Olympus OM-D E-M1 12-40 $1645.95 ($1613 Via CR) (+Bonus Grip & Battery Via Redemption) - eBay Teds

110

Hey all,

long time lurker first time poster. Couldnt jump on board earlier CameraPro deal due to travelling too late to get TRS. However, saw this come up through Ted's GST free sale and decided to bite. And share. Because I care. For the love others have provided through Cree Torches.

Was tossing up between the two (M1 and M5 Mk II) but decided to go M5 Mk II to upgrade from an old M5 I purchased earlier on ebay a year back. The Electronic shutter, Variangle screen (as I've been told my awkwardness at work is almost poetic. They stressed the word "almost") and improved FPS modes for movie recording sealed the deal.

Also,
E-M5 Mark II (Body Only) is $1090.95 ($1069.33 via CR* 2% cash back) - $962 after TRS - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Olympus-OMD-E-M5-MKII-Body-Si…
E-M5 Mark II (12-50 Kit) is $1281.95 ($1256.51 via CR* 2% cash back) - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Olympus-OMD-E-M5-MKii-12-50mm…

Enjoy. Let me know if I fessed up and posting deets.

  • The M5 Mk2 with an Olympus 45mm 1.8 in high resolution mode is … simply … amazing! .. I'm still blown away at the level of detail this thing captures.

    • +1

have you tried using this for moving objects (for e.g smoke/waves/mexican waves/ears of wheat swaying in the wind) and been able to capture it with the HR mode? Or does it blur away? Not sure how the multiple picture rendition goes with multiple shots. But I'm gonna give it a shot with the panny leica 25mm

      • Depending how much you've zoomed in or how close your camera is, even half a millimeter of movement is enough to ruin the shot - in the case of one test shot I did, I'd say 1/30th mm of movement would have been enough to ruin the shot.

The high resolution mode is designed for still shots and the examples you've provided are best suited to a full frame sensor like in the new Canon or Sony's (50mp).. Of course will all the money we have saved using ozbargain we can all now afford to buy something like this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1093267-REG/mamiya_020… —- irony that because of ozbargain site I have spent much more had I not run into it….

There are plenty of examples photos on the net available of 40mp vs 16mp from the same sensor and based on what I saw I went ahead with my purchase and after doing my own tests I have no regrets even with the limitations the camera has - no camera is perfect but this one is pretty sweet.

      • If shooting RAW, the first of the shots will also be saved - so you can layer in photoshop and remove movement artefacts if they are small/localised.

  • Has anyone ever got a further 5% off with RACV?

  • The E-M1 12-40 is $55 more expensive than camerapro's OZOMD$100 coupon, but the E-M5 II 12-50 is $217 cheaper. Shame, cos I'm after the em1 for the grip. Good find OP.
