Z-Wave in-Wall Switch Controller 50% OFF - $42.5 + DELIVERY @ SmartHomePro

40

Not sure how long this deal goes for.

This is the best price I've seen. I've purchase a few for myself.

Here's the product's description:

The invisible solution to lighting and appliance control. The in-wall micro switch wires in your wall space or behind an existing switch or power point, allowing manual and remote control, and full automation. It allows you to make your home's appliances perform exactly as you want them to, when you want them to. And it does so inconspicuously.

  • Looks pretty cheap for Z-wave. Pity the gateway costs a bit.

    • Yes, they seem to be quite useless by themselves.
Also, I doubt they will work with standard Australian wiring. We don't normally have a neutral at the light switch, so you'd need to rewire.

      • Some houses do. One of my friend's houses has a Wemo switch installed. They require a neutral too.

If rewiring is needed then it's definitely not worth it. :(

  • +1

    Sorry not clear:
    What are they? Usage examples?
Easy to install without calling professional?
How many items in one house (minimum) are required?

    • You need to have a central unit too (which is the expensive part). This is just a single module that talks to the main unit.

  • You'd want to very carefully research if these were legal to connect.

Certainly cannot be installed without an electrical licence, and some electricians would not sign off on it unless it was properly tested and certified.

Not the same product, but same issue discussed on this Whirlpool thread:

I have posted in there - maybe you can work out who I am :-)

    • Of course, any electrical wiring, you'll need a licensed installer. It is a common sense and should you choose NOT to use the service, you're doing so at your own risk.

I've installed a few devices 3 years ago and they work fine until now. My sparky was happy to install them.

  • I have a router with z-wave in it which I have never used for this purpose so I don't know much but I do know z-wave has a different frequency for Australia (had to specify when ordering) so if this is an import will it work with aussie devices?

So after being lazy I did some googling..
"Z-Wave operates on a low radio frequency (921.42 in Australia and New Zealand) which means no interference from other wireless devices in your home, while its device encryption also ensures no interference from nearby Z-Wave systems"

The site states it is 921.42 so its OK.

  • Has anyone got these Aeon ones to work? I have a few of these that refuse to do anything. My Fibaro ones work flawlessly..

  • Just for those in my situation, note that it appears this won't work with the smartthings hub, as the hub operates at 900mhz, not 921mhz.

  • AVOID. These guys don't offer PayPal and reviews of their smarthomepro.com.au and smarthome.com.au websites are not very favourable. Good prices but you may be buying into a big headache http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2249480
