Seems this is the el-cheapo laptop of choice for OzBargainers, and what a great price. Plenty of stock around the country with free Click & Collect. Apply coupon EOFY15 at checkout. Screenshot here. Pay $9.95 for postage if you prefer. Good luck :)

How much does it normally sell for
Appears that the RRP is $299 ?
Is this the same one that was $199 ?
jv you've done it again
Can you increase the ram on this?
Do you want to know if TA can ???
This is not the notebooks you are looking for.
This one has the crap CPU. Wait for the one with the better CPU to come on special again for around the same price.
Apt comment judging by your username.
Just realised I messed up the quote. It should have been "These are not the notebooks you are looking for".
Can the ram be upgraded?
yes yes yes read the many other threads on these 2 laptops
C2TL is Dual core
C1WD is Quad core
I purchased it for $122 last week.
Why would you tell us that. Waiting till price drops to $121.
care to tell us how?
inb4 "I bought it used off some guy in an alleyway"
I bought it as part of Ebay Group deal. The advertised price was $269. Here is the breakdown:
20% off Ebay voucher = Price reduced to $215.2
$39 cashback from Acer and 2% from cashreward= Price reduced to $170.82
$50 voucher from Ebay for spending more than $200 on selected retailers= Price reduced to $120.82It wasn't actually $121.
It was an effective $121 assuming you spent the $50 ebay voucher within a 30 day period, which started several weeks later.
That was an ebay special discount deal yeah??
It was an amazing deal. I bought too, cheap as chips :)
Anyone know how to change the Wifi card on these things?
Is it just a swap with the card? Do you have to change the antennas?
You unscrew the bottom 15 or 16 screws from memory which gives you access to the main board.
There you'll find the WiFi card held in place with 1 screw and the 2 antennas wires (black and yellow as I recall) that just pop off.
I bought the quad core version 2 weeks ago. It was so slow, even after I upgraded to 8GB and SSD. To install a clean version of Windows 8.1 was a pain, cloning probably works better. Personally I'll pay more to get a decent processor.
Saying the quad core model is slow depends what you compare it to. I have various laptops/ultrabboks with Pentium B970, i3 & i5's and for what most of us pay for that model, below $300 and closer to $200 after cash back, not a lot get's close.
Even stock standard with 2GB ram/ 500GB HHD/ and all bloat onboard this booted up within seconds of an Acer V5 with an i3/ SSD/ 8GB ram.
The fact that these are easily upgradable to 4GB/ 8GB ram and SSD/ Windows 10 is just a big bonus.
And for the price, these are nice and compact, thin and reasonably light ( 1.8kg. ).Always good to compare apples with apples.
Like I said, it's a matter of personal choice, so no need for negs please.
I ended up getting a second hand i5 (an old model that is), using the SSD i bought earlier, and ended up with a smile (with less than $300 as well)
Fair call. Tried to re-neg vote, but over an hour, so too late now. I just thought that comment could put some people off a decent bargain. For people with not much computer knowledge, this new unit with warranty could be a safe purchase. For people with more time and who know what their looking @, there are many second hand bargains such as your i5 ( I love the older and current full voltage 13's and i5's too, but the slower u series are not so fast too ) to be bagged. Happy computing.
@ozhunter68:
Understood. You are right, this is a bargain for the price (the quad core even better) with the warranty, genuine windows (with Bing), and if you don't really need to do heavy computing.I even bought it myself in the first place.
I prefer the faster version with the quad core over this, but this would have a longer battery life suiting some.
Just had a look at the battery on this model is a 2500mHa compared to a 2350mHa unit in the ES1-411-C1WD, that would explain why this is a bit higher in the back and a little heavier too. Couple that with the more efficient N2840 Celeron D/C and you should achieve good battery stamina great for students and travellers at the cost of lower performance.
When upping ram to at least 4GB and slipping in SSD, this will work well for some, especially for the price.
The Quad Core one from JB on last deal is better.
