Vax 1350W Dual V Advance Carpet Washer and Hard Floor Cleaner $99 @ Bunnings

400

Saw this advertised in the Melbourne Herald Sun today and is available Australia wide.

I have only found one similar deal having been posted on ozbargain before.

This looks the be the equivalent model selling on Amazon UK for just under $500 AUD with plenty of reviews to give you a guiding hand.

I bought the Pet vax vax cleaner off here 12 months ago that had a rec retail of $500, everyone said it was great and its rubish! supposed to be as good as a dyson, its very cheap and nasty. Terrible seals and filters. If this one is any better id be suprised. Pay the money, there is a reason these are cheap. Wife and i both agree that is looks and feels like a crazy clarks type quality.

    • +1

Seems to have good reviews online….

      • +9

are you sure that when the online reviews said "this really sucks" they actually meant it the other way?

        • Yeh seems I was looking at another model. Can you post the reviews you have found?

    • +1

Yeah I suppose different models get different reviews. But one bad model in the range does not make an entire range bad.

The people in this deal were prepared to pay 2.5 times more and no warranty to purchase a similar overseas model.

And as mentioned HN were at one stage were selling this for $348. Just because Bunnings are selling it for $99 doesn't mean the product is any inferior to when it was selling at $348.

      • Is that the same model though, looks a bit different.

        • +1

No, not the same, but can't find much to compare it with. But it would be good to hear from the people that purchased the one from Amazon UK for some reviews. For example, Is it easy to use? Messy? Does it clean well? etc

        • Actually, here is the newer model than the one in the previous deal http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vax-W87-DV-B-Advance-Upright-Upholst…

Looks the same as the Bunnings one and plenty of good reviews

    • +1

I'm sure a Dyson product is better made/function, but multiple times more money. Not every one can/wants to spend so much on a vacuum cleaner, let alone a carpet washer. It does also come with a two year warranty for peace of mind.

    • +1

Dysons are not as good as people say they are, they are very expensive, not that hygienic, and no where near as good as a (made in Germany) Miele for suction power. That is IMO…

      • Those Mieles are good, probably the best thing they make, but Ozbargain erstwhile hate paying for bags and filters! (like most others also)

  • Also keep in mind that this is not your regular Vacuum Cleaner, it's a Carpet Washer and Hard Floor Cleaner.
So, for a bit more than the cost of hiring a Carpet Cleaner over 24 hrs., you get this to keep using every few
months or so. It also has a 2 yr. warranty, so can't be too bad a build quality.

Even if you only got 2 good years service out of this, well worth the savings and convenience over hiring for families with small kids ( or big messy kids :-).

    • I tend to agree, but want to hear detailed feedback on what users think

    • Is the hard floor cleaner only meant for tiles? I can't see myself using water on spotted gum :/

      Just seen the comment below

  • What does it mean by hard floor cleaner?

I have bamboo floors which you can't use to much water on, is this ok for them?

    • Sealed floors is what it's recommended for

  • -1

I have one of these and it's not very good. Wouldn't recommend it.

    • +1

      Can you elaborate?

      • +2

Plenty of reviews here on Amazon. Some good, some not so good, but more good reviews than bad. They are also paying almost 5 times the price. I'm going to pay with a credit card which gives an extra 1 year warranty. So for $99 and 3 year warranty I'm more than happy to give this a try. Bunnings are generally very good with warranty issues.

  • +4

Britain/USA - 6 year warranty… Australia 2 year warranty. Rough end of the pineapple again…

    • +1

Extra warranty built into the price

  • No stock at Noarlunga/Marion SA bunnings.

  • None in WA

    • Did you call each and every store

      • Only available at the Armadale store in WA apparently - something to do with licensing according to the guy I spoke to. Armadale store didnt have any.

        • I did see Armadale come up on there site for this but thought it was the one in vic, strange that most other stores in other states have it but none here or even the store who is supposed to have it annoying as need one of these

        • Only 4 allocated to WA apparently. No more to come.

  • +1

Bought one from Southport store - about 10 more in stock. Seems to do a decent job. The water it picked up was almost black!

    • How does it work on stained carpet? Does it take out the stain and leave carpet fresh/new looking?

      • I have only given it one run today. I wouldn't expect it to work miracles. I think it is going to be good for just giving the carpet a freshen up. It did seem to get out a couple of light stains though. For $99 it seems worth it so far.

  • None in wa have you tried all stores

  • +2

Got one in south bris. Missus just cleaned two areas, perfect results. This machine is def mid-high end. Thank you OP. Epic bargain.
If you can get one you definitely should jump at it imo.
Now to clean the car seats..

  • Saying that when you look it up say only in Armadale I thought for a min in wa but this deal is in vic as advertised, are others getting this anywhere else?

    • Was in Melb, Syd, Bris, Adel, Hobart morning papers today. I just assumed it would have been in Perth too like the previous 2 Bunning's deals I have posted. So should be nationwide, but stock levels would vary from store to store.

  • Do other stores have it at all or just for Melbourne?

  • This must be the most moving plastic parts $99 can buy. Really I bought it for the upholstery function but its good to hear some good reviews already from ozb. I noticed there's 5 of the $49 gerni high pressure washers left at bunnings capalaba while i was there.

  • +2

Picked one up from the North Lakes QLD store this morning. There was 5 or 6 on the pallet when I grabbed mine. Put it together, but yet to give it a run. This will come in handy for the carpets, couches and the cars. So much value for $99.00.

Found a good Youtube review here - https://youtu.be/FUzR_WpmOdw

    • Thanks. 26 minute review - I'll wait till I get home and watch and listen in peace and quiet.

  • +1

Check you got a lint filter with yours. I didn't.

    • Good catch. I assumed it was preinstalled. I bought one this morning and got about half my carpet done. Actually did a decent job but it was slow going and I found gently pushing down on the base helped. It removed more than a few stains although it left lots more.

That being said. After I was finished I checked and no base lint filter… There was certainly no shortage of wet lint in the dirty water holder - I guess this is why!

I'll give vax a call on Monday and see if they can send a part and return it (after finishing the carpet) if not.

      • -1

How did the machine leave more stains ?

Are you saying it's not worth the money ?

        • I've used a similar machine before and with light wool carpet they can make old stains worse by bringing more of the offending stain back up from the original underlay. So sometimes you notice a stain that was hardly noticeable before very noticeable. The same can apply with a professional steam machine as well for this type of carpet.

        • Nah, all I meant was itngot up some stains but not others. I do think its worth the money. Anyone tried other brands of carpet shampoo and have any recommendations?

      • +1

I contacted them & they are mailing one out - looks like none of them have got them included (VX3 1350w)

        • Interesting, mine was missing the filter and I just called VaxCare (techtronic industries) 1300361505 and they said to return it to the store which seem rediculous.

          Who did you contact?

          Thanks.

        • @Frugality: a woman (didn't get her name). A courier card was just left in the letterbox today, so I am guessing that is it.

    • Thanks for the heads up.

  • +1

So what you guys are saying that some did not come with the lint filter? Missing or some one forgot to put one in when they package the box?

    • Just checked the bottom of mine and it's there.

It's a white hard plastic rectangle lint filter behind the brushes. Mine was pre-installed, didn't even know it was there.

    • Mine wasn't included. I used the list on page 3 or so of the manual to check that all 28 odd parts were included and that was the only one missing. The manual doesn't tell you to install it in the set up process, so I take that to mean it's already pre-inserted into its housing

  • Did you guys notice that the hose caddys have changed from the manual and the box picture?

My hose coils from the top left clip of the upper caddy to the bottom left clip of the lower caddy, the manual/box photo shows the hose caddy clips both at the top on the left and right hand side.

I thought they packed the wrong parts initially.

  • So did anyone find one in wa never even tried any place yet

  • +1

Mentone in Melbourne had 10 I bought mine in Moorabbin and yeah the hose holder is different to manual, it's newer type and still trying to figure out which is top or bottome. some stores also have the old 1000w for $99 so ask if it's the 1350w or 1000w until they stock rather than just then just carpet cleaner

  • Bendigo sold out. Although with new store opening tomorrow, hoping they may have 1 at the same price

  • +3

I posted the previous ad and a long time user of the Vax. This is an unbelievable stupid price. Have gotten the value out of mine many times over. Continues to pull far better than any rug doctor and blitzed my previous $1000 machine. Great work op. Hopefully I can get the new model in Adelaide today

    • +1

Thanks for the positive feedback. I purchased mine today. Might take me a while to get it out of the box to use it. Many of my purchases sit in their box for ages until I'm ready to use them.

Good luck with finding one locally.

No more at Ferntree Gully. Was told there were 5 at Vermont South and 6 at Notting Hill.

  • Got mine this morning.. they have another model Vax 1000W Rapide Ultimate Upright Carpet Cleaner for the same price too.

    http://www.bunnings.com.au/vax-1000w-rapide-ultimate-upright…

    • Which one is better?

      • The dual v advance is 1350w. That one is only 1000w.

      • +1

the 1000w has a pre-treatment wand on stubborn stains and high traffic areas before wash..while 1350w is more powerful but it does not have that feature.

        • +1

You can do the same thing with the Dual V hand tool/nozzle, sprays just like the pre-treatment wand, it's just not marketed this way.

        • @millzy: thanks!!!

  • Sucks big time that only one store in wa sells this and they don't have as posted, silly only one store can sell them even looking on website changing places shows most stores in wa have very little stock of any Vax compared to stores over East feels like I'm in a different country come on Bunnings what you playing at?

  • +1

SA: Got the last one at Windsor Gardens. Woodville showing 5, Munno Para 2, Modbury 2. None at Parafield. Stock levels as at 7am today.

    • can you please check if any remaining today?

  • Got second to last at Windsor Gardens in SA - can confirm that Modbury can't find their stock.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Managed to get one dowm here in Traralgon Vic, was 2 left.

The staff seemed a bit bewildered at the price themselves

  • +1

Plenty in stock at Craigieburn in Vic,

You can also get the solution from good guys for $2 delivery if bunnings have no stock

    http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/vax-carpet-cleaning-solution-1…

    • Did Craigieburn have stock of the solution also?

      • no stock of the solution at Craigieburn and the staff were clueless as to when they are getting more.

Was about 6-7 of the 1350w and 6-7 of the 1000w around noon.

    • I just called bunnings craigieburn (4:30pm) and they said NO STOCK remaining? I also visited the Broadmeadows store who tried to sell me the 1000W version.

The skeptic in me thinks Bunnings have pulled the remaining stock as they incorrectly advertised the wrong model?

      • +2

Not likely, go to their home page and you will see it advertised for $99 with their other specials. They also took advertisements in all newspapers nationwide. It's dirt cheap and maybe some people are doing a broden. Also, because of the size of the packaging they wouldn't have stock levels like they did for the Gerni and Drill deals from recent weeks.

        • Then it seems the old 'you snooze, you lose' phrase fits in well with my delay in picking one of these bad boys up. Cheers unity1.

        • @rawm: I'm sure there is still stock in the SE suburbs of Melbourne. I don't know whether Bunnings can do a store to store transfer, but you could always inquire within your local store.

        • @rawm: I picked the last one up from Broady at about 4pm today.

There was still 1 1000w model left when I grabbed the last one.

          Sorry :)

        • No need to apologise, when it comes to a good deal it's every man for himself!

  • +1

Would this suit to shampoo an upstairs floor. Especially I have a concern that my dodgy builder didn't do a good job with floor board upstairs and decided to save some screws, glue and labor. The floor boards under the carpet were not glued and fixed with screws or anything. They just wobble and give the noise when you walk over them and many places.
If I use this on them would it send any water down the boards and on to the ceiling downstairs?

    • Just went and bought one anyway. Keysborough had no stock but Springvale had some. Still wonder if I can use this upstairs.
Can this be used on floating timber (is that what hard floor means or is it tiles?) and upstairs carpets. Has any one used it before for upstairs and how did it go?

      • Try ringing VAX and see if they can answer your questions . If it does not suit your purpose then take back to Bunnings for a refund.

  • Got one this morning, thanks Op! Now just need to get it out of the box to try it out… Apparently Springvale store had some in addition to Vermont South and Notting Hill.

  • can this be use to clean laminated flooring?.. wasn't sure whether hard floor refers only to timber floor and tiles.. if does, it'll save me my house chores job of vacuuming first then mopped the laminated floor as one job.. thanking any input. btw 1 left @Alexandria, NSW this arvo.

  • Darn missed this one! Oh well, I'll just have to console myself with the airfryer when it arrives…

    • +1

The deal is not over yet. It's still $99. You just have to find stock.

  • Got one from Bunnings Fyshwick (ACT) today around 5pm. There were two 1350W ones left and three 1000W ones. They are right near the registers, just on the right as you enter the door.

  • +1

Best value shampoo for these? Bunnos sell this 5L one for $25. Another one is $15. Godfrey's as sell the Pullman one for $29.95

  • +3

Missed out on the 1350w version, but a new bunnings just opened today around the corner from my house. Had the 1000w version, and because I was that first customer to buy something in the store, got $100 gift cards which made it free or -$1. Happy Monday everyone

    • Well done. Any other good opening day specials?

      • Literally walked in, grabbed the vac and walked out. Had to get a couple of photos taken though haha. Luckily got dressed up in my best tracksuit pants and jacket. Official opening is tomorrow, so I would say that is when the specials will be had.

        • +2

          Slazenger?

  • Vax/Techtronic are sending me the lint filter
There were 4 at Box Hill Bunnings yesterday & the store assistant checked another box & there was no lint filter in it. None on the display model either.
My guess is none of the VX3 (1350w) models in Australia have the lint filter

  • thanks op - dural in sydney's north has a few left.
