iPrimus Broadband and Home Phone Bundle $69.90 Per Month

100

This deal is probably more so targeted at Telstra Line customers but i find it to be quite competitive.

What you get:

300GB ADSL2+ Broadband Anytime Data. (It says 150GB Peak and 150GB Offpeak but when you call it's actually 300GB anytime data.)
Home Phone Line
Unlimited Standard, National and Mobile Calls.
All this for only $69.90 a month

24 Month Contract and $0 Setup fee.
13/1300 Calls - 38.5c Per call
For an Extra $10 month Unlimited International calls to selected destinations.

Bonus Offers:
7" Pendo Tablet ($24.90 P/H fee applies, so it's only just worth ordering really.)
Minimum $50 Sign up credit taken off your second bill. (make sure you ask about this)
If you use a referral number you might be able to get an additional $50 off. I called yesterday and they said both the referrer and referral get a $50 Credit. (see above for my referral ID)

The $50 sign up bonus is meant to be an online offer, however when i called up the lady offered me $60 instead of $50 so it might be possible to negotiate more.

In regards to some of the comments - This is a deal for people who are in a Regional Zone and only have access to Telstra Lines.

My Referral ID - 31817516 (Quote this when calling and we should hopefully both each get a $50 refer a friend credit on top of the $50 sign up bonus.) Feel free to private message me if you do, so i can chase it up on my end as well and make sure we are both credited.)

Sounds like you're just trying to get referral credit tbh.

Is this Telstra DSLM applicable, or only for iPrimus DSLAMs? If the later it is nothing special. If it is Telstra exchanges, then it's not bad. But considering the iPrimus Whirlpool forums I would be somewhat wary. There is a lot of "Well i'm off to the TIO" comments in there, particularly in relation to billing issues.

    • Not really. Do you have a better deal for people only on Telstra Lines?

Edit - This is the best deal you can get if you are in a Regional Zone and can only access Telstra which is my situation.

      • Exetel, $58 per month but $10 more on Telstra wholesale iirc. So $68 a month. Includes phone, but usage is $10 more a month. But it provides 1TB rather than 300GB of data. Just as crappy company as iPrimus mind you.

        • With Exetel culling "high" users (and just users out of contract) in the past few weeks, it's highly questionable whether Exetel 1Tb actually is much better than a 300Gb plan.

  • +1

Just signed up to Spintel. Unlimited plus phone $55/mth no contract. Hoping I get good speeds when its connected!

    • +1

I probably should of mentioned, i'm in a Regional Zone.

    • For Spintel, add $20 for unlimited land-line calls. Optus exchange only.
So similar cost, except no setup fee or contract term, beyond 30 days notice.

I won't post my referral here :-) - I think you need to request them with your name anyway, not just use a code.

      i'm in a Regional Zone.

Then a good price, assuming you make lots of land-line calls.

      • Regional with spintel (Tesltra Line):

200GB, Unlimited Local, National and Mobile
        Phone Line Rental
        = $104.95 / Month.

        • -1

You can get Telstra phone line rental for 23$ a month and tpg $49 a month for 500gb data or 59$ a month for unlimited. Works out better.

        • +1

          @HandsomeMonkey:
They dont offer these prices for regional service though on Telstra infrastructure.

        • -1

          @Gravy:

I rang up Telstra to have the phone line activated. Then I rang up TPG and they said that if there is an active phone line. I should be able to get ADSL2+ installed. BTW I live in Yirrkala (considered to be very remote).

        • @HandsomeMonkey: But does it include unlimited local, national and mobile calls?

        • +1

          @HandsomeMonkey:

You can get ADSL2+ on Telstra infrastructure, but you have to go on a TPG "Offnet" plan if TPG dont have their own infrastructure in your local exchange. http://www.tpg.com.au/products_services/broadband-offnet

        • @escimojoe:

Its only to activate the line for adsl connection. You'll have to pay more for all that.

        • @Gravy:

Maybe, I have no idea. I will call TPG once my line is activated. The reason why I want to go with TPG is because of their short 6 months contract. Whereas Telstra expect a $120 on the top of the $90+ per month for a no contract for the first month.

        • @HandsomeMonkey:

YOu can use the "Check availability" link on TPG's homepage and it will tell you what services are available to you based on your address or current number, but if you are regional its very likely you will need to apply for "offnet" and those are more expensive unfortunately.

I'm in the market for a new provider after Exetel's gone and screwed their customers over.

I'll check these guys out and use your referral code if it works out well.

    Thanks OP!

    • I am also with exetel on a regional telstra line but I didn't get the email to change plans, but I am still looking to change to a new provider because exetel speeds have been shocking at peak times lately. I can't even use youtube or twitch between 4pm-11pm because the speeds are so slow.

      • Yeah I'd definitely be going elsewhere. I just don't know how good the quality is with iPrimus so not sure if i should just bite the bullet and give them a go.

24mths is a long time though if they are terrible!?

        • 24 months is a long time indeed. I was with Spintel and speeds have been shocking. As videoman said can't even stream youtube. It is impossible to get worse, and so far so good. (Only been with iprimus for a week now but it seems to be going fine.)

I believe if you ever want to cancel there is a $300 Cancellation fee maximum or $12.50/month for the remainder of your contract. Something alone those lines. Or a complaint to the ombudsmen would make it even cheaper i'm sure.

I just did a speed test out of curiosity. I was getting 2-4 Mbps with Spintel (Not even joking.) I just tried it now and i'm getting 12-13Mbps with upload of 1.0. It is a Saturday though, i'll have a more accurate reading come the Weekday.

    • same boat… this deal looks not too bad from first look. Im regional too so choices are getting pretty slim.

    • +1

      Woah!
I just went back and read the email from exetel - I thought it was just another monthly statement. Shafted, $20 a month more for a worse plan.

I've been with them for 7 years, used to have mobile phone with them as well, but they did some changes even dodgier than this. But stuck with the broadband because there were no better deals for people on Telstra infrastructure and I was very happy with the speed. This is clearly better, and with my optus Netflix credit we've been coming close to our 100gb monthly limit, hope the speed stays the same.

      Thanks OP

Now what to do about those exemail email addresses I've used for so many account sign ups?

      • +1
      • They are forcing plan changes again? I havent had the email so far… didnt get one when they did it last time around either. fingers crossed. I'm still finding exetel OK for my uses.

        • Nor have I… Can't work it out. I tick all the boxes to be booted..
Out of Contract, on Telstra $30/100Gb Plan and use at 50Gb+ per month during Peak usage time on Netflix.
Hopefully we've dodged this bullet cause there's nothing that comes close!

I'm with iprimus - have been for 5 years now.

They are not the best internet provider. They've given me a few issues. But overall I'm happy with their service. They've always fixed their problems. Their prices have always been good for what we want too.

    Just FYI for people interested.

If you expect first class customer service from australia don't go with them. If you know a bit about the internet and computers they should be fine.

    • Thanks, Treeman! I fairly computer savy. Are you regional or metro? I'll be connecting regional.

Have you had issues with speeds?

      • I'm metro. I have had ADSL2+ and now I have NBN with them.

Their speeds have always been fine for me.

I'm on the lowest NBN plan and 98% of the time my speeds are at the level they are meant to be.

  • I wish i could neg this deal due to the fact at how bad customer service ive received from iprimus.

  • +1

Just signed up. Thanks used you as a referral

    • Thanks mate. Glad someone sees the deal here :)

  • This isn't that cheap. Exetel do unlimited for $59 with line rental. I guess it's ok if ur stuck on Telstra exchange

    • More like $79/month if you include unlimited local, national and mobile calls, and that's not even their regional pricing.

      • For most of us that live in the burbs Exetel is way better value cos u get unlimited data and they are top 5 Netflix for speed. Iprimus doesn't really compare. I used to be on iprimus and their speeds were terrible. It would suck having to be stuck with these guys for 24 months. I second Spintels $55 month to month plan

        • Have you checked your email lately Gavman? Lots of people from exetel have been forced to change plans- http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2415309

        • I heard for those on 40$ 100g plans. It's sucks but where else u gonna go to get same. Their $58 1tb deal next to spintel is the best going around.

        • +1

@Gavman: I was on exetel $69/mth 500gb plan (including $20/mth line rental) and then they decided to email me and say "here you go loyal customer, we are going to change you to our 50gb peak/ 50gb off peak plan and up the price to $79/mth"… Umm no thanks! I will never go back to Exetel after this. When I called up Exetel the person I spoke to was rude and arrogant. I think I was one of many that day that called (I called right near closing time) and she may have had enough, but still no way to speak to a customer of almost 10years!

I ended up going with this iPrimus deal. I don't really need the free local/nation and mobile calls as I already have it with my mobile plan but it seems to be the best value for money!

          Thanks OP!

        • fair enough, they shouldn't have done that however it's probably cos their cost went up otherwise it makes no sense to piss customers off to be greedy. And ur right to leave. I never challenged the deal for regional residents. Good luck with iprimus

  • Would considered if it was 500gb 300 is a little to low for me

  • anyone got a model number for the "free" pendopad ?

  • Aww! I thought this deal applied for me.

I'm a cranky exetel customer on regional Telstra infrastructure, I read this deal and thought beauty I'm outa here, iprimus here I come.

But $69.90 seems to be the metro price (and maybe some regional areas - I'm not really sure what a "regional area" is in this context). Availability check for me shows I'm in zone 2 and offers me 300gb for 79.95 if I bundle the phone for another 29 a month, oh well…

    • +2

I'm zone 3 and i qualified? Call up and ask. You'll find that you will still get it at 69.90

      • Thanks Tuhan, I'll give it a shot.

  • Has anyone had any success in negotiating a bigger download limit bundle plan? 300gb just isn't enough for me and I would be willing to pay more for a bigger download limit bundle.

    • Nope didn't try to be honest as 300gb is heaps for me. Give them a a call wait time isn't that bad. I'm sure you could upgrade for extra. good thing about this plan is speed is shaped. no excess usage charges.

  • Great deal. Im a regional Exetel customer about to get screwed over with the new extortionate exetel prices. I'm changing to this. I've done some research and this is the best moderate data plan for regional adsl 2 users. Just posted in the nick of time as well- thank you.

    • My pleasure. Don't forget to ask for sign up credit and referral bonus. making it even better value.

  • How have people found iprimus that have made the switch, I am at the end of my contract with Beagle Internet and I have found them pretty good especially in customer service but this deal is $10 cheaper and has calls included (not that we really use it) so am considering making the switch but don't need an ISP that is issue prone. Also wanting to confirm that people are being accepted to the offer who aren't metro as stated in their ads (I am regional 2).

    • +1

So far so good. I'm regional and was accepted. Speeds are generally faster than my previous speeds with spintel. Still have the occasional periods where speeds are slowish during peak times. I guess there isn't much that can be done about that. To many people not enough infrastructure.

    • +1

Yes I can also vouch for them! I officially churned over 2 weeks ago and speeds have been fantastic! Most notably during peak times. With Exetel, I was slowing down big time (max download 200kb/s) during peak times, when I would normally get up to 1.5mg/s download all other times… With iPrimus my peak time downloads maintain above 1mg/s. very happy customer right here! Not to mention the sign up bonus ($70) and referral bonuses.. basically gave me my first 3 months free!!

  • Just wondering if anyone used me as a referral by any chance? If you could kindly PM me or let me know so i could chase it up on my end to make sure they credit me. Thanks :)
