Completely different product. That's desktop RAM. This is notebook RAM.
Is this SODIMM ram?
And how would you normally install it?
Take cover off underside of laptop.
Slide into empty SODIMM slot… may involve removal of existing memory…
Task manager says I have 2 slots spare.
So I should be able to slot two of these in?
Most notebooks have 2 slots but yours may have 4 - I would check what is physically available by removing the cover, or checking the manufacturers specifications for your laptop.
@Cheap Charlie: It's a laptop, ASUS B400V
@Rastafarian: as klownz mentioned, it's best to check physically.
@cathole: I bought em anyway, I'll find a use for them.
@Cheap Charlie: Thanks for that. I pulled the cover off and there is only one slot spare (as per those specs), with a 4GB one already installed :(
Oh well I should be able to flog them on Gumtree or something for $20.
Limit of 3 per customer.
Since when do TGG sell RAM?
How do I do to know if my notebook is compatible? I have an Dell Inspiron 1564 i3
Remove the hatch on the underside and look at the Ram sticks currently installed. Then buy more of the same kind.
Most likely your Dell already has both Dimm slots filled with 2x2gb so you might take that into account..buying more 2gb sticks would probably be useless. Look for 4gb?
Get 2x 8GB.
16GB is the bomb!
Not keen on putting explosives inside my computer.
@octagonalman: It'll give it some bang for the buck…
This site will tell you how much you have already, how many slots, and the type:
It says there is some at Noarlunga SA but when I click buy it says product not available?
I bought three a few weeks ago- I'd be surprised if they have any left- anywhere…
What use is this? I have sticks and sticks of this left over from upgrading Macs that came with 4GB (2x 2GB) RAM.
Put 'em on gumtree for $10-20 each.
The RAM out of my last few MACs (Macbook Pro and Mac Mini 2012) has been low voltage 1.35V - this stuff is in demand at the moment as everyone is building NUCs, media boxes, etc. Definitely put it up on Gumtree…
The Macs that I took the RAM out of were the same models you were talking about. Both were Hynix, but there was an "S" suffix, so I don't think it's 1.35V, but 1.5V. They were bought in 2012 and 2013 respectively (MBP and Mac Mini).
Already have 16gb of ram :{
2GB of RAM in 2015 in a laptop….good one TA my phone has 2GB
Anyone know where I can buy a cheap new laptop that can use this 1.5V RAM instead of 1.35V ?
Cheap.
Probably not low-voltage and therefore not suitable for NUCs, etc? Couldn't find info…
