I've got previous versions of the MULE and HAWG NVs, and they are the two best bags I've ever owned. The quality is phenomenal and the smaller size (I believe they're made for biking) is actually perfect most of the time. I grabbed another MULE as part of this deal as a backup, in case my original ever fails.
My son has the mule for hiking, on race day it's nice and small but still room for some snacks and spare batteries for headlamp etc.
He uses a bigger one for training so he can carry a few more things.

What is good about this brand?
well, the podium bottles are bloody great - you squeeze the bottle and a jet of water shoots out, good for riding.
I have tried other jet nozzle bottles and they sux, weak or drip while in use.
also their hiking hydration bags are great quality and well designed.
Quality and design. With the hydration bags we find the bladder and hose design much better, large through for easy filling on race day. Build quality superb, no stitches tearing like other brands we have had.
I also guess that this is the name brand for hydration packs and I am sure you pay extra for that.
