    since when did dicksmith sell drink bottles

  • id rather buy this and reuse it

      Wouldn't be ideal for cycling, working out, etc.

      • dont sports people drink things like powerade?

          A lot of cyclists use these bottles (myself included). It is not practical to carry around 10 powerades on a hot day, much easier to carry a small ziplock bag with some hi-5 or sis tablets and then you just refill the bottle with water and drop a tab into it.

          You do need some of the extra stuff beyond just water, I ran out of tabs on a charity ride last year, 42 degree day at about the 150km mark and although I still had water in the bottles, dehydration was smashing me. Somebody riding past saw me sitting on a nature strip looking sorry for myself and gave me some hydralite and that helped massively!

          @tuzii: Absolutely I do, quite a lot!

        • @tuzii: Where do you think he would ride 150km for a charity ride? :)

        • +3

          @tuzii: I am over 12 so legally I am not allowed to ride on the footpath. I also have a Mountain Bike and I ride it occasionally offroad but i much prefer riding on the road, particularly 2 abreast in large groups whilst wearing lycra over my middle aged body!

        • @tuzii: Very long footpath, Lol. As hinted by 2ndeffort, if you're above 12 you MUST ride on the road unless there is an allocated bike path.

        • Remember tuzii, I am TheOneWhoKnocks, so think twice before insinuating such threats against other fellow OzBargainers…

          @TheOneWhoKnocks:

          Honestly didn't know that. I often prefer to ride on footpath, I'm not brave enough to ride alongside car drivers such as 'tuzzi'.
          Oh, I havent been 12 for about 27 years now.

          I always wear a helmet…..I thought was also legal??
          See so many kids/adults without helmets.

        • +3

          @albanyson: wearing a helmet is also the law. I have been through a couple and anyone that rides without one is kidding themselves. I've kept 2 of my destroyed former helmets, including one that was from a tip over whilst I was stopped where my head whiplashed backwards onto the road as I fell and destroyed the back of the helmet without a scratch to my head. I show the mangled helmets to my kids to prove what could happen if you weren't wearing a helmet.

          Keep wearing your helmet please. If others choose to risk their lives that is their concern but dont risk your life to avoid a bit of styrofoam. I am currently wearing a Bontrager helmet because they have a replacement guarantee, if I total the helmet for any reason (within the time period) they will replace with a new one!

        • @2ndeffort: why use this bottle though, not a $5 bottle from Kmart

        • @edwinlin88: This bottle is insulted so it helps keep your drink either hot or cool. This bottle also has a better mouthpiece which you can tightly close, not just close to a dribble, but close tight enough to carry upside down without spillage. This bottle also has a better mouthpiece that is easy to get a drink from when you are stuffed. Finally, this bottle has a drink mouthpiece that you can pull apart and clean to prevent a science project going on in your mouth!

          I have a few water bottles that cost me nothing from trade shows etc but i still bought a couple of these for the above reasons.

        • @2ndeffort: hmmm yes I did see all those features. I guess it's just me who doesn't see value in them

        • +1

          @edwinlin88: As mentioned above, 5 hours into a 180km ride on a 42 degree day, an extra $10 for my drink to be cool in my water bottle seemed like money well spent to me.

    Bought this last time. Great drink bottle but beware that it will make little burping noises after drinking due to pressure. Took me a while to figure out what was making the noise throughout the night!

    • +1

      New horror movie pitch: What goes burp in the night? :)

    • The plipping noise can get annoying but just give the bottle a good squeeze and it usually fixes it up.

      You can also twist the mouthpiece to close off the opening, this stops the air leak and also makes the bottle safe to tip[ upside down etc. i find this useful when carrying the bottle in the car on the way to an event or the gym etc to stop anything leaking into the car.

  • Also take the jet valve apart to wash it.
    After a while it becomes a little petrie dish inside!

    • Free immune system boost

  • these must be leftovers from when they had their ebay sale

  • Easily my favourite drink bottle, and an excellent price.

    BEST.BOTTLE.EVER

  • I'm looking for a sports bottle for running outside and on a treadmill. Is it worth paying $13 for this? Seems good from reviews.
