18-35mm f1.8 Art Lens
I'm currently using a Nikon 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 on my D7100.
I generally only take photos when I'm holiday and i prefer to shoot landscapes and street art if i'm travelling to urban cities.
Sigma 17-50mm > Tamron 17-50
Chris Frost does a comparison —> https://youtu.be/T3UfbsdfUu8
Thanks mate, that video was awesome!
Def going to get the Sigma 17-50mm
Would love the sigma 17-35m art lens but dont have the money for that.
Ideally the Sigma 1.8 is the choice but people has been reported this lens need to be calibrated with Nikon body so make sure you are comfortable with that.
BTW if you are in Brisbane, Camera Pro is selling it cheaper.
Camera pro shows 1699 in their website. Btw I am in vic
Sigma 18 35 1.8 $710 @ camera pro
Sorry mate, replied to the wrong comment 😊
Maybe something wider like a Sigma 10-20mm f3.5?
Damn, I knew this might happen, I ordered/bought a lens three weeks ago for travel in mid-July, it took three weeks to come into stock so it wasn't worth the risk of waiting, but $107 extra savings, damn.
In a month's time you won't care… you'll be too busy enjoying your lens on your trip :)
Because I bought more than one lens they gave me free shipping. just use the chat icon and they give you a one off code. Only $16 saving but every bit helps!
Great price on the Rode smartLav+ microphone at $49
Next cheapest is Camera Warehouse for $57. Last time I looked (maybe a month ago) everyone was selling them for $64-$79.
These are a lavalier microphone (the small mic you might see cliped to a tie or lapel in documentaries or new broadcasts) - essentially a tiny condenser capsule on the end of a wire.
I've got a couple that I've used for backup audio with Android phones and, with a TRRS-TRS adapter, plugged into a Roland portable recorder and Sony A7S camera.
It should work with anything that has an external mic TRRS (or TRS with the adapter) input that can supply ~2.7V (not 24V or 48V phantom power).
Sound quality wise I find the mics good. Some reviews complain about the noise floor, but from my experience I reckon that is more an issue with the recording device's mic preamp and environment noise floor.
Build quality wise, solid Rode engineering. Australian company, Australian manufacturing. Great post-sales support and social media presence.
I never knew Rode was an Australian company. With Rode on the audio side, and Blackmagic and Atomos on the video side, Australia is making a really impressive contribution to the video market :)
We certainly have some world-class clever companies. Miller tripods is another Australian in this field.
Rode did a spell of manufacturing in China but took a hit with quality issues, so they moved it all back to Sydney: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfTfNcnQTqc
Haven't bought from digidirect before. Are they grey or Australian stock?
Australian stock. Stores in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Thanks.
Overnight prices seemed to have gone up? They have for the Nikon lens I was looking at, by $50!
Sweet price $1,400 is cheapest for new 7-14mm 2.8
http://www.digidirect.com.au/camera_lenses/olympus/super_pro…
should i buy from digidirect or discountcameras? dis count cameras has a slightly better price (50$ cheaper than digidirect)
On what item?
Discount Cameras! i've bought from them, very fast delivery and great service!
why wouldn't you want to save $50?
A month ago A7R can be have for under $1700
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/196066
Now with their so call 10% discount and a $500 rebate again they are selling $ 1,709.00
DigiDirect troopers feel free to nag this again.
BTW Camera didn't do any 10% sale sand still cheaper as of now….
Nikon D7200 body 999 (Camera house ) and 18-140 mm lense 388 (JB) look like a good deal ??
Excludes pre-orders.
Looks like no A7r2 for me.
