SodaStream Genesis Drink Maker + 2 Syrup Bottles - $49.95 @ Harvey Norman

100

Sodastream Genesis with 2 syrup bottles(total, 24 litres worth) for $49.95, great price.

I should note, I did end up buying the SodaStream Play from Kmart on clearance for $59.00. Only because the play looks nicer than the genesis + it's slightly easier to use due to the clip-in bottle design. This genesis package, however, is much better value!

  • Can anyone comment on the genisis compared tot he other versions? Also they say the gas bottle gets 60L… Does it actually get that much?

    • I think they would make 60L but that depends on the fizz level you choose, a higher carbonation level obviously takes up more gas, but I'd assume the difference isn't that great because I've never seen it mentioned anywhere.

The included CO2 bottle only has a 15L capacity(atleast it was in the Play version) but you swap it out for a 60L full sized bottle.

      • Uh.. I think the bottle with the Genesis is 40L (can't remember, not at home). 15L would be tiny!

    cheaper here

Free here … Or is that more expensive in the long run?

    • For soda water it's ~35c per litre for the gas for a sodastream, so long term its cheaper.

Also you dont need to cart home bottles of stuff every time you go to the shops

Genesis you need to screw the bottle to the machine v.s Play there is an easier locking mechanism if you plan on using this a lot it makes a pretty big difference in convenience.

    • Yea, that's definitely a notable feature.

  • Is the Play still on special at Kmart?

    • Yes I'd assume so, I've only purchased it today. It was on clearance and they only had a few left at my local store, so I'd call and check before-hand just in case.

      • Thanks just purchased! Plenty at mine - is the gas cylinder with the Genesis the starter 15L one as well?

        • Deevan mentioned above that he got a 40L cylinder with his genesis.

          Oh right!

Another thing - I noticed that in the video, when you attach the water canister onto the soda-stream you can directly push the top of the Play without holding onto the bottle. On mine, you actually have to hold the bottle back against the plastic part for the top section to go down and carbonate the drink - is it the same on yours or do you think mines faulty? It just won't go far enough towards the back by itself to allow the lid mechanism to go down without me pushing the bottle back.

        • @maybeamacy:

I can't picture exactly what you're trying to say but I just do basically what this guy does in this video.

        • @dejavu66:

Yeah the head of the machine won't go down unless I physically push the bottle back. In the video he just clicks it on and presses the top to carbonate :o I think mine might be faulty then.

        • @maybeamacy: Ohh I see, yep sounds like a faulty piece. Hopefully you didn't chuck your receipt away.

  • Thanks OP! Scored a clearance Sodastream Play at kmart today for $59.

I saw four Sodastream Play's for $59 at Aspley Kmart today, and they had some Sodastream Dynamo's for $49 as well.
