It's pretty embarrassing that my best deal lately has been on nappies! BabyLove have nappies for about $16 per bag (approx 40 nappies depending on size) but Woolworths had a red-spot special a year ago where they were $6.60 per bag.

Being such a great deal, they were constantly out of stock. Which was GREAT because I could get a raincheck for them. The conditions of the raincheck was a maximum of 6 bags, 1 raincheck per person/day/store and valid for 12 months.

So each day for a week I drove around to all the Woolies within my town (there are 7) and each day got a raincheck for 6 bags. My partner even picked up a few that week.

I ended up with over 50 rainchecks at 6 bags each. They have lasted us the whole year and saved us heaps. Each time I need nappies I just pop to one of the stores and use one of the rainchecks. I haven't found them cheaper than that since.

    • Amazing. I didn't even know you can do rainchecks at Woolworths. I thought all promotions would be while stocks last.

      • I didn't know this either. Even Coles gives rainchecks. Got one for the half price SunRice Basmati rice bags.

      • Coles rainchecks are only thirty days, garbage

Woolies do for twelve months !!!!

As a media mogul for one of Australia's largest media/entertainment organisations, it allows me the opportunity to donate to certain political parties and invest in the best and brightest tax lawyers. The benefits of these are two-fold: minimize my tax rate to practically impossible levels (or in the case of plebeians, literally impossible) and to implement new laws or to modify existing laws so that they are favorable to my company and I. My greatest achievement in recent times is that my private company receives financial subsidies from the Government equal to, if not more than, the publicly funded ABC, my greatest competitor. The nice thing about this is that when the peasants rabble on about "The ABC is biased and is a waste of taxpayer's money!", this argument doesn't apply to me because the ABC is publicly owned while my company is private, even if essentially I am directly or indirectly receiving taxpayer funds. Gotta love that free market capitalism! Another advantage is that since my company is private, I have no requirement to make my media look unbiased, and the public does not expect my company to be unbiased. They lap it up anyway. Anyway I gotta go to my private jet and have a chat with my best friend. You might have heard of her: she owns a mining company and like most of you here, she loves a good Australian bargain (or $2 a day African labour bargain). I'll be sure to let her know about this thread, if there's one person who isn't me that knows how to take advantage of legal loopholes, she's the one!

Just as a question, do you have anything better to do with your time? o-o

      • Yes I do actually, that's why I replied to your past 1 month later. Every day is a busy day when you're a media mogul.

I loved the Spirit Airlines trick of slowly adjusting a "mis-spelt" name over several calls into a whole new name. Ironic that one of my biggest annoyances is that call operators never take down proper notes from previous calls.

  • never saying sorry and answering most of their questions with either a question or "i dont know" when you get pulled over by the police for speeding.

i remember the old eventcinemas online booking site that took the "Rydges" code so you pay $10 per film. Not sure if that was intentional or not, if not it was a nice loophole while it lasted. I used that a LOT! =)

I loved the Manchester United online store glitch last year that was selling everything at 60% off https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/153977

Other than that, when i last bought a Subaru i found out that all dealerships within 30 Km of the CBD in every state are owned by the same franchise (inchcape). To get a competitive price you need to go to a dealer 30 km+ outside the CBD. I was a bit dubious but found that in Melbourne at least there were 2 dealers at the 31Km ish mark (Lilydale and Frankston). Both were independent and both much cheaper than those closer in.

When applying for a blue card online you have to answer a bunch of these mundane easy but brain numbing work safety questions, so I looked at the webpage's source code….. all the answers were embedded inside some javascript.
I Ended up saving a decent amount of time.

Trading in games towards a preorder at EB and paying the remainder in cash lets you return the game and get it all back in cash. I started a mini trading empire using JB's 3-for-1 trade in deal and EB's high trade in prices which was $100+ for some games like Blacks Ops 1.

    • Buy 3 cheap $5-15 games not on the exclusion list at JB.
    • Trade for new game.
    • Trade new game to EB for $80-$100+
    • Put $100 on preorder.
    • Pay remainder in cash.
    • Pick up game.
    • Return game for cash.

This lasted from 2010 to 2012 and made at least $2000 from it. I like to think I am the reason why we have the EB world cards. Nowadays trade in prices for new games at EB is ~$40.

    • I used this system a lot as well. It ended early 2012; I remember Gears of War 3 was the last major release I was able to trade-in towards, using some cheapo Kinect games on special at KMart. Ah, those were the days…

Back when the slim PS3 came out I was intent of buying one, and found that fishpond had them very cheap, but always out of stock, which meant you couldn't add them to your cart. However you could still add them to your "wishlist" and then add your wishlist to your cart and checkout. I assumed they would just give me a refund but a couple weeks later BAM, a brand new ps3 at my door.

  • With the two investment properties I own, I spray painted horrifically offensive (racist) remarks onto the front fence and the councils were forced to paint them to remove the words

    • That's pretty good! Forcing them to use taxpayers money! Then again I wonder what else the council crews would be doing instead..
